Today we responded to a Florida family who reached out for help with their mama Lab/Poodle mix (1.7 yrs old) and her three 7 month old puppies. Thanks to our amazing volunteer Rizka, we were able to coordinate an early-morning pickup and get this sweet family safely to our incredible veterinary partners at Pavilion Crossing Animal Hospital. All four are currently being examined and are receiving: • &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 All Vaccinations and Rabies • &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Fecals & deworming for everyone • &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Wellness exams and scheduled spay/neuter appointments Meet the crew: • Cinnamon – 38 lbs, brown female puppy ( foster secured!) • Mama – 58 lbs, gentle and deserving of a soft landing • Kratos – male pup, 60 lbs • Gatorade – male pup, 63 lbs None of these dogs were living in the home or walked on a leash, so they will need patience, love, and understanding as they adjust to life as cherished family members. With the right support, they are going to blossom. We still need help! Mama and the two male pups (Kratos & Gatorade) are still in need of fosters or pre-adopters and will be available for pickup TODAY from 5–6 PM at Pavilion Crossing Animal Hospital in Riverview. PLEASE READ THE ANIMAL’S PROFILE AND ALL NOTES BELOW BEFORE APPLYING! Hi friends! I’m **Jett**. I’m a 5-year-old Mini Doodle with a big heart, happy energy, and the best cuddle skills. I’m an energetic, playful, loving, and friendly guy who absolutely adores my people. I enjoy going on walks, running around the yard, chasing lizards, playing with my toys, and then curling up close to my humans for TV time and snuggles. Belly rubs are one of my favorite things. I’m a smart boy and know some commands like sit, down, and stay. I’m crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained. I’m eager to please and very well behaved—my foster says I rarely need correcting and that I’m such a good boy. I do great with small dogs and currently live with my foster sister, Nala. I can be a little protective of my food and treats, but my humans are helping me learn to share, and I’m making good progress. I also get a little excited at mealtime and may jump, but we’re working on that too. My ideal forever home would be with an active family, a fenced backyard where I can run and play, and possibly a small dog sibling. I would love humans who want a loyal, loving companion who enjoys staying close and cuddling. A word from my foster: Jett is a wonderful, affectionate dog who loves being near his humans, enjoys pets and belly rubs, and would be a perfect fit for someone looking for a devoted best friend. He gets along great with a small dog but does guard his food and treats. I’m ready to find my furever home and give all my love to my forever family. Marty is being fostered in PA. Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
