Meet Cleopatra! She's shy and submissive, but SO friendly after she has a minute to warm up. She absolutely loves people and loves attention. Her whole body wiggles when she sees you. She's fantastic with other dogs too! Cleopatra is about 2 years old and weighs 16 pounds. She was found stray, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's a complete sweetheart!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.October 2, 2023, 5:48 pm

Story
In a house on a hill, with a yard quite vast, Lived a hyperactive pup, a whirlwind so fast. Pico was his name, a furry little sprite, With boundless energy, from morning 'til night. He'd chase his own tail in a never-ending race, Zooming through rooms, leaving toys in his trace. With a wagging tail and a goofy grin so wide, Pico was the joy of every bumpy ride. He'd dig up the garden, bury bones in the ground, Then proudly present them when guests came around. His antics were endless, a daily surprise, From leaping through hoops to chasing butterflies. But when bedtime rolled in, his energy would wane, He'd curl up in his bed, like a tired hurricane. Dreaming of squirrels and a world so grand, Pico the hyper dog, the best in the land. So here's to Pico, the canine dynamo, Whose zest for life would endlessly flow. In laughter and chaos, he'd always partake, Pico, the hyper dog, for goodness' sake! Pico is available for adoption in TX only at this time. Local adoption fee is $200

Story
Baby is a precious little girl that is 2 years old and a special needs dog that is 20 pounds.  She was born with what is the equivalent to a hydrocephalus child that cannot control some of her movement functions and needs assistance moving around.  This girl is also 90% blind and has to be helped to get outside and go for a potty break.  We are working on a wheelchair right now and it will give her some freedom and joy to sit upright and perhaps learn how to move her legs to navigate around the backyard.  This girl is very independent but yet being picked up does put her in a fear mode until she knows to trust you and knows you mean her no harm.  She is about 90% blind and challenged with her walking skills and we think a wheelchair could give her some wonderful mobility or steadiness on her feet.  She is a sweet girl that will play with other dogs and is fine around cats as well.  If you have ever wanted to help a handicapped dog then Baby is the one to consider.  We think she is Min Pin mix and was brought to a shelter with her sister at the age of 10 weeks in December of 2021.  This little girl is going on 2 years old now and the original foster mom is keeping the other sister who is impaired with her walking only.  We are seeking a person and family with a depth to handle the blindness and the need to carry her outside right now to go potty.  She loves the company of other dogs and she is much improved when around them.  She does also love to sleep and stay near her work-from-home foster mom. Her mind is sharp but again fearful of those unseen and unknown elements that she might experience.  But in the end Baby will conquer her fears and she will be fine!  If you would like to know more, please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.October 2, 2023, 11:51 am

Story
Meet Mavis! This stunner is looking for a family to call her own! Mavis came to us from a rural shelter outside Houston where she was found living on the streets. But this diva was ready to give up life on the streets for a life of blankets and pillows and lots of pampering! Mavis has never met a couch she didn't like and loves to binge the latest show! She also enjoys walks and taking in all the sights and sounds (and smells!) of her neighborhood! Mavis has lived in a foster home with other dogs of all sizes and cats and did fine but she would really prefer to be the only furkid in the house. She is housetrained and cratetrained, fully vaccinated and spayed. She also has completed treatment for heartworms. Mavis likes chew toys, taking naps, lounging in the sun and SNACKS! She is food motivated and very smart! If you are looking for a princess to join your family, Mavis is the perfect dog for you! Email info@joyrides.org to request an app Age: approx 8 yrs Weight: 20 lbs Housetrained? yes Cratetrained? yes Dogs? Ok but would prefer to be an only pet Cats? looking for a cat-free home Other considerations: none OK for an apartment? would prefer a house and yard Mavis is being fostered in Jersey City, NJ and is available for adoption throughout the NE. Transport can be arranged.

Story
Hi, I'm Bandit! I was returned back to the shelter when my family could unfortunately no longer care for me. They loved me very much and here is a little of what they had to say about me:Bandit, aka Pico Bandito, Bandi-pants, and Band camp. He is highly food motivated. Some of his favorite treats while training him on walks are apples, cucumber, popcorn, and bacon flavored treats. These treats are used to help with his reactivity. He is leash reactive to bicycles, pedestrians, other dogs, and people pushing strollers. When he meets people/other dogs off leash he jumps up but is happy/excited. He had two dog friends he had so much fun playing with off leash in their fenced in yards. He still needs extensive work on his reactivity to passing cars. Bandit is very nervous around kids and would probably do best in a home with kids 12+. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. I put a little peanut butter on his red bone chew toy every night. He is easy to bathe at home in the shower. He is very smart and loves to learn. He can sit, stay, roll over, go to your crate, leave it, drop it and let's go. We have been working on him sitting at the door and staying in the car until I say "let's go". Bandit is nervous but good in the car. We crated him in the car on a longer trip and he did great. He despises the vacuum and the mail person. He didn't mind the fireworks at all surprisingly. He loves to play, play, play. He's not a couch potato. He wants to fetch, tug, and snoff out hidden treats in the yard and house. Bandit is so busy sniffing on walks that he doesn't listen to his body. It's not uncommon to take an hour long walk, only to have him come in the house and poop. He also likes to grab snacks that he finds on the side of the road or the side walk. He will let you remove objects from his mouth without biting you and is almost always gentle when taking treats from your hand. Bandit is a really wonderful, energetic, entertaining and funny dog. So smart and so handsome. Tummy, butt scratches, naps in the sun, playing with dogs that can match his level of enthusiasm, and peanut butter are all of his favorite things.
