Story
Sparky wants someone to love him. He is very skittish with new people but once he warms up to you he will be your best friend. Sparky was very neglected and abused in his past life.  He was just skin and bones when we got him. He is a healthy weight now and he is doing really well at learning to trust people again.  Sparky is a very special dog and he requires a patient person who is willing to work with him.  He is very skittish when meeting with strangers and he has his own timing to warm up to different people.  His adopter needs to beware of his bite history.  When he is nervous and being threatened, he may bite if you reach out to him.  Of course, he doesn't do that to people he knows well.  We also do not want him to go to a family with young children.   ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. RHS IS NOT A SHELTER; OUR PETS LIVE IN FOSTER HOMES IN THE DFW AREA. Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events every Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##388320##

Story
~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam ***** Temperament: Sadie has done very well with house training. Sadie does not have very many teeth left.  She is great  with dogs. Sadie is a very happy little girl.  She likes to explore the yard and gets around great inside for having one decent eye she can see out of.  Happy to snuggle next to you on the couch or in bed. She is a food hound!  Super sweet little girl looking for love. Would make a great lap dog. --  Where did she come from:  she was a stray at the Mesquite shelter Adoption: ***** $200.00 ***** Weight: 5.3 lbs. Story
Nugget is a petite 8 month old little girl weighing in at only 8 pounds! She's playful and enjoys the company of another playful dog and romping around the back yard (under supervision of course!)   She will thrive in a home with an adopter home more than not. No one can resist the most special silly smile. Nugget will thrive in a home with a fenced yard and another playful dog. If this is you let us know by completing our online application.  To meet Nugget in person visit us at www.DSDA.org/adopt and submit our online application.  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and immediate surrounding areas. ##1640772##

Story
PLEASE CALL AGAIN; I LOST SOME CONTACT NUMBERS! Parker is playful, a great watchdog, plays ball, house-trained, loves to sit on my lap & a pro at begging for attention. :-) She responds to commands, i.e. sit, stay, down, off, up, go pee, crate, & treat (come). We’re working on "no bark", but she now has a bark collar to remind her & is getting better. She likes to sleep with me & sometimes sneaks into my bed if she senses that she may not be invited. She comes with a big box of dog food, up-to-date rabies shots, two fancy aluminum dishes on a wrought iron stand, collar, leash, bark collar, medicine for her tummy rashes, and a red plaid pup tent with washable pillow. She’s neutered. I don’t recommend her for a family w/people coming & going as she's territorial, but she’s great for a single guy who will play the alpha dog role, play ball with her, etc. I've had Parker 6 years (She was 2 1/2 weeks old), I love her & want her to go to a good home. I'm moving to retirement home.
