Story
Abe is a spunky, funny, shy at first, sweet and spicy puppy with lots of personality who's looking for his forever home. His adoption name is Abe but he currently goes by Little Potato, Peanut and Puppy. He came to me shy and nervous but has come so far in his time here and is loving going on walks, jumping in the river, being out and about, and especially meeting new dogs.
His favorite things are playing tug-o-war, rummaging the toy box for the next best toy, and being outside running around and laying in the sun. Although wrestling with the resident dog is his absolute favorite next to playing his shadow. When relaxing he loves laying on a dog bed under the sofa where it's cool and dark for the best beauty rest.
The potty training is going so well that he is almost 100%! Plus he is currently learning how to jingle a bell or hit a button to say he needs to go out. He knows sit, come, down and is learning “stay”. He also catches treats in midair! He is just so smart. We walk every day so he’s figuring out the leash and loves all the different smells. He’s gotten free rein of the house for over a month and does so well. Plus, he sleeps through the night (next to the resident dog at the foot of the bed)!
He's a little slow to get comfortable in new situations and I think he'll always be a bit of a sensitive soul when it comes to obedience. I’ve found that lots of love and a little patience goes along way and with the right approach and encouragement he figures things out fast. Positive reinforcement has been fantastic for him plus he's super smart and highly treat motivated – great for training! (This boy loves food!) He's only known a house with a companion pup and leans on/loves the resident dog so much. It's really helped him come out of his shell and he’s always looking for dogs to bond with, so I think a home with another pup is where he will thrive the most. Large or small, he loves them all!

Abe is estimated to be 5 months old and 17 lbs. Since we dont know the dogs actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
