You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Special Needs Girl - Has Hypothyroidism & Cushing's Disease Hello world, my name is Angel and yes I am one sweet angel of a girl. My mom kinda over loved me with people food, and as long as she gave it to me, I ate it. My mom can no longer care for me, so I am looking for a new home.  I am a girl of 9 years old and right now I am weighing in at 27lbs. Need to get that down to 20-23lbs. I am looking for a laid back home where someone is not gone for long hours and can get me outside potty every few hours and maybe take me on a daily walk. No stairs in the home please and prefer no children. I am a girl that will need to go to the grooming salon on a regular basis to keep my puppyish looks because everyone says I am a cutie pie. I will follow you around the house just to be near you. I would love to sit with you on the couch or on your lap. I am a loyal, loving girl.I do take Levothyroxine for my thyroid, and the supplement Melatonin for Cushing's.    If interested, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:  adoption application For those viewing on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal please click on More About Rose's Rescue, you may fill out adoption application from there. Story
Meet Rocket 💗🐾 Rocket is a Miniature Poodle who was born in September, 2021 and weighs 14 pounds. Rocket is shy. He can be nippy if someone swoops in too quickly and scares him. We are working on this and he is improving. If you are patient and get down on his level, he warms up and enjoys cuddling and interacting. He is clearly very curious and wants to get involved, but is timid initially. He is friendly with other dogs. He also was found to have severe dental disease and had to have all but 8 teeth pulled. Rocket is a recent arrival from a high volume breeder in Amish country and probably aged out of the baby makin' business. Being rescued from a high volume breeder doesn't mean there is anything wrong, The dog could have been the wrong color, size, fur, whatever or now retired from breeding. We are lucky enough to work with a vet in the area who cares enough to scoop up these dogs and get them adopted instead of ........?? Adoption fee is $400 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application. Complete and email back to applications@AshlandHumane.org We are an all volunteer-based organization that does not have a building or a staff, only 8 members with jobs and families, trying to make a difference. We do not have the volunteer manpower to show animals to non-approved applicants. If your application gets screened and approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet and you can decide if this is the right pet for you. Thank you for understanding! We definitely want all our rescued animals to find great families! Thank you for your interest in a Rescue Pet! Adopt, don't shop!

Story
Geppetto is a 9 year old mini red poodle who doesn’t act a day over 1. He currently lives with two other dogs, a labradoodle and a Newfoundland mix. He is very well trained, intelligent, independent, and very playful. He LOVES fetching, playing with sticks, running around, cuddling, and napping. He would do best with a fence. He is very low maintenance and has a small appetite. He does not like being held or touched near his hips. He loves other dogs but could be a single dog in a quiet household. He can resource guard toys and treats. Geppetto has never met a child but could coexist with older children who honor boundaries. He is a very affectionate boy and has never pottied in the house. He was recently at the vet in 1/26 and I am happy to have him updated on vaccinates for the adopter. SERIOUS inquires only. The reason he is listed for adoption is because one of my dogs is handicapped and Geppetto can create and environment that makes it difficult for him to relax.

Story
Say hello to Fozzie Bear (aka Fuzz Bucket or FB), a fuzzy half sheep, half muppet dog who’s 95 percent the sweetest boy and 5 percent a spicy little turd. Fozzie is about 8.5 years old and around 10 pounds, and we think he’s probably a Poodle mix of some kind (maybe Poodle-Shih Tzu?). He came into rescue after his owner passed away. Fozzie is mostly a typical dog who loves to go on walks and play with toys. He enjoys running around in the yard, but a home without a fenced yard wouldn’t be a deal-breaker as long as he got enough on-leash time outside. He seems to be fully house trained and hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home. What he needs more than anything is a home with patience. Fozzie’s biggest challenge is that he’s got some guarding behaviors, so he can get a little snippy under specific circumstances, like when he’s laying next to one person on the couch, and another person tries to pet him or get him off the couch. His evil twin also sometimes shows up at the groomer or the vet, and occasionally around food if other dogs enter his personal space. His little outbursts are relatively few and far between as long as he stays on his medications (fluoxetine and trazodone), and outside of the occasional tiff with the house dogs, he’s done pretty well with all of them. He desperately wants to be friends with the house Chihuahua, but she’s also a bit of a turd and so that hasn’t worked out so well for Fozzie. She’s toothless and still manages to boss him around somehow. Despite his imperfections, Fozzie is a wonderful little dog with a ton of love to give. Here’s what we think he needs in a new home to be successful: - An adult-only home. We think children won’t have the maturity to understand that dogs are allowed to have boundaries, too. - A home where someone is around most of the time. Fozzie can be an insecure little fella, and being alone too long stresses him out. He’s never been destructive in any way, even with run of the house, but he’s not the kind of dog who would be happy or comfortable being home alone for 8 or 10 hours several days a week. - A home with dog experience that is willing to work with and around his quirks. Fozzie and his previous owner worked very successfully with a trainer, so he’s definitely trainable. His foster mom and dad have found him totally manageable! - A home without other dogs OR with other dogs his size. We could see his mouth writing checks his butt can’t cash with larger dogs. If there are other dogs in the home, intros should be slow, and ideally, he could be kept somewhere separate while the humans are away just in case. If you love cute, curly little dogs and are ready for the most rewarding challenge ever, Fozzie Bear is your man! ———————————————————- The adoption donation for Fozzie Bear is $250. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Mahoning County/Columbiana County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowner’s Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. —————————- Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com Our primary form of communication is email. Please check your spam/junk folder so you don’t miss any emails! We do send an email confirming we received your application but please be patient. It is not an auto response. It must be sent manually. Our email is run by volunteers and is not monitored 24/7. We recommend using a computer, laptop or tablet to fill out the application. Questions do not always show up in full on a phone. Leaving a field empty will result in the application not processing. If you get a grey screen, scroll up or down to see which field you left blank. Follow the prompt to continue. ————— **IMPORTANT ** Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Don’t waste your time clicking on it! Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23: Under a year - $350 cash/check $360 PayPal/Venmo Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check $260 PayPal/Venmo Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check $210 PayPal/Venmo We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee if you are using PayPal or Venmo. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Every dollar matters and those lost dollars means less dogs we can fund and help. Story
Meet Solar, a vibrant and vocal 1-year-old Poodle who is ready to bring plenty of energy and personality into your life! This spirited girl isn`t afraid to use her long, graceful legs to get around, and she loves to `talk` to her favorite people. Because Solar had a rough start to life, she is looking for a forever home with an experienced dog owner who is dedicated to guiding her through new experiences with positive reinforcement, while also being confident enough to hold her accountable for her puppy shenanigans.Solar is a true `Velcro dog` who attaches to her people quickly, but she can get excited quite easily, which sometimes causes her to temporarily forget her manners. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children 12 years and older. When she’s not hanging out with her humans, she enjoys spending time in playgroup, where she prefers friends who are playful but not overly physical. Potential adopters should also keep in mind that Solar’s beautiful coat will require frequent professional grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. If you are an experienced owner looking for a devoted companion and are interested in learning more about Solar or scheduling a meet-and-greet, please email our team at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov today. Please note that Solar is not available for same-day meet-and-greets, so we look forward to coordinating a time for you to meet this special girl soon!
