Story
Hi world! Abe here to tell you all the cool things about myself so I can find my equally cool family! I used to be a shy and nervous boy I have been quickly learning that new adventures can also be exciting! I love car rides, breweries, being outside, going on walks to smell all the smells and especially meeting new dogs!
My absolute favorite things are playing tug-o-war, rummaging the toy box for the next best toy, and wrestling with the resident dog and especially when I get treats! I love treats! Running around the yard and sunbathing are close seconds. One of my favorite resting spots is a dog bed under the sofa where it's nice and cool and dark so I can get the best puppy beauty naps.
The human says I'm super treat motivated and DUH! I figured out how to sit, what it means to come and I'm working on "down." My foster mom also gives me treats every time I go potty outside so I'm quickly learning that is where I should be doing my business.
I've been loving being near the resident dog or my foster mom, so I've gotten free rein of the house and I do so well. I sleep through the night next to my foster dog brother (in bed of course), and I keep the house nice and tidy while you're away.
I'm looking for a home with lots of love, some patience and it'd be cool if there was another dog because I really love other dogs. Also, a home with lots of toys and treats please! Hope to meet you soon! - Abe
A word from his foster mom: Abe is a spunky guy with lots of personality and still a little cautious. He's a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy but very funny. He can be mouthy when he plays (puppy!) but we've been working on it a lot and he has improved immensely. Additionally, Abe can be a sensitive soul and is still learning that life is exciting. Positive reinforcement has been incredibly helpful for getting him out of his shell. We have been working very hard on showing him how great it is to be a dog and he has come so far! He is so smart and with the right love and encouragement he figures it out pretty fast.
Abe is such a unique and special boy, I've never fostered a pup quite like him and he deserves an absolutely wonderful home. Let us know if you'd like to meet this cutie!
Abe is estimated to be 5 months old and 15 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.
We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events!
Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/
You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet!
