Story
Meet Charlie, the affectionate snuggle bug seeking a loving home! He thrives on companionship and trust. While he will bark at new dogs and people, he calms down with time. Charlie gets along well with other dogs but should be in a cat-free home. He can be a bit hyper around kids, so an adult-only household is best. As Schnauzer, he has a unique thinner coat and has had past dietary issues, but he’s fine with a quality diet. He has a few missing teeth, so softer treats are ideal. Charlie is potty trained but needs a clean area and takes his time outside, requiring extra care. If you can offer him love and patience, he will reward you with cuddles and loyalty. Requirements for adopting Charlie: - A fenced yard. - Must take him for short walks. - No other dogs or cats preferred. - No children under 16. - Must be home most of the time. - No renters, please. - Must live in Florida, ideally within 60 miles of Sarasota-Bradenton. Adoption fee will be donated to shelter of your choice.

Story
The name's Greyson. I'm a 10.5-year-old Schnauzer mix, and yes — I am as dashing as I sound. I came to Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue after a very close call at a local shelter, and I have been embracing every single day with enthusiasm ever since. My hobbies include: running laps around the yard, announcing things that need announcing (sometimes a little loudly), counting my steps on walks, cruising in the car, and an extremely serious stuffie-tossing practice. I throw them up, I chase them down, I repeat. It's a whole thing. I’ve started to let my foster know I secretly love belly rubs too! I came in with a little extra to love, but I'm already working on my beach bod — down 5 lbs and counting! I'm friendly and playful, great with other dogs and people, crate trained, and totally fine with older kids who know their way around a dog. I have one request — please don't pick me up. I think it’s because I am a big boy right now and it’s uncomfortable. If you're looking for a spirited, loving senior with serious personality, I just might be your guy. NAME:  Willow BREED:  Schnauzer mix SEX:  female COLOR:  black/white AGE:  2 yrs as of Aug 2026 WEIGHT:  14.5 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Willow!  Willow is a 2-year-old, 14.5-pound girl who appears to be a Schnauzer mix, although as with so many rescue dogs, her family tree is anybody’s guess! What we already know is that Willow is a friendly girl who enjoys people and has plenty of personality packed into her scruffy little package. Willow loves to run and play and would enjoy a family that gives her opportunities to get out, stretch her legs, and have some fun. She also rides well in the car, so if your idea of a good day includes bringing your canine sidekick along for the adventure, Willow is happy to call shotgun.  She’s also a very smart girl, and luckily for her future family, she LOVES treats. That combination should make her a fun and eager student. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and the right snacks, we think Willow will catch on to new things pretty quickly. When it comes to other dogs, Willow is a little more particular. She can be selective about her canine friends and has a bit of a bossy streak, so she isn’t necessarily looking to join a home where every dog wants to be in charge. Any potential canine roommates will need to be a good personality match. Willow likes her people. She likes her fun. She REALLY likes her treats. And she reserves the right to choose her own friends.  Because Willow is still new to Canine Castaways, we’re continuing to learn about her. We haven’t discovered all of her favorite things, funny quirks, or exactly what her perfect forever home looks like just yet. What we do know is that she’s a fun, active, intelligent little girl who enjoys people, loves to run and play, travels like a champ, and has enough confidence to let you know what she thinks. If you’re looking for a scruffy little sidekick with brains, personality, and an adventurous streak, Willow might be your girl.     If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this dog... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Heartworm Tested - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Urinalysis - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on Flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $300 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this dog including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption. NAME:  Kasey BREED:  Schnauzer/Chihuahua SEX:    female  COLOR:  Black/tan AGE:   est at 6 yrs as of July 2026 WEIGHT:  9 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Kasey!  Kasey is an approximately 6-year-old Schnauzer/Chihuahua mix weighing just 9 pounds, with a gentle heart and an adorable coat that's as unique as she is. Her body is covered in a wiry coat, while her head is wonderfully soft, making her extra hard to resist when its time for a few gentle pets. When you first meet Kasey, you'll notice she's a little shy. Fast movements and sudden activity can make her nervous, so she appreciates kind voices, gentle hands, and people who let her settle in at her own pace. As she begins to realize she's safe, her sweet personality starts to shine through. Kasey gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company, making her a wonderful addition to a home with a calm canine companion. Since Kasey is still new to Canine Castaways, were continuing to learn more about her every day. Each day brings a little more confidence and another glimpse of the loving little dog she's becoming. Kasey also has a mammary mass that will be removed when she is spayed. Once that's behind her, shell be ready to enjoy the happy, healthy future she deserves. If you're the kind of person who understands that some dogs just need a little extra patience and reassurance, Kasey will reward you with something truly special: the quiet trust and unconditional love of a dog who finally knows she's home. NAME:  Cataleya BREED:  Terrier mix SEX:  Female COLOR:  black/brown/white AGE:  2 yrs as of June 2026 WEIGHT:  14 lbs Meet Cataleya!  Cataleya is a 2-year-old Terrier mix weighing 14 pounds, with a bright mind, an adventurous spirit, and a heart that's still learning that the world can be a safe place. This beautiful girl is incredibly smart. Give her a puzzle, a challenge, or a new adventure, and she's ready to put her brain to work. Cataleya loves learning, exploring, and figuring things out. She's the kind of dog who pays attention to everything and is always thinking one step ahead. While Cataleya can be shy with new people, her caution comes from uncertainty, not aggression. When she's nervous, she may let out a high-pitched squeal or even flash her front teeth as if to say, Please give me a minute! But she's never bitten anyone. She simply needs a little time and patience to realize you're a friend. Once Cataleya understands that you're not going to hurt her, she relaxes and begins to show her sweet and curious personality. Cataleya is happiest in a calm, predictable environment where she feels secure. She actually enjoys her crate and often sees it as her safe place. Unlike many dogs, she's not particularly interested in spending long periods outdoors and would much rather be inside with her people once she's had a chance to stretch her legs. She's also a bit of an athlete. In fact, Cataleya can climb a chain-link fence, so any future family will need to keep that impressive talent in mind when managing outdoor time. Cataleya gets along with other dogs, although she's more independent than social butterfly. She'll play occasionally, but she's generally more focused on doing her own thing than joining every canine party. What Cataleya needs most is a patient adopter who understands that trust is earned. Someone who will let her move at her own pace, celebrate her victories, and appreciate the incredible bond that develops when a shy dog learns she's finally home. The best things in life are'nt always immediate. Sometimes they're earned one small moment at a time. And Cataleya is absolutely worth the wait.
