Update: 9/7/23
Sprocket is a sweet guy who just got some unexpected and serious health news during his routine pre-neuter vet visit today- he has a high grade heart murmur and an echo showed severe pulmonic stenosis, a congenital defect. He will be on 2 medications for life, is unable to be neutered or go under anesthesia, and will likely have a drastically shortened lifespan… we are currently looking into other options to help him but sadly it’s a poor prognosis longterm and we will likely be looking for a hospice home in which to enjoy whatever time he has. Meet Sprocket! This little 10 month old Min Pin mix was being given away for free, but luckily we were able to intervene. He is ready to start looking for his forever home. 😇
Sprocket may be cute and small, but he is NOT for the couch potato person. He’s an active, bouncy, athletic little guy who will benefit from an active home. Someone with a yard is preferable (a fence is not mandatory.) He previously lived in an apartment and was being crated for very long hours. He is now enjoying having other dog friends to play with, a yard to race around, a kiddie pool/pond to wade in, etc. He would be great for someone who takes long walks or hikes and wants a companion. I was told large dogs make him anxious, but he has been loving having small dog friends! He is also good with cats, and I was told he is good with children. He is a total sweetheart and loves attention, he loves to be held or in your lap.
Sprocket has some separation anxiety, but we are working on it. He’s glued to your hip, and he will whine when he’s left in a separate room or when he first goes in his crate. We are working on teaching him to have some independence. He’s doing very well with housebreaking! He didn’t really receive any training in his previous home but he loves his person and is eager to learn.

Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
