Story
✨️ Meet Harley, a golden-hearted senior looking for a soft place to land. ✨️His journey with us began when his loving mom had to move into a seniors residence that couldn't accommodate dogs. It was a heartbreaking decision for her 💔, but made out of pure love and the hope that Harley would find a family who could continue giving him the comfort and care he deserves.Harley is now on the lookout for a foster-to-adopt home to help him through the last stretch of his weight-loss journey - just under five pounds to go before he's ready for his dental procedure. Dental health matters for dogs too! 🦷🐾This boy's personality is an easy blend of calm, steady, and quietly charming. He gets along beautifully with every dog he meets, even if he can't help offering a few barks when dogs pass by on his walks. Speaking of walks, he loves them - and would happily go for more (though we get that winter makes that a bit more challenging ❄️). He's also a big fan of car rides and will gladly hop in for whatever adventure you have in mind.Harley's bedtime routine is one of his sweetest quirks; he's used to sleeping at the foot of his person's bed, and in foster care he's continued that tradition without missing a beat. A comfy dog bed near yours is all he needs to settle in and snooze peacefully. He'll also play with toys when encouraged, and once he gets going, he gets adorably vocal about how much fun he's having 🎾.Harley is simply hoping for a home that will cheer him on, help him finish his weight-loss goals, and give him the gentle, loving environment every senior deserves. If you think you might be that person, we'd love to chat about helping Harley begin his next chapter. 💛🐶https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Harley, neutered male, Miniature (😆 soon) Poodle/Bichon Frise, 12 years,ID# 618885 Primary Color: Brown Weight: 14.6 Age: 12yrs 1mths 1wks

Story
Hi everyone! I am CALI and here is some info about me! PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Poodle mix  Age: approx. 4 years Gender: Female Weight: 14.5 lbs (6.6 kg) Height (paws to top of head): approx. 40 cm Height (paws to shoulders): approx. 29 cm Length (nose to bum): approx. 56 cm Neck circumference: 30 cm Chest circumference: 42 cm Current Location: Mexico City RESCUE STORY - My rescuers think I was once a family dog, because I'm very affectionate and used to interacting with humans. However, I was found abandoned and had lived as a stray for quite some time. Thanks to sterlization campaigns carried out in the area, some of the volunteers noticed me and got in touch with a local rescuer who took me in. At the time of rescue, I was very dirty, malnourished, and full of fleas, but thankfully I didn't have any serious health issues. I got great care when I was rescued and am now safe and sound at the shelter awaiting my chance to come to my forever home.   TEMPERAMENT - I am a pretty chill gal who enjoys playing at times but is also happy resting quietly on my own. I am sweet and affectionate and eager for a family to give me all the love I deserve. I'm a big fan of cuddles and love to be held like a baby, hehe (video, video 2). I'm brave when I meet new people on my walks and gladly accept pets from them (video). I sleep comfortably in my crate at night, so I think I'd like a cozy den space in my future home. I currently live in a room with 20 other dogs, of all different sizes. I get along well with all of them and haven't shown any signs of resource guarding - I'm a greate roommate! Volunteers regularly take me out for walks and I enjoy spending time at the local dog park. One thing to note is I really don't like when other dogs sniff my close to my face or bum, especially if we've never met before. I don't respond aggressively, as you can see in my video, but I'm just uncomfy and startled with it. I'm hoping to find an adopter who will advocate for my space and help all my doggy interactions to be controlled, positive ones :) Neutral, parallel walks with new dog friends is going to be key to my success. ENERGY LEVEL - Medium/Low. I like to just chill and hang out! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – I met a child on my walk and did well! video as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!)  Dogs – Yup! I live with lots of other dogs at the shelter, and we peacefully coexist (video). I play sometimes but am not an overly rambunctious girl. More of a neutral playmate who just likes to exist around other doggos.  Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I walk well on a leash (video) and I don't appear afraid of traffic or other loud noises (video). I regularly go on walks with volunteers and enjoy my time outside of the shelter. House trained – Work in progress! Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD ($650 + 7% PST and 5% GST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. Story
Stan is a 2-year-old Bichon Frise–Poodle mix, weighing in at a cuddly 17 lb. He's a super friendly, happy guy who greets the world with tail wags and that adorable grin of his. Stan gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, and does well with teenagers. He hasn't been socialized with younger kids yet, so a home with older children would be ideal. Stan is fully leash trained and a joy to walk. His foster doesn't even use a crate because Stan can be left alone in the house like a champ. He's mostly house trained and does great as long as he's let out regularly😉 This sweet boy loves to play with his ball 🎾, then happily settle in for some snuggles. He's medium energy, with fun bursts of play followed by chill downtime. And don't forget the treats — Stan is very food-motivated and goes wild for bones, freeze-dried beef, and carrots 🦴🥕 If you're looking for a loving, social, and smiley companion who's equal parts playful and cuddly, Stan might just be your perfect match 💙🐶

