Story
Meet Fillmore!Fillmore is a 8-9 year-old, 13-pound Shih Tzu mix with a huge personality and an even bigger heart! Despite having very limited vision, this happy little guy doesn’t let anything slow him down. He’s curious, playful, affectionate, and almost always has his tail wagging.Fillmore loves exploring, sniffing around the yard, playing with other dogs, eating, and finding a cozy lap for a nap. He’s very food motivated and has quickly learned the layout of his foster home, navigating stairs, furniture, and his surroundings with impressive confidence.Fillmore would love a canine playmate and enjoys having other dogs around. Because of his limited vision, he does best with people who understand that he needs communication through voice, sound, and touch rather than visual cues. A securely fenced yard is essential, and young children may be too unpredictable for him.He can be a little vocal when excited—especially when meals or playtime are involved—and he may occasionally voice his opinion when he thinks he’s been unfairly corrected. But underneath all that personality is an incredibly sweet, resilient little dog who has adapted beautifully to his world. If you’re looking for a happy, cuddly, curious companion who sees life as an adventure, Fillmore might be your guy!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200.   Meet Chase Male DOB: May 7, 2026 Weight: 5 lbs (current — still growing) Breed: Poodle / Terrier Mix Expected Size: Small breed (small to medium when fully grown) Neutered (Fixed): Pending (age-appropriate) Vaccines: In Progress (puppy vaccines up to date for age) Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Chase is a sweet, gentle, and loving young puppy with a calm and affectionate nature. He enjoys being close to people and feels safest when he is being held, comforted, or included in daily life. He has a soft personality and a kind spirit that makes him easy to fall in love with. At this very young age, Chase is still learning about the world around him. Everything is new, and he is in a critical stage of development where love, structure, and positive experiences will shape the adult dog he becomes. He enjoys quiet cuddles, gentle play, and exploring at a puppy pace. As a Poodle / Terrier mix, Chase is likely to grow into a smart, curious, and people-oriented dog. This mix often produces dogs that are affectionate, alert, and eager to bond closely with their families. He will benefit from guidance, early training, and positive reinforcement as he grows. Chase would thrive in a home prepared for: Ongoing puppy training and supervision Daily care, playtime, and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being He is in the earliest stage of life and will need a family ready for the full puppy journey, including training, patience, and long-term commitment. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Like most rescue puppies, Chase may not have had early structure, exposure, or training before entering care. Puppies at this age are still developing basic life skills and require constant supervision and gentle guidance. Adopters should expect normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, accidents, teething, nighttime wakeups, and learning household routines. These are completely normal and will improve with consistency and training. Chase will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Patience, consistency, and supervision Gentle guidance during development Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn routine 3 months to feel fully at home With stability and love, Chase will grow into a confident, happy companion. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes training, exercise, routine veterinary care, and emotional responsibility. Chase will need: Routine vet visits and vaccine boosters Preventative care (fleas, ticks, parasites) Proper nutrition for healthy growth Daily exercise and enrichment Safe indoor living environment Ongoing training and socialization Because he is so young, consistency, structure, and supervision are essential for healthy development. Chase is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Bruno – Sweet, Easygoing & Ready to BlossomMeet Bruno, a 5-year-old, Mini Goldendoodle weighing around 30 pounds. Bruno is a sweet, friendly boy who is adjusting surprisingly well to his new foster life since joining CAWS.Bruno is friendly with new people but takes a little time to fully relax. In just a few days, he has already made great progress—he’s coming inside on his own, following his foster family around, and starting to show more of his personality. He’s becoming quite the little shadow, especially with his foster dad!Bruno has beautiful light blue eyes and is deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down. He’ll simply need to learn to communicate through hand signals and other visual cues.He is mostly quiet, mostly house trained, and has good manners overall. He enjoys being outside but is becoming more comfortable indoors. He does like chewing on blankets, so some fun chew toys will be right up his alley!Bruno is fantastic with other dogs and currently lives with five canine companions. He’s very easygoing and has recently started playing with the younger dogs. He would likely enjoy having another friendly dog in his forever home. He is reportedly good with cats he has previously lived with and has been friendly with everyone he meets.Bruno isn’t quite a cuddle bug yet, but he’s definitely warming up! He loves having his hind end scratched and is increasingly happiest when he’s hanging out near his people.Bruno is a sweet, low-key guy who is making wonderful progress and discovering that being part of a family is pretty great. ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Max – A Handsome, Sweet & Loyal CompanionMeet Max, a 3-year-old Aussie/Poodle mix weighing 55 pounds. With his soulful eyes, unique coloring, and fluffy coat, Max is one handsome guy—and his sweet personality makes him even more lovable.Max is a total sweetheart who absolutely loves his people and thrives on affection. He’s also a great adventure buddy! He walks beautifully on leash and loves going for walks and playing fetch. When the fun is over, he’s happy to settle in and enjoy some quality time with his person.Max is fully housetrained and crate trained, making him a wonderful addition to a home looking for an easygoing companion.Max can be nervous when meeting other dogs, so he’ll need slow, patient introductions and a canine friend who understands boundaries and gives him time to warm up. He is not a candidate for a home with cats. His history with children is unknown, so a calmer home with adults or older, dog-savvy children would be best. And because that gorgeous fluffy coat doesn’t stay that way on its own, Max will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, handsome guy who is ready to join you for walks, games of fetch, and plenty of couch time, Max may be your perfect match! ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
