Story
Our little Apple 🍎 is searching for a teacher 🧑‍🏫 Literally actually, this scared stray was hanging around a school and approached a teacher for guidance. She is very nervous and defensive at first meeting new people, and looks like a ferocious little watchdog, but is desperate to connect and bond and warms up quickly. She looks like she recently had puppies sadly, and we think about 3-4 years old, under 15lbs full grown. We aren’t quite sure of her breed- maybe chihuahua, min pin, doxie, Italian greyhound… she looks a bit like a patterdale terrier. Or a mini black lab puppy 🤷‍♀️ 😝 She’s been getting along with other small dogs in foster and a lovable lapdog once she trusts. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Apple 🍎 in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Age: 2.0 years old Weight: 23 lbs Vet Record: 100% vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, female Looking for a laid-back, loving furry friend? Meet Nori! This charming girl is all about affection and cuddles. She’s calm, house-trained, and doesn’t have any separation anxiety. Nori is good on a leash and in the car, plus she’s a petite size! Nori is smart, food-motivated, and incredibly loyal. She loves being petted and will want to stay by your side as much as possible. Nori gets along with other dogs and loves to play, but she also loves being the center of attention and prefers to have her human all to herself. Because of that, she’d do best as the only dog in the home. She can be a little timid on busy streets, so a suburban home would be ideal for her. Nori is a sweet, calm companion with great house manners who just wants a family to love. Fill out an adoption application today to meet her. All of our adopters have a 1-week trial period to decide if the dog is the right match for you. Should you decide the adoption is not working out, you can notify us within the first week and we will coordinate a time to take the dog back into a foster home and issue a refund of the adoption fee minus $75.

Story
Rookie is ready for a new start Meet Rookie, a gentle 12-pound miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua mix who is looking for a quiet, loving home. Rookie is a timid but incredibly sweet little dog with a tender heart. He recently lost his devoted owner, whose final wish was for his beloved companion to find a safe and happy place to land. Rookie deserves nothing less. Rookie thrives in a calm environment and would do best as the only pet in a home without small children. Loud or busy settings can feel overwhelming for him, but with the right person, his trust grows steadily. He is house trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is up-to-date on vaccinations. He is also neutered and accustomed to living indoors as part of a family. What makes Rookie truly special is how he melts once he’s in your arms. Despite his shyness, he forms deep bonds and finds comfort in gentle affection. He doesn’t need much, just patience, kindness, and someone who will help him feel safe again. If you have a quiet household and an open heart, Rookie may be the perfect match. He is ready to begin his next chapter with someone who will love him as dearly as he was loved before.
