Story
Age:   approx 5 years old (Mia)  6 years old ( Coco)  Weight: 12  lbs and 13 pounds My adoption fee is $ 975  which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Coco is a 6-year-old Poodle/Terrier mix weighing about 13 lbs, surrendered to us alongside his best friend, Mia . These two are a bonded pair and take great comfort in navigating the world together. Like Mia, Coco is fearful in new situations and needs time to feel safe. Compared to Mia, he has a more dominant, confident presence and often takes the lead when the two are together. Once he settles in, his curiosity really shines — especially when food is involved! Treats are a great way to earn his trust and help him explore new things. Coco is still learning house manners and will need continued potty training, along with patience and positive reinforcement. In a familiar, safe environment, he’s already beginning to show more of his playful, inquisitive side, particularly when he’s with Mia. Coco would thrive in a calm, understanding home that respects his boundaries, embraces his food motivation, and keeps him together with his bonded companion. With time and consistency, he has so much potential to grow into a confident and loving little guy.   Mia is a 5-year-old Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a soft grey coat, a tiny 12-lb body, and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe. She was surrendered with her best friend, Coco , and the two are a bonded pair who find comfort and confidence in each other. Mia is very fearful when first meeting new people or experiencing new environments. She may freeze, hide, or take time to observe — she’s not sassy or aggressive, just scared. The good news? Once she feels safe (especially with familiar people), her happy, playful curiosity comes out, and she loves showing it off alongside Coco. She’ll need help with potty training and will do best with a patient, understanding home that lets her move at her own pace. A consistent routine and gentle, positive reinforcement will go a long way in helping her continue to build confidence. With time, love, and her pal Coco by her side, Mia has all the ingredients to truly blossom.   If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/July 11, 2026, 10:47 pm

Story
Adoption Donation   $ 599 Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx  4  years old Weight: 8  lbs.   Kissie has made it to RI and his hoping to find her forever family. Her foster mom says she is adorable, very mellow and has been good mom to her baby. Her baby has a meet and greet this week and now it's her turn to find her happily ever after.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  lauraraia74@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Story
Small in size but huge in personality, Mister is the kind of dog who makes an impression the moment you meet him. He’s smart, expressive, hilarious, and full of opinions — and once you earn his trust, he’s an incredibly fun and loyal little companion. Mister loves to play, has endless energy for adventures and enrichment, and is always ready to work for snacks (which is great, because this clever guy is eager to learn!). He’ll happily jump into your lap for attention once he knows you’re part of his circle. 💜 Mister is looking for a very special home that understands dogs with big feelings. He came from a neglectful situation last winter and missed out on important early socialization and life experiences, so the world can still feel overwhelming to him at times. Because of this, Mister is searching for an adult-only, dog-experienced home that is committed to positive reinforcement training and helping him continue to build confidence. He has a big voice and likes his privacy — unfamiliar people and dogs are something he’ll absolutely let you know about! A quiet neighborhood with a fenced yard would be ideal for him so he can feel safe and comfortable. Mister is currently looking for a solo pet home while we continue learning more about him around other dogs, and he is not a fit for cats. He can become overstimulated when excited and may use his mouth during play, so he needs adopters who are comfortable managing and redirecting mouthy behavior appropriately. Mister also has some resource guarding tendencies with things he believes are “his,” so he will need experienced adopters who understand management, structure, and positive reinforcement training. He gets nervous with handling and grooming as well. Due to his coat, regular grooming is essential, but it’s not something he’s currently comfortable with. His future family should be prepared to work closely with a trainer and groomer to help him feel safer during grooming experiences and be open to sedated grooming when needed to keep him healthy and comfortable. Mister currently takes daily anxiety medication, which has been very helpful for him, and he’s looking for adopters committed to continuing that support. He needs patient people who will respect his boundaries, move at his pace, and celebrate the little wins along the way. In return, you’ll get a goofy, intelligent, deeply entertaining companion with so much potential and so much love to give to the right people. 🐾 **Mister's adoption fee has been generously sponsored, along with a training package for his new family to start off on the right paw**

Story
Meet Avril! Avril is a gentle soul with a heart that's slowly learning how to trust. She can be shy and cautious around people at first, but every little milestone—like the tail wag that took a whole month to appear—feels like a huge victory. She'd love a quiet, adult-only home with experienced adopters who understand that patience is her love language. Avril feels safest with another small, friendly dog companion. She loves spending time in her Foster’s fenced yard, running around with her canine friends, lounging on the porch, or chewing on a favorite stick. While she's independent and happy doing her own thing, once she trusts you, she'll happily curl up nearby on the couch. Avril isn't comfortable with stairs, and is still learning house-training routines. If you're the kind of person who celebrates the small wins and understands that trust can't be rushed, Avril just might be your perfect match. Beneath her timid exterior is an incredibly sweet dog who deserves a chance to bloom. 💕
