Story
Abigail has had a whirlwind week and is ready for a new life. This sweet crusty matted old lady was discarded locally unable to see past her hair, tightly matted over her whole body. She was never spayed and had multiple mammary tumors that we had removed plus a spay and dental, and she’s healing nicely. The masses were a low grade cancer with no sign of spread right now, so she should just be monitored going forward for new lumps or metastasis down the road. But overall a good prognosis and we are hopeful she will have some quality years ahead of her. She’s very sweet, loves to eat, sleeps well cuddled in soft blankets, and howls like a wolf with excitement at feeding time. She’s 13lbs and some type of poodle/maltese type with long tall legs, and probably at least 10-12 years old. She doesn’t mind other small gentle dogs and settles into a home picking up a routine very quickly and not making waves. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Abigail in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Flash, the charming 10 year old poodle with a heart full of love. Weighing just 15 pounds, Flash has found comfort in a loving and patient foster home, where he's doing great! This cutie walks nicely on a leash and enjoys car rides and playing with toys. Flash’s ideal home would be with adults or older teens who can offer him a calm and predictable environment. Flash’s owner was male and, believe it or not, he is most comfortable with them. Young children, while wonderful, would be a bit too much for this sensitive soul.  Flash would do best as an only dog so that he can calmly acclimate to his home. He has been through quite a bit and will definitely need some patience and time.  Look at Flash enjoying the snow here: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2612209105830481 He’s neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations, so he’s ready to start his next chapter. Could that be with you? If you're ready to give Flash the loving forever home he deserves, please fill out an application at njshpetrescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 18, 2026, 4:33 pm

Story
Brownie came to Cameron Animal Rescue from a breeding farm where he was not doing well. At the time of his arrival he was scared of everything but his buddy, Molly, the little old white dog. She was his safety net, and she has slowly taught him how to be a dog. Brownie has come out of his shell significantly, but he is still nervous and shy with new people and places, and needs a quiet, patient home. Brownie is healthy- although he has discovered a love of food, and it would be good for him to loose a few pounds. He is approximately 3 years old, and he is still active and playful. He loves running around with other dogs; he must be adopted to a home with another dog who can play with him, and can continue to guide him and provide a good example for him when he is scared. He likes going for walks, although unexpected noises can scare him, he is getting braver and braver. Once he knows you Brownie is quietly affectionate- sitting next to you, bringing you toys to share, and coming over for petting very frequently. He is always gentle, (even when scared), but he needs a quiet and patient home, who will help him continue to progress. Brownie is ok with cats, but treats them like small dogs and wants to play with them. Brownie is neutered; he has had his full series of DHLPPi (distemper), Rabies, and Bordetella vaccines. He has been tested for heartworm and tick-bourne diseases and is negative; he has been on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventive. He has been fecal tested and fully dewormed. He is microchipped, and his adoption includes 1 month of free insurance. Do you have the right home for this special boy? Email CAHadoptions@gmail.com for more information.

Story
Snowflake is a sweet little mini poodle with a gentle soul and a happy heart. She’s about a year old, weighs around 11 pounds, and is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Snowflake was found as a stray and sadly went unclaimed, but she’s safe now and ready for a fresh start. She’s very friendly with people and does well with other dogs. Snowflake loves companionship and wants to be near her people. She does have some separation anxiety, which her foster home is actively working on, and she’s already making progress. Because of this, she’d do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and can continue helping her build confidence. She was shaved down when she came in so she could be cleaned up comfortably, but her fluffy poodle coat will grow back beautifully. Snowflake is a loving little dog who just wants stability, patience, and someone to be her safe place. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Story
Luci is a 3-year-old Poodle girl weighing in at about 9 lbs. She may be a bit tentative at first, but with a little patience and kindness, she truly blossoms. Each day she’s gaining confidence and getting better and braver all the time. Luci enjoys being petted and loved on, once she feels safe, and she has a calm, affectionate nature that makes her a wonderful companion. She gets along well with other dogs, which helps her feel more comfortable and confident in her environment. She is currently working on her housebreaking and learning to walk on a leash, and she’s making steady progress with consistency and encouragement. Luci would do best in a patient, gentle home that understands she just needs a little time to fully shine. If you’re looking for a sweet, soft-hearted dog to grow with and love, Luci could be the perfect addition to your family 🐾💗
