I'm Emera, the tail-wagging hero of my own story. Once, I had a special mission: to cheer up a lonely park. Every day, I'd play fetch, share jokes with the squirrels, and give free cuddles. One day, a kind person saw my superhero acts of joy and decided I needed a bigger stage to share my superpowers, so here I am at the shelter, ready to bring happiness to a forever home. If you love laughter and endless fun, I'm the perfect sidekick for you!December 7, 2025, 8:44 am

Story
Dolly was found stray by a kind citizen who is fostering her until adopted since her owners did not surface. She has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms on 12/10 and has started the heartworm treatment - which is one shot of Proheart12 and 30 days of an oral antibiotic. She will be retested in 1 year (this is covered by LHS). The Proheart12 also serves as a full year of heartworm prevention - added savings to an adopter.   She is 1 year old and weights 8  lbs. Here's what her foster family said: Dolly is really smart, she has learned very quickly how to walk on leash and she housebroken. She is very, very cuddle, seems very happy to sit in your lap. She hasn't been around other dogs or kids but makes no indication that she wouldn't be happy with either.  Adoption fee is $275. Please apply online if you're interested in meeting her.  Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Six pounds of chocolate love - Meet our sweet little Min-Pin princess! Tiny kangaroo moves - Big Forever Home Dreams! This beautiful 6-year-old Miniature Pinscher mix weighs just 6 pounds and sports stunning light and dark chocolate coloring. Found as a stray trying to survive in a big, scary world all on her own, she’s shown incredible resilience and has blossomed into the happiest little companion. She’s dog, cat, and older-children friendly, making her a wonderful fit for many homes. She is house-trained, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and sleeps peacefully through the night. True to her royal status, she enjoys walks but loves being carried. When she wants to be picked up, she’ll sit up like a tiny kangaroo, waving her front legs in the air until you scoop her up — it’s impossible not to smile and of course pick her up.  This sweet girl is all about the cozy life: cuddles for days, movie marathons, and being close to her people. Tiny in size but huge in heart, she’s ready to share unconditional love with her forever family. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is $275. If you would like to meet her, please complete an application at LegacyHumaneSociety.org, and her foster mom will be in touch. She just might be the perfect little companion you’ve been waiting for     We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Story
Meet Auggie – He is a spirited, 7 month old herding mix weighing in at 17 pounds of pure personality. He’s fully house and crate-trained, and he’s been working hard on his basic manners—he already knows “sit,” “down,” and “paw.” This little guy thrives with a patient person who can give him some time to decompress and build trust. Slow introductions to new people are a must, but once you’re “his person,” he’ll be your constant shadow—and might even share his prized toys with you. Auggie has plenty of energy and loves outdoor play, especially chasing his oversized tennis ball or engaging in a good game of tug-of-war. Because of his high energy level, he’s not a great fit for apartment living. He can also be a bit particular about his belongings, so we recommend a home with no children. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with endless love, laughter, and fetch sessions, Auggie just might be your perfect match!
