Story
Meet Ellie
Ellie is a sweet, gentle soul looking for her forever family. This 4-year-old, 16 lb miniature Poodle mix was found as a stray in Detroit wearing an invisible fence collar, but sadly no one came to reclaim her. Now she’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish her.
Ellie is a quiet, affectionate girl who may be a little shy at first introductions, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She enjoys attention and companionship and has done well with other dogs. Cats don’t seem to bother her, making her a nice fit for a variety of homes. Ellie would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children or an adult-only household where her gentle nature can be respected.
She is crate trained and has shown a great understanding of house manners, making her an easy addition to the right home. Ellie has enjoyed the security of her foster’s fenced yard and would love a similar setup, though it has been clearly determined that invisible fences are not appropriate for her.
Ellie can be a bit head-shy, especially with leashes, and will need patient, positive reinforcement to help her build confidence and overcome these fears. As a Poodle mix, she will also require regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best.
If you’re looking for a quiet, loving companion who just wants to feel safe and adored, Ellie may be the perfect match. She’s ready to give her whole heart to a family who will love her furever.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