Story
Meet Mia 🐾 ✨ A very special little soul ✨ Mia is an itty-bitty 11-week-old mini poodle mix who weighs just 4 lbs now and is expected to grow to about 15–20 lbs. She may be small, but her heart (and personality!) are already so big. Mia is blind in both eyes, which means she experiences the world a little differently, and honestly, she's doing an incredible job. With a calm routine and gentle guidance, she's already gaining confidence every day. She sleeps through the night in her crate, does wonderfully in her play pen, and is learning her way around her foster home like a champ. This brave girl has figured out how to use pee pads, follows gentle tapping sounds to find her way, and is starting to map out her surroundings with impressive determination. Windy or rainy days can feel a little overwhelming for her, but with patience and reassurance, she keeps trying. She's even gone on short leash walks and does great with a little audible encouragement to guide her forward. Despite her vision loss, Mia is playful, curious, and fearless, she happily initiates play with her larger foster siblings and loves being part of the action. She's very much still a puppy, complete with the occasional ankle-nipping zoomie, but she's learning and improving every day. Mia is looking for a very special home, one that offers patience, understanding, and a calm, consistent environment where she can continue to feel safe and confident as she grows. She may not be a "typical" puppy, but she is truly extraordinary. After settling in beautifully and showing just how resilient and loving she is, Mia is now ready to find her forever home, a place where she'll be cherished, supported, and adored for the incredible little pup she is. 🐾✨

Good with dogs,
Story
Hiya! My name is POPEYE. Me and my pal MOY are a BONDED PAIR and MUST go to a home together! Here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Poodle mix Age: Approx. 2 years old Gender: Male Weight: 18 lbs (8.2 kg)  Height: 42cm (paws to shoulders), 52 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 58 cm (head to butt) Neck: 29cm Chest: 47cm Current Location:  Mexico City RESCUE STORY - Me and Moy were rescued together two months ago. We used to live on the street with a few homeless alcoholics. It’s believed we taken from somewhere else, as the homeless people didn't have us one day and then showed up with us the next. Unfortunately, we were mostly tied up and had little chances to move. This is probably why I started licking my paws and legs, which were quite red and raw when we were rescued. Me and Moy were kept hungry and dirty. At rescue, we were both dirty and underweight but fortunately, had no serious health issues. Our rescuers have searched for our "original owners" (if we had any) but nobody has come to claim us. SO... now we're hoping and praying that a lovely family in the Pacific North West will want to give us both a loving home together! After all we've been through, we have kinda "trauma bonded" together and are inseparable now. Moy, in particular, gets pretty stressed out when we are separated (video). TEMPERAMENT - I am friendly and very affectionate with people I know and trust (video). When approached by a stranger, I appear quite insecure and uncomfortable. I don't refuse to be touched and haven't shown any reactive or aggressive behaviour in these situations, but it's clear I'm quite uncomfortable (video). I'm looking for hoomans who will advocate for my space and who will go at my pace. Once I warm up, I'm a happy, loving boy - so I promise it's worth the wait to earn my trust! I do anxiously licking my paws and legs, but much less than when we were first rescued. Hopefully in a calm, loving home, I will be able to leave this nervous behaviour behind! I am dog friendly and absolutely need my buddy Moy as my companion; we walk (video), play, eat, cuddle (video, video 2), and sleep next to each other. We have shown that we are essentially each other's "emotional support animal", so our rescuers want us to be adopted together.   We were only recently rescued (Sept. 2025) from pretty unsafe and unstable conditions, where our movements were quite restricted. We are getting used to the new environment of the shelter. When together, we are way more confident. I think the ideal adopter for me and Moy should be aware that we will need some time to get used to a new home, but also expect us to grow into very affectionate, playful furry companions with time! :) ENERGY LEVEL - Low - Both Moy and I are pretty chill, low energy dudes! Once comfortable in our new home, I'm sure we'll come out of our shells a bit, but I don't think we'll ever be crazy energetic boys. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs –  Yup! At the shelter, Moy and I live with dogs of all sizes. We get along with everybody. We eat together with other dogs and show no resource guarding. We can be a bit uneasy when meeting doggos when on leash, but you can see here we warm up pretty quickly. Proper introductions on leash (parallel walks etc.) and advocating for our space will be essential to us getting comfortable! Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress! I walk quietly and nicely on leash, but I keep looking at the person walking me, as if I need some sort of encouragement. On the street I'm not bothered fast driving cars or noise (video). I am hoping to find an adopter to help me become more confident and find the joy of going out on walks! Here are some videos of me and Moy walking together on leash (video, video2). A calm, confident owner will be helpful in us learning to walk confidently! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. I am an anxious licker and have some skin irritation as a result. This may be an ongoing issue in my forever home, although we hope that the stability, care, and love provided in a home will help me no longer lick out of anxiety! I am currently being treated for pyoderma (bacterial skin infection) and am expected to fully recover in a few days.  NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My bonded pair adoption fee (with Moy) is $1,456.00 CAD including tax ($1300 + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes both of our adoption fees, vet costs, and airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.
