Story
Stevie is a one-year-old small dog with a gentle soul and a big heart for his people. He thrives on companionship and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, as he can experience separation anxiety when left alone. With patience and consistency, he forms a deep bond and becomes a loyal little shadow. Stevie can be a bit overwhelmed by big city life and would need an adopter who understands this and is willing to go slow, offering reassurance as he builds confidence in new environments. A calmer home setting would be ideal for him. He gets along well with other dogs and is cat-friendly, making him a great fit for a pet-friendly household. Stevie would do best with older children only, as he prefers a quieter, more predictable environment. If you’re looking for a devoted companion and have the time and patience to help a young dog feel safe and secure, Stevie could be your perfect match. https://www.familiarhearts.org/adoptable-pets Kennel License 18972

Story
This handsome fella is named Einstein. A 1-year-old Poodle mix, he weighs 39 pounds and will mature to 45-50 pounds. When he came into rescue, he was emaciated, and we're pleased with the weight he's put on already. His long coat will need to be groomed periodically. This is a real sweetheart who loves to play, exercise and run around as fast as he can. He'd be more than happy to go home with you! (ME,RW, 1/2/26) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **January 7, 2026, 12:30 pm

Story
Cilantro was one of the most badly matted dogs we have ever taken into rescue. He was found roaming the streets and was in sorry shape, indeed! Along with the matting of his coat, our vet discovered that he had a major hernia, which was immediately removed. A Doodle mix, he is about 2 years old and weighs 53 pounds. Now he's a happy, happy boy who is super sweet, a real cuddle bug who loves toys and going on walks. In fact, he's a real social butterfly! Story
Fall is in the air, and with it comes colorful leaves and our Fall litter of Labradoodle pups! Their names are Truffle, Chestnut, Cider, Butternut, Maple, and Marshmallow. They're 4 months old, weigh about 12 pounds and will mature to 40 pounds or so. They are dog friendly, very sweet, love being held, and although they warm up quickly, at first they can be a tad bit shy. Oh, my! These babies would make a great addition to any family. &#194&#147Thanksgiving&#194&#148 for such wonderful pups! Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Alfie to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Alfie ultimately finalizing his adoption. From the moment Alfie arrived in our arms at just eight weeks old, it was clear he was a little soul who had already been deeply loved. His prior owner brought him to us with a very heavy heart. After losing her husband and suddenly becoming the only caretaker in her home, she realized that although her desire for companionship was strong, the timing simply wasn’t right for her to take on the needs of a growing puppy. Wanting only the very best future for him, she made the brave and loving choice to entrust him to us so he could find the life she wished she could give him. And truly… this little boy is something special. Alfie is a purebred Miniature Poodle with a soft, beautiful coat and a naturally sweet, intuitive nature. He currently weighs 6 lbs and is expected to mature around 10–12 lbs—small enough to be the perfect lap companion, but sturdy enough to join you in your day-to-day adventures. His temperament is remarkable: affectionate, bright, deeply social, and so eager to bond. He is one of those rare puppies who wears joy so naturally that you feel it simply by being in his presence. He adores people and naturally gravitates toward connection—cuddling against you during quiet moments, gently curling up beside you at night, or following you from room to room as if every part of your world fascinates him. He sleeps beautifully in bed with you, but he is also crate trained and will settle comfortably if a crate-at-night routine fits better in your home. Around other dogs, Alfie shines just as brightly. He is playful, respectful, and wonderfully social—one of those dogs who instantly makes friends wherever he goes. He’s been fantastic at the groomers, enjoys little road trips around town, and carries an innate curiosity that will make exploring the world alongside him truly special. House training is going wonderfully so far. He follows a reliable schedule every couple of hours and also understands puppy pads if needed. Leash training has just begun now that his vaccines are complete, and given his intelligence and eagerness to please, we expect he’ll catch on quickly. He is very much a puppy ready to step confidently into the world. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/alfie It covers all of his veterinary care to date (vaccines, microchip/registration, fecal testing, deworming, his full exam, and his issued health certificate), as well as the months of care, meals, grooming upkeep, and the early training foundation he has received with us. Every adoption directly supports our ability to continue rescuing and preparing dogs like Alfie for the beautiful lives they deserve. Alfie is one of those puppies who feels like a gift the moment you meet him—soft-hearted, emotionally attuned, and overflowing with the kind of warmth that makes a home feel fuller and brighter. Whoever opens their heart to him will be gaining a lifelong friend who gives his whole heart in return.

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 15th 2026 to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Griff to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Griff ultimately finalizing his adoption. Meet Griffin, affectionately known as “Griff” — and yes, he truly loves his nickname. Born on Valentine’s Day (2/14/24), Griff is a little love through and through, the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes and leaves a lasting impression on every heart he meets. Griff is a Poodle/Maltese mix, weighing 12.4 lbs fully grown, and he is right where he should be - healthy, balanced, and beautifully proportioned. His temperament matches his looks perfectly: outgoing, affectionate, joyful, and incredibly easy to love. He greets every person he meets with a wagging tail and happy kisses, genuinely thrilled to make a new friend. He carries a confident but gentle energy that makes him feel immediately familiar, like he’s always belonged. He is wonderful with other dogs and truly enjoys playful companionship. Griff loves to romp around and would thrive in a home with a sweet, playful canine friend. That said, if he were to become someone’s one and only, he would shine just as brightly. He bonds deeply with his humans and is more than happy to fill his days hanging out, relaxing, and simply being part of whatever life brings. He has that special quality of being adaptable, content playing when it’s time to play, and perfectly happy settling in when it’s time to relax. Griff is not high energy, but don’t mistake that for laziness, he loves walks and can absolutely keep up. Walks are one of his favorite things, and he approaches them with enthusiasm and joy. Around the house, his manners are excellent. He listens well, responds beautifully, and is very food motivated, which has made his training progress a pleasure to watch. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night without issue, and he is house trained, typically going outside every 3–4 hours. Griff also loves car rides of any length and makes a wonderful road trip companion. He is not a barker, but he will politely alert you to unfamiliar noises, making him attentive without being excessive. Overall, Griff is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into a home — affectionate, well-mannered, intuitive, and deeply loving. He is the perfect blend of playful companion and calm best friend, and he is truly ready to give his whole heart to the family who chooses him. His Adoption Fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/griff It Griffin’s neuter, vaccines, microchip/registration, and exam with our veterinarian. An additional cost has been added to cover his grooming immediately prior to his neuter, as well as the long-acting antibiotic injection administered to aid in his neuter recovery. This injectable antibiotic is more costly than oral medication but is recommended, as it remains consistently in his system for the full two weeks during healing. As always, Griffin’s adoption fee also reflects the months of care, continued grooming, and training he has received while with us. Griff is ready, ready to love, ready to belong, and ready to become someone’s best friend for life. 💛

Story
I rescued Champion in 2021 from a home where he was not receiving love or attention. He requires all of my attention but life has shifted in a way that makes that a much more difficult task to achieve. I am the sole caregiver for my sick mother and I also now have a one year old. Champion is a sweet dog who loves cuddles. He does have some separation anxiety but possibly can be calmed with intervention
