NAME:  Willow BREED:  Schnauzer mix SEX:  female COLOR:  black/white AGE:  2 yrs as of Aug 2026 WEIGHT:  14.5 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Willow!  Willow is a 2-year-old, 14.5-pound girl who appears to be a Schnauzer mix, although as with so many rescue dogs, her family tree is anybody’s guess! What we already know is that Willow is a friendly girl who enjoys people and has plenty of personality packed into her scruffy little package. Willow loves to run and play and would enjoy a family that gives her opportunities to get out, stretch her legs, and have some fun. She also rides well in the car, so if your idea of a good day includes bringing your canine sidekick along for the adventure, Willow is happy to call shotgun.  She’s also a very smart girl, and luckily for her future family, she LOVES treats. That combination should make her a fun and eager student. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and the right snacks, we think Willow will catch on to new things pretty quickly. When it comes to other dogs, Willow is a little more particular. She can be selective about her canine friends and has a bit of a bossy streak, so she isn’t necessarily looking to join a home where every dog wants to be in charge. Any potential canine roommates will need to be a good personality match. Willow likes her people. She likes her fun. She REALLY likes her treats. And she reserves the right to choose her own friends.  Because Willow is still new to Canine Castaways, we’re continuing to learn about her. We haven’t discovered all of her favorite things, funny quirks, or exactly what her perfect forever home looks like just yet. What we do know is that she’s a fun, active, intelligent little girl who enjoys people, loves to run and play, travels like a champ, and has enough confidence to let you know what she thinks. If you’re looking for a scruffy little sidekick with brains, personality, and an adventurous streak, Willow might be your girl.     If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this dog... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Heartworm Tested - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Urinalysis - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on Flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $300 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this dog including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption. Her body is covered in a wiry coat, while her head is wonderfully soft, making her extra hard to resist when its time for a few gentle pets. When you first meet Kasey, you'll notice she's a little shy. Fast movements and sudden activity can make her nervous, so she appreciates kind voices, gentle hands, and people who let her settle in at her own pace. As she begins to realize she's safe, her sweet personality starts to shine through. Kasey gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company, making her a wonderful addition to a home with a calm canine companion. Since Kasey is still new to Canine Castaways, were continuing to learn more about her every day. Each day brings a little more confidence and another glimpse of the loving little dog she's becoming. Kasey also has a mammary mass that will be removed when she is spayed. Once that's behind her, shell be ready to enjoy the happy, healthy future she deserves. NAME:  Captain Sully BREED:  Schnauzer mix SEX:  male COLOR:  black AGE:  Est DOB 11/2022 WEIGHT:  23 lbs NOTES FROM FOSTER FAMILY: Meet Sully!  Sully is an almost 4-year-old Schnauzer mix weighing 24 pounds, and he's searching for the person willing to give him the chance he's been waiting for. Before moving into foster care, Sully spent far too long watching other dogs find homes while wondering when his turn would come. His foster family saw something special in him and decided to give him a chance. Within just a week, Sully began to blossom. The shy, uncertain dog they first brought home quickly learned he was safe. Today, Sully spends his days playing with his foster brothers and sisters, running around the yard, enjoying walks, carrying around his favorite soft toys, and keeping a close eye on the people he loves. He especially enjoys snacks, outdoor adventures, and spending time with his canine friends. Sully gets along very well with other dogs and would likely love a home with a playful canine companion. He seems happiest when he has dog friends to run and play with. While Sully enjoys being close to his people, he's not a dog who needs to be in your lap all day. Instead, he prefers to be nearby. You'll find him at the foot of the bed, beside you on the couch, or resting near your feet while you go about your day. Being close is his way of saying, I love you. Like many dogs who have experienced uncertainty, Sully can be cautious with new people and is sometimes more skeptical of men at first. He also has occasional moments where something seems to trigger old fears, causing him to become anxious or unsure. When that happens, Sully needs patience, understanding, and a little time to work through it. The good news is that once he feels safe, his true personality shines. And that personality is wonderful. Sully enjoys birthday parties, walks, yard time, toys, naps, and simply being part of the family. He sleeps happily on the bed with his foster humans but is also content relaxing in his crate. His foster family describes him as a pretty well-rounded pup who has made incredible progress since leaving the shelter. The ideal home for Sully would have a fenced yard, another friendly dog, no small children, and people who understand that trust is something earned, not rushed. Sully doesn't need someone to rescue him. He needs someone to believe in him. His foster family already does. Now he's hoping his forever family will too. Story
Hello! My name is Wanika- My brother and I were found trying to fend for ourselves. We were extremely scared! Once we came to Guardians, we started learning how nice people really can be. They have helped us become more social and confident. We now walk pretty good on leash and take treats gently. I don’t seem to mind other dogs, but a meet and greet with existing family pets is always best. I look to be a poodle mix- possibly with Labrador or Portuguese water dog?I am estimated at about 1yr old and weigh around 50lbs. I was born with one of my back legs slightly shorter than the other- so when I walk, it looks like I am limping a little. I went and saw the doctor and they said there wasn’t any damage, it’s just how my bones grew- but that it made me extra special because it made me unique? While I’m not crazy active, I would like a family where there are lots of walks and activities for us to do together. My $350 adoption fee includes vet exam, up to date vaccines, heartworm test (negative), spay, deworming and microchip. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete a free, noon-binding application at www.gofar.dog under Adopt. If you have questions, email my rescue at adoptions@gofar.dog. If you'd like to experience all the love I have, and want to make me part of your family, please complete the adoption application by pasting this link into your browser: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sm2546&method=online_form_html&formid=21

NAME:  Cataleya BREED:  Terrier mix SEX:  Female COLOR:  black/brown/white AGE:  2 yrs as of June 2026 WEIGHT:  14 lbs Meet Cataleya!  Cataleya is a 2-year-old Terrier mix weighing 14 pounds, with a bright mind, an adventurous spirit, and a heart that's still learning that the world can be a safe place. This beautiful girl is incredibly smart. Give her a puzzle, a challenge, or a new adventure, and she's ready to put her brain to work. Cataleya loves learning, exploring, and figuring things out. She's the kind of dog who pays attention to everything and is always thinking one step ahead. While Cataleya can be shy with new people, her caution comes from uncertainty, not aggression. When she's nervous, she may let out a high-pitched squeal or even flash her front teeth as if to say, Please give me a minute! But she's never bitten anyone. She simply needs a little time and patience to realize you're a friend. Once Cataleya understands that you're not going to hurt her, she relaxes and begins to show her sweet and curious personality. Cataleya is happiest in a calm, predictable environment where she feels secure. She actually enjoys her crate and often sees it as her safe place. Unlike many dogs, she's not particularly interested in spending long periods outdoors and would much rather be inside with her people once she's had a chance to stretch her legs. She's also a bit of an athlete. In fact, Cataleya can climb a chain-link fence, so any future family will need to keep that impressive talent in mind when managing outdoor time. Cataleya gets along with other dogs, although she's more independent than social butterfly. She'll play occasionally, but she's generally more focused on doing her own thing than joining every canine party. What Cataleya needs most is a patient adopter who understands that trust is earned. Someone who will let her move at her own pace, celebrate her victories, and appreciate the incredible bond that develops when a shy dog learns she's finally home. The best things in life are'nt always immediate. Sometimes they're earned one small moment at a time. And Cataleya is absolutely worth the wait.
