Story
Beaker is a 2-year-old, 14-pound Miniature Pinscher with the sweetest eyes and a heart full of untapped love. Life at the shelter has been overwhelming for this shy little guy, and while he’s still figuring things out, we know there’s a warm, wonderful dog waiting to bloom with the right person.Right now, Beaker is understandably shut down and reserved – the noise and chaos of shelter life is a lot for a sensitive pup like him. But even through the uncertainty, he shows kindness and gentleness. He’s friendly, gets along well with other dogs, and quietly takes in the world around him.Beaker needs a calm, patient home where he can feel safe and take things at his own pace. A place where someone will give him the time and space to come out of his shell and discover joy again. With love and reassurance, we believe Beaker will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and room on your couch (and in your life) for a sweet soul looking for a second chance, Beaker might be the one for you.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. The best way to get in touch with us is by email: info@secondchancespca.org. Story
This little gentleman weighs just 12 lbs but has a heart big enough for everyone he meets. Max is about 3 years old and gets along with dogs of all sizes and cats. Despite having a little Chihuahua in his mix, he’s not a scrapper — Max just wants to be friends. He’s the total package: housetrained, leash trained, and crate trained. We think he had a family once, but sadly no one has come looking for him. Max was found in Ennis TX after being picked on by a larger dog while both were chasing after a female (don’t worry — he was neutered on 9/26, so that’s behind him now!). Max is happiest when he’s close to his people — cuddling, riding shotgun in the car, or tagging along as the perfect “purse dog.” If you’re looking for a loyal, pint-sized companion, Max is ready to hop in your lap and go wherever life takes you. Could Max be your new best friend? 🐾💜

I'm Emera, the tail-wagging hero of my own story. Once, I had a special mission: to cheer up a lonely park. Every day, I'd play fetch, share jokes with the squirrels, and give free cuddles. One day, a kind person saw my superhero acts of joy and decided I needed a bigger stage to share my superpowers, so here I am at the shelter, ready to bring happiness to a forever home. If you love laughter and endless fun, I'm the perfect sidekick for you!November 23, 2025, 2:11 pm

Story
Dolly was found stray by a kind citizen who is fostering her until adopted since her owners did not surface. She will be spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms on 12/10. Her approx. age is six months, approx. weight 7 lbs. Here's what her foster family said: Dolly is really smart, she has learned very quickly how to walk on leash and she has learned it is good to pee outside. She is very, very cuddle, seems very happy to sit in your lap. She hasn't been around other dogs or kids but makes no indication that she wouldn't be happy with either.  Adoption fee is $275. Please apply online if you're interested in meeting her.  Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
James is a sweet, calm senior who has spent a lifetime giving love, and now he’s hoping someone will open their heart to him in his golden years. He may move a little slower and nap a little longer these days, but his tail still wags with the same joy and gratitude as ever. He’s well-mannered, easygoing, and happiest simply being near his people. Whether it’s a quiet walk, a cozy spot by your feet, or slow, gentle cuddles, James has a way of bringing peace and warmth to any home. Senior dogs ask for very little—comfort, kindness, and a safe place to rest—and they give so much in return. If you’ve ever wanted to make a truly meaningful difference in a dog’s life, offering a loving home to James would mean the world to him. If you think you might be that special someone, please reach out. This wonderful old friend still has plenty of love left to give.

Story
Junior joined the rescue at the end of August and after completing heartworm treatment, getting neutered and having a much needed dental this guy is now ready for adoption! This is what his foster mom has to say about him! “Junior has the funniest little personality. He’s very laid back, but he’s recently started doing zoomies around the yard, which has been so fun to watch. He’s fairly independent, though he’s begun snuggling with us more and more. He loves food and is extremely treat-motivated! Junior does great with other dogs, but he’s still learning how to play. After spending six years just trying to survive on the streets, “playing” is a brand-new experience for him, so he can be a little awkward. He’s potty trained, non-destructive, and does well without being kenneled.” Junior is a 6 year old, 16.6 lb Chihuahua/Min Pin mix (our best guess!). If you are interested in adopting Junior, please submit an application at www.rescuerowinc.org *Please check your junk email folder if you do not receive a response from a Rescue Row member within 48 hours. *You must live within an hour of the DFW Metroplex because we do trial adoptions and require a homecheck *Our adoption fees are as follows (paid by cash or a check made out to Rescue Row): Dogs 12 weeks-6 months old: $300 adoption fee  Dogs 7 months and older: $275 adoption fee  Rescue Row is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) all volunteer dog rescue organization serving the DFW Metroplex. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs. ##2497891##
