Story
We found Cooper in May 2026. Poodle Mix. He was wandering our neighborhood. He had clearly been on the streets for a while. He was terribly matted and unkept. We took him in and got him all fixed up. We believe him to be about 2 years old. He weighed 17.5 pounds and now weighs 19 pounds and the Vet said his weight should be 19-20 pounds to stay healthy. He has all his shots and microchipped June 2026. He also has been fixed, he was not when we found him. We have all records. He is a good boy, super sweet, and kind, but needs a household that has more energy than my 50 years and above home. We knew we could not keep him but wanted to get him healthy and then find him a forever home. We have had him professionally groomed and the groomer told me he was the sweetest boy and no issues with grooming. He is eating Purina Pro Plan dog food. The vet said his eye stains were from poor diet and I can already tell a huge difference from when we got him.

Story
Hello, my name is Cookie, and I am a nice girl with a hopeful heart, looking for my forever home. I am estimated to be about 4 years old and I weigh 14 pounds. The nice people here at the rescue took me for a spa day at groomers and wow, do I feel better. You can see quite a difference in my before and after pictures! I am kind of a dainty and needy pup, my only care is to get attention. My favorite place to be is right on your lap, where I can soak up all the attention and love you have to offer. I'm still a bit unsure of myself and can be a little nervous at times, but with your gentle guidance, I know I can flourish into a confident best friend. I just might need a little extra patience and understanding when it comes to handling. I am not sure what I think about other dogs, I am kind of anxious and tense around them. I kind of just want them to stay away from me. So, I wouldn't mind at all to be your one and only love. I would love it if you came to meet me, I can't wait to have a family all to myself. I will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old. If you are interested in Cookie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mia is what is called a "Daisy Dog", a designer breed. "Daisy Dogs" were bred in the 1960's from a Poodle, Shih Tzu, and Bichon to create the 'perfect' dog.   Mia is a sweet 9-year-old "Daisy" dog.  She is very affectionate and gentle.  Mia is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Bernie! If you've been searching for a cheerful little sidekick who's always ready for life's next adventure, Bernie may just be your perfect match! This handsome 2-year-old Bichon Frise and Miniature Poodle mix (our best guess) weighs in at a petite 11 pounds, making him the perfect size for everything from neighborhood strolls to cozy movie nights on the couch. Bernie entered our care as a stray with a microchip that unfortunately was never registered, and despite every effort to locate his family, no one ever came looking for him. Now he's ready to leave his past behind and find the forever home he has always deserved. Bernie is the kind of dog who seems to make friends wherever he goes. He has a sweet, happy-go-lucky personality and genuinely enjoys meeting new people. Whether you're introducing him to friends, taking him on an outing, or simply spending time together at home, Bernie is happiest when he's with his people. He also rides wonderfully in the car, making him an excellent companion for road trips, pup cups, or tagging along on your daily errands. In his foster home, Bernie has done well with other dogs and hasn't shown any concern around cats. He would likely do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog. This fluffy little gentleman has also proven himself to be quite the well-mannered houseguest. He is crate trained, has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners, and enjoys getting out for walks where he can explore the neighborhood one sniff at a time. Like many Bichon Frise and Poodle mixes, Bernie will require regular professional grooming and routine coat maintenance at home. When he arrived, his coat had become quite overgrown and matted, so his future family should be prepared to keep up with regular brushing and grooming appointments to ensure he stays comfortable, healthy, and looking his very best. Bernie has left his stray days behind and is ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a family who will cherish him, spoil him just a little (okay... maybe a lot), and love him unconditionally. In return, he'll reward you with endless companionship, a happy little tail wag, and enough love to brighten even the toughest days. If you're ready to welcome this fluffy little gentleman into your heart and home, Bernie is ready to love you furever.: Bernie is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for grooming (included in the adoption fee)Scheduled for neuter at our partner Veterinary office (included in the adoption fee).ADOPTION FEE: $400 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. Story
MEET PIPPA: Some dogs arrive at the shelter with confidence. Pippa arrived with fear. At just 7 pounds, and 4 years of age, the world felt impossibly big for this tiny little girl, and the loud, unfamiliar shelter was an overwhelming place to be. It's hard to imagine how frightened she must have been, waiting for someone who never came. Thankfully, her story didn't end there. Once she was transferred into a loving foster home, the scared little stray began to realize that people could be kind, life could be safe, and love was still waiting for her. Pippa has blossomed into an affectionate little companion who loves being close to her people. She's perfectly content being scooped up for cuddles, happily rides along on car adventures, and has already mastered the art of couch snuggles. She has no trouble navigating stairs, is crate trained, and has demonstrated an excellent understanding of house manners. Pippa has done well with other dogs and has also met cats without concern. Because of her tiny stature, she'll need a family that understands she can easily be injured by rough play with much larger dogs, even if everyone has the best intentions. She would also do best with older, mature, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully handle such a petite pup. The big world is still a little intimidating for Pippa, so she'll benefit from continued confidence-building and leash training as she learns that adventures outside aren't so scary after all. She's a quiet little girl who isn't known for being vocal, making her an easy companion to have around the house. Like many Maltese and Yorkie mixes, Pippa will require regular professional grooming, along with routine brushing at home, to keep her beautiful coat healthy, comfortable, and free of painful mats. Due to her size and limited recall, Pippa is not a candidate for a tether or invisible fence. A secure, physically fenced yard will help keep this tiny girl safe while she enjoys exploring at her own pace. Pippa has spent enough time wondering where she belonged. Now she's ready to find a family who will cherish her, protect her, spoil her with endless snuggles, keep her looking her very best, and love her furever.
