Location: Oklahoma (transport to an approved home in certain areas)Who remembers Pickles? Pickles was at the shelter in Oklahoma with Relish. We lost Relish to Parvo but Pickles was fine. He was kept in isolation for the required amount of time and is perfectly fine.Pickles is about 4ish years old, 12 pounds, and one handsome Poodle. He will need a patient adopter as he is still a little timid about coming to you. Talking and taking it slow are huge for him.He is housetrained, crate trained, leash trained and good with dogs. (not sure about kids or cats).Pickles has this gorgeous coat and his eyes will melt your heart. ##2715808##

Story
Location: Knoxville, TN area (transport to an approved home in certain areas) Meet Kelce Jane (and no… not that Kelce )Kelce Jane is a 1.5 year old Doodle mix with beauty, brains, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting. At 35 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized sidekick for someone looking for a dog who can keep up with adventures but still believes couches were invented for naps. This girl is smart-smart. She already knows sit, stay, lay down, and roll over… which honestly feels a little show-offy if we’re being real. She’s leash trained, crate trained, housetrained, and does well with grooming appointments — although she prefers to arrive fashionably medicated because anxiety is real and spa days are stressful.Kelce Jane loves other dogs and would happily spend her days running, playing, and being everybody’s bestie. We aren’t sure how she feels about cats yet, but she would do best with kids over 10 who understand that sometimes a girl needs her personal space and a little respect for her doodle drama. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, and officially ready to stop auditioning for temporary homes and start living her happily ever after. If you’re looking for a dog with personality, manners, and just enough sass to make life entertaining, Kelce Jane may be your girl. **we do not allow electric fences/halo collars, runners/tethers, or doggy doors**  ##2732023##

Story
Bentley is being fostered in Illinois. Bentley has some vision.Bentley, a reserved, easy-going gentleman is looking for a calm, relaxed housemate/best friend. He was recently interviewed about his special search. What would your perfect “digs” include?-I am very shy, so it would have an area to sleep and dine privately with some storage for my soft, plushy toy stash. In addition I would need a second cozy dog bed for relaxing and just “being” closer to my human(s) in the common area.-Ideally it must also include green space. I love to be outdoors! The words “outside” or “walk” just start my tail a-wagging uncontrollably. (See video) A leisurely jaunt at a medium waddle with an occasional relaxed trot or a super fun “Sniffari” is enjoyed several times a day!Would you share the qualities you need in a housemate/best friend?- My person will need to be patient, intuitive and willing to take the time for trust building. (As an introvert, I can be a puzzle and full of contradictions). Here are a few examples....I require a large perimeter of personal space, but offer the same to my person. I am low-maintenance, well-mannered and not an in-your-face attention-seeker, yet I also feel safe and the most comfortable knowing my human is nearby. This makes me an ideal housemate for a retiree or a remote worker.A cuddle bug I am not, yet I have been known to fall asleep in a lap occasionally and I find head scratches or butt and back rubs absolutely irresistible.Meeting humans is difficult for me, yet I approach well-mannered dogs happily. What do you consider your finest quality?-I am agreeable. Dress me up in a silly sweater, wipe my dirty toes when I come in the house, give me a bath, take a car ride.....as long as I am with you, I’m all in.And your weakest?-I am working on conquering my insecurities. I get anxious when I am home alone for a long stretch, so I sometimes have potty accidents.Bentley, what else would you like to tell folks?-I sleep through the night and during the day it is my mission to provide quiet company, put a smile on your face and love in your heart.BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Marty is being fostered in PA. 1-17-2026 Update for Marty Marty is doing really well in his foster home and is still a spunky little man with a bit of arthritis in his backend but it doesn't slow him down. Marty's hearing continues to be pretty good for his age and he is right in the mix of his foster siblings when Mom comes home after being out for any time. Marty's hair has grown in nicely on his back. He was almost bald when he came to his foster home. Marty's foster mom had never seen a change in a foster's personality quite as drastic as she did following Marty's dental, when all of his teeth had to be removed. Some teeth were so badly decayed that they had begun to calcify and attach to his jaw bones. After a few days of recovery, he began to eat and to be interested in the world. Marty eats soaked kibble with some soft food mixed in and eats every bite of each meal. He is now on 4 medications for his congestive heart failure and is doing very well with just an occasional cough. Fun facts about Marty: -He LOVES burrowing into beds that have a flap for him to crawl under -He is not safe when on furniture because he will quickly decide he wants off and give no warning and has no fear. -Marty never barks -Marty is smaller than the two cats in his foster home and really doesn't care. :) Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Mokie’s a 3yo 16lb poodle mix. He’s dog friendly. He’s house. Pee pad and crate trained. He’s previous people had a hanging bell that he would ring to go out to potty. He’s good in a secure fenced in yard and/or going for harness leashed walks. He will need continued work on harness leashed walks, his foster walks him with a double leash method. He loves to play with soft toys, have the ball thrown for him when he asks and puzzle mats. He likes to be with his people to cuddle, get belly rubs, give kisses and just be close. He’s good with other dogs but tends to need slow intros to them and new people. He’s playful, attentive, smart and focused on his human. Mokie's foster requires an adult only home with no kids or ones that visit where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, have steps to get onto furniture since he shouldn’t jump, along with leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Mokie as all dogs should have at least 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Mokie had surgery on his right femur when he was a puppy which doesn’t prevent him from running but can be sensitive to touch. He’s neutered, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently in Trevose, PA. If your home meets the needed requirements and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Story
Meet Jack! Jack is a male 1 1/2 year old, 28 pound Goldendoodle who requires an experienced dog handler to be his “person”.  Jack is very loyal to one person and perceives it is his responsibility to guard that individual by barking strongly when anyone approaches, at times even familiar humans.  Jack also guards his toys from people and becomes upset when attempts are made to take a toy.  He does enjoy playing and engaging in a game of fetch.  He needs an experienced adopter who understands his behavior and how to work with him, because the majority of the time he's an amazing dog. Jack is terrific with other dogs.  His foster pack consists of a male mini-poodle, a male Pomeranian and two female mixed breed medium to large dogs.  He understands that he is at the bottom of the pack and shares food, water and toys with the other canines. An 8 year old recently adopted Siamese cat is Jack’s favorite bedtime companion.  The two enjoy a peaceful co-existence.  Potential adopters would ideally reside by themselves or with other adults.  Living with children or elders is not recommended.   Although Jack is very sweet and active as a young dog he is can unpredictable in the situations already described so he needs a patient adopter willing to work with him. In spite of this Jack is loyal and loves his human more than anything. He's hoping to find his person.   He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Please apply if you think you could be Jack's furever human! https://peytonsplaceanimalrescue.org/adoption-application/ ##2732295##
