Story
Meeka is full of joy! She loves people, walks and playing fetch! She loves so well and enjoys being the center of attention! She’s never too tired to play with you! She responds to “get on your bed, get in your kennel, sit, stay, go potty and come here!” She weighs about 32 pounds. She’s been an amazing dog, but sadly, we are leaving the state and don’t have a place for her. 😥 Meeka loves to sit with you and love on you, but respects your boundaries if you need space. She is precious and loves children! She’s never bitten or growled at anyone! She will bark if someone comes to your door! She would make an amazing early Christmas present. 💜

Story
Hey there! I'm Toastie! I am 26 pound, 1 year old, female, miniature pincher mix. I was left outside, overnight, in the rain, stuck in a wire kennel. Luckily, I was found in the morning and eventually made my way to Second Chance SPCA. I am a very shy, timid, and sweet girl. It takes me a while to warm up to new people, but once I do, I like to sit in their laps. I am fairly reserved and I need a family that will give me space to come out of my shell. If you are interested in me, please come to the shelter.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. The best way to get in touch with us is by email: info@secondchancespca.org. Due to the volume of calls, only the most urgent calls will be returned. For information regarding the adoption process please visit our website or read the information below THANK YOU.ADOPTION PROCESS: If you are interested in adopting from Second ChanceSPCA, please come during open hours. Adopters will visit with an adoption counselor and complete a short application. Adopters must live within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and be at least 21 years old. Renters must provide proof of pet deposit and/or written permission by landlord to have a pet.ADOPTION FEES: Includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, fecal, and heartworm test (dogs) or FeLV/FIV test (cats). All cats and dogs are current on heartworm and flea preventative. $250 for puppies under 6 months of age and $200 for dogs older than 6 months. $150 for kittens under 6 months of age and $125 for cats older than 6 months.

Story
Sparky wants someone to love him. He is very skittish with new people but once he warms up to you he will be your best friend. Sparky was very neglected and abused in his past life.  He was just skin and bones when we got him. He is a healthy weight now and he is doing really well at learning to trust people again.  Sparky is a very special dog and he requires a patient person who is willing to work with him.  He is very skittish when meeting with strangers and he has his own timing to warm up to different people.  His adopter needs to beware of his bite history.  When he is nervous and being threatened, he may bite if you reach out to him.  Of course, he doesn't do that to people he knows well.  We also do not want him to go to a family with young children.   ****Prior to filling out an application or contacting RHS, please completely read the instructions below.**** ALL ADOPTERS/FOSTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN 60 MILES OF RICHARDSON, TX. RHS IS NOT A SHELTER; OUR PETS LIVE IN FOSTER HOMES IN THE DFW AREA. Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events every Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##388320##
