Story
Adoption Fee: $460, plus tax Location: Foster Home Pippin was found in a good Samaritans yard one day with no tags and no chips. Not having seen him before, the finders spend the afternoon and evening walking him around to the neighbors to see if anyone knew where he had come from! After hanging on to him for the 10 day stray hold, Pippin came to us, and is now looking for his forever home. Pippin has been evaluated by a behaviorist due to his tendency to people guard and his leash aggressiveness. He has taken great strides with the help of Giffy Dog Training and his foster, who has been dedicated to help Pippin reduce his stress level. Once Pippin gets comfortable with a person, he becomes a ride or die! Pippin is in need of a single dog home who can keep up with the training that is needed for him to become the best dog. If you are interested in learning more about Pippin, fill out an application at www.carverscotths.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Mr. Buddy, a charming and endearing elderly gentleman who is sure to melt your heart. Much like Buddy the Elf, Mr. Buddy is truly one of a kind. Affectionately known as the "chubby monkey," "rollie pollie," or simply the "Bud-man," he came into our care when his previous owner could no longer look after him. Mr. Buddy is a sweet-natured dog who craves affection and cuddles. While he has successfully shed a few pounds, his gait was slightly affected due to neglect in nail trimming. Fortunately, we've addressed this issue, and he can now navigate stairs with ease and even enjoys a gentle jog in the yard. To ensure Mr. Buddy lives a longer and healthier life, he'll need an owner who can carefully manage his food portions. He appreciates the company of other dogs but prefers a more relaxed interaction rather than being overwhelmed. Please note that he's not a fan of cats. When it comes to living arrangements, Mr. Buddy's barking when left alone suggests that apartment living may not be suitable for him. A townhome with considerate neighbors or detached walls would be more appropriate. As he cannot be kenneled, he'll need the freedom to roam when you're away. In his golden years, Mr. Buddy deserves a forever home where he will never be abandoned, receive the proper care and attention he needs, and be thoroughly spoiled. If you're ready to provide this loving and compassionate environment, Mr. Buddy is waiting to become a cherished member of your family.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Bobby, the scruffy bundle of joy with boundless puppy energy and a heart full of love. This little guy is good with everyone he meets—kids, adults, and other dogs—but we’re not sure about cats since he hasn’t been around any yet. Bobby is young, full of that classic playful spirit, and always ready for a game of fetch or a wrestling match with his doggy friends. He’s super sweet and loves being pet, held, and cuddled. Despite his playful nature, Bobby is also a bit of a toy thief, sneaking off with his foster brother’s toys when he thinks no one’s watching. It’s all in good fun, though—Bobby is as submissive as they come and just loves to play. He’s doing great with potty training, thanks to a consistent schedule and belly bands, and he’s a champ in his crate overnight. During the day, he hangs out in an exercise pen with his foster brother, taking regular breaks for potty time and playtime outside. Bobby’s got a healthy appetite, with breakfast around 7-8 am and dinner around 6-7 pm, followed by more play and snuggles before bedtime. Bobby’s a bit of a chatterbox when he  hears dogs barking or sees other animals like squirrels, ducks, or other moving things catch his eye. But with a little redirection, he’s easy to calm down. His high-pitched bark might sound alarming, but don’t worry—Bobby has zero aggression. This amazing little guy would thrive in a home with kids or another dog to help burn off his puppy energy. Whether he’s playing, snuggling, or just hanging out by the window, Bobby is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever family.   Bobby is from Texas.    If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Nissa is a sweet and affectionate girl who absolutely adores her humans. She warms up quickly to people and is happiest when she’s by your side, or in her favorite spot—her crate. While she’s friendly with other dogs outside of her crate, she does get a bit territorial when they get too close to her space. Ideally, her crate should be put away if there are other dogs in the home, or covered up, as that helps her relax. This independent girl knows how to use the doggie door and enjoys her routine. After going outside in the morning, she’ll happily return to her crate, and even though she’s not the most playful with other dogs, she gets along just fine with them as long as they respect her personal space. Nina would be perfectly happy as an only dog, so she can get all the attention. Nissa was found as a stray but was in good shape and just needed a little love. She hasn’t been around kids, but as long as they respect her space, she’d likely do great with them. Whether it’s a cozy apartment or a house with a yard, Nissa is ready to be the ultimate couch potato, curled up next to the humans she loves. Nissa is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/5/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5pm and 9pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes.
