Story
Techno Henson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Techno is slowly learning that the world can be a safe place. While he is still very shy and timid, his confidence grows a little more each day as he watches and follows the lead of other dogs. Techno is looking for an experienced adopter with the patience, time, and understanding to let him progress at his own pace. A home with at least one confident, friendly dog is required, as he relies on canine companions for comfort and reassurance. Because Techno is a flight risk, he will need a secure fenced yard, careful management, and a crate or safe space where he can decompress. He is not yet house trained and will need time to build confidence before venturing outside. Thankfully, he is very food motivated, making positive reinforcement a great tool for earning his trust. Techno may not be your best friend on day one, but for the person willing to give him the space he needs, the reward of watching him blossom into a devoted companion will be truly special. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Aura Provac is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Aura was found as a stray in Providence - she was caught trying to throw herself over a chain-link fence to get into a children's daycare to play with the kids! Nobody ever claimed her, and she was very shut down in the shelter! However, out of the shelter her personality has really bloomed! Aura has opinions, so many opinions! For example: Auras likes include: being with you! Going where you go! Hopping over baby gates to go where you go! Going in between your legs out the door to go where you go! You get the point. Girl is needyyy! Aura loves to cuddle, car rides and enjoys getting dressed up to go out with YOU! Auras dislikes include: being without you! Not going where you go. Being left behind! With a close runner up of: strangers! But luckily for Aura, all strangers are one cuddle away from being a friend. You will just have to get past her barking at you first Aura loves people and definitely would do best with someone home a lot as she does have separation anxiety. Aura is about 2 years old, 10lbs & some sort bichon or maltipoo mix! ! She is fine with other boy dogs and cats but loves, loves, loves her human! She loves kids but would do best with older, dog-savvy kids! Aura is potty trained and would probably do best in a fenced yard since she has a tendency of running through your legs out the door! Aura can jump a baby gate with the agility of a gazelle and has no problem leaping onto the back of the couch from floor. She loves to be an acrobat and will squeeze through small spaces or use a chair as a gateway to a table or counter to steal your tacos (speaking from experience here) If you are looking for a permanent sidekick with a gold medal in the high jump, LOOK NO FURTHER! Aura has a hilarious personality, she is truly one of a kind and would love to never leave your side. If you think Aura would be a good fit for you, apply today! **Due to clinic delays: this puppy will be available for adoption with the collection of an additional $100 spay/neuter voucher deposit, which will be refunded upon receipt of successful procedure at our partnering clinic.   If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Age:   approx 5 years old (Mia)  6 years old ( Coco)  Weight: 12  lbs and 13 pounds My adoption fee is $ 975  which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Coco is a 6-year-old Poodle/Terrier mix weighing about 13 lbs, surrendered to us alongside his best friend, Mia . These two are a bonded pair and take great comfort in navigating the world together. Like Mia, Coco is fearful in new situations and needs time to feel safe. Compared to Mia, he has a more dominant, confident presence and often takes the lead when the two are together. Once he settles in, his curiosity really shines — especially when food is involved! Treats are a great way to earn his trust and help him explore new things. Coco is still learning house manners and will need continued potty training, along with patience and positive reinforcement. In a familiar, safe environment, he’s already beginning to show more of his playful, inquisitive side, particularly when he’s with Mia. Coco would thrive in a calm, understanding home that respects his boundaries, embraces his food motivation, and keeps him together with his bonded companion. With time and consistency, he has so much potential to grow into a confident and loving little guy.   Mia is a 5-year-old Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a soft grey coat, a tiny 12-lb body, and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe. She was surrendered with her best friend, Coco , and the two are a bonded pair who find comfort and confidence in each other. Mia is very fearful when first meeting new people or experiencing new environments. She may freeze, hide, or take time to observe — she’s not sassy or aggressive, just scared. The good news? Once she feels safe (especially with familiar people), her happy, playful curiosity comes out, and she loves showing it off alongside Coco. She’ll need help with potty training and will do best with a patient, understanding home that lets her move at her own pace. A consistent routine and gentle, positive reinforcement will go a long way in helping her continue to build confidence. With time, love, and her pal Coco by her side, Mia has all the ingredients to truly blossom.   If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/July 24, 2026, 4:27 pm

ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Story
Okay, listen.Lady is NOT the easiest dog - at least, not at first and not for the wrong person. You give her an inch and she takes a mile. If she senses hesitation or fear, she WILL take advantage of it and act out until she gets her way like a literal toddler. She will probably get snappy if you push her boundaries too hard and too fast. She will steal the bracelets right off of your wrists. She sheds. She will try to take you out at the kneecaps. She's partially deaf. She's A LOT.But the way this dog LOVES? It's with her entire heart and soul. She loves hard. She loves fiercely. She is loyal and devoted and will worship the ground you walk on. No one will EVER be happier to see you than she is. She's the kind of dog that will imprint on you like a baby duck. She's the kind of dog that you can call your soulmate because the connections she makes with people? Unmatched. Once this girl bonds with you? There's no breaking that bond. She needs time and patience. She's already been done the disservice of being promised time and patience only to be given up on less than 24 hours later. She doesn't need that kind of heartbreak again. If you're firm and consistent with her and you make it clear that you won't tolerate her shenanigans, guess what? HER SHENANIGANS STOP. She's a boundary-tester. She's an envelope-pusher. But if she respects you and you respect her? She stops testing you.Lady Luck is good on a leash and LOVES her walks. She's a fetch expert and pretends she's not. She's good with other dogs and wary of cats. She does not like kids - she's done her time with them and she's over it (probably why she doesn't like her mustache/beard touched at first). She loves car rides and she loves water. She's a 35lb bichon mix. Mixed with what? Sunshine, that's what.Literally all Lady Luck wants is to be with her person. That's it. She does have some separation anxiety which may dissipate as she starts to settle but crate training is recommended. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
