Story
💛 Name: Carlo 💛 Age: 10 💛 Breed: poodle mix 💛 Weight: 22 lb 💛 Fostered in: Toronto 💛 Ideal family: loving, kind family who is home often November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month and while November may be almost over, it’s still the perfect time to welcome a senior dog into your life — especially one as wonderful as CARLO. At 10 years old and 22lbs, this sweet poodle mix has all the best qualities that make senior dogs so special. Carlo is gentle, steady, and easy to love. He gets along well with other dogs - cats are unknown but we think he will be fine with his calm nature. He enjoys being outside, and walks nicely on a leash. He does reasonably well with stairs, and while he’s still getting used to housetraining, he’s eager to please and making progress. That said, as we age some of us have to go more often so Carlo may need support in that regard. Carlo is not super active, preferring a calmer pace and a cozy spot near his people. In fact, he’s a true Velcro dog who loves being close and soaking up every bit of affection. He has quickly developed a bond (aka obsession) with his foster mom but is friendly to others he meets. He seems to have a slight preference towards women but if approached in the right way by men, he is just fine. Senior dogs bring a sense of calm, gratitude, and companionship that’s hard to match, and Carlo is ready to share all of that with a forever family. If you’ve been considering adopting a senior pup, Carlo is the perfect reminder that the best things in life only get better with time. ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Story
Ollie and Lulu were surrendered to us when their owner no longer had the time to care for them. They both had untreated medical issues and severe dental disease, leaving them extremely uncomfortable and lethargic. After receiving treatment they became almost entirely different dogs. Ollie and Lulu may be seniors but they sure do like to go for walks and run around the yard together. They are a volunteer favourite because of their goofy and sweet dispositions. They are selective with dogs and would only do well in a home with another calm dog that does not intimidate or become rough with them. Ollie does bark at other dogs in passing, while Lulu ignores them. Ollie and Lulu would do well in just about any home. They have been great with respectful children that are experienced with dogs. Lulu can sometimes have grumpy moments when she wants her space to nap. It's important to look for the obvious signs when she needs alone time. Ollie is always happy and ready for a cuddle. This cute duo have great house manners, they frequently go on sleepovers with our dedicated volunteers who report they are always on their best behaviour.
