Meet 1 year old Toby ready to find his furever home! Toby is a handsome Schnauzer mix that caught a bad rap when he continually wanted to play with the senior family cat! Can’t blame a guy for trying! Fast forward to now, Toby is with SRC, utd on all vaccines, neutered, and chipped. He is housebroken and crate trained. He is all puppy and LOVES to play! He also LOVES his person! He would do best in a home with another active dog, fenced yard, and older children. He’s great with kids but loves to jump and play so older kids would be ideal. If you think Toby would be a great fit for your family, please complete the application below. Gets along with other dogs? Yes Gets along with cats? Yes Gets along with other pets? Story
Meet 8 year old Jingles, Your Sweet New Companion!! Jingles is a loving and gentle soul seeking a special home that can accommodate his needs as a diabetic pup. Diagnosed just this year, Jingles hadn’t been fed a proper diet and his weight became out of control. Now with no table food, prescription food, insulin injections twice daily he is doing phenomenal. His care is all about routine. He takes his daily injections like a champ and he’s down 10 lbs. since entering rescue. Jingles loves to run and play with is foster brothers and sisters so a home with back yard is a must as well as another pup. He will walk on a leash, but does require some training as he does pull. He is completely house broken, and crate trained. Even though this sweet boy is crate trained he does love to sleep in the bedroom with you on a doggie bed at night. He is up to date on all vaccines, prevention, chipped, a dental, and neutered. If you think you are the perfect family for Jingles, please fill out an application. Gets along with other dogs? Story
My name is Bella Sue. I am a 12 year old female Schnauzer who weighs 13 lbs. My owner was not able to take care of me since the passing of his wife and decided it best to surrender me to Schnauzer Rescue Cincinnati. The last couple weeks in my foster home in Cincinnati have been a fun whirlwind. I have five great dogs that are my new besties. My foster mom has had me in for a spa day, a dental and to the vet to make my vaccines current. I also have a microchip. The vet said that my health is great with the exception of some slight hearing loss. My old house did not have a fenced yard and here I do complete with two water fountains which is fun to splash in while it has been so hot. I have even started using the dog doors! She said we will have a physical fence yard in my forever home and I am so excited! My favorite place to be is right next to my person! I am a classic lap dog you might say. I still have some separation anxiety when they both leave the house but working on building my confidence up knowing they will return when I see the other dogs sleeping away with no worries. If you think I could be your next family member or want more information about me, please fill out an application and we will be in touch. Shirley is my Foster Mom. Gets along with other dogs? Story
Lottie! This beautiful 11 year old retired mill mom has finally hit the good life, and is now ready to find her furever home. Lottie entered rescue very shut down and fearful of everything. It is evident that the hands that held and fed her before, were not the friendliest. They also never helped her with the most basic vet care. Lottie spent her younger days staring out of a cage watching her pups be taken from her litter by litter. When she was no longer able to meet the breeders need, she was loaded up and dumped at a shelter. Lucky for this girl, SRC saw her and fell in love! Fast forward some months and ohhh what a character we have. Now fully vetted and with a much needed spay, hernia repair, and dental completed, she is loving life. Her favorite time of the day, meal time! Lottie also had cataracts in both eyes which severly impaired her vision. With the help of the Animal Eye Institute we were able to restore her vision. Lottie can now see without any issues and does have two eye drops that she will need for the remainder of her life. Lottie has done absolutely fabulous with her housebreaking. Lottie doesn’t understand how to tell you she needs to go out, but as long as she’s out every 5 hours or so, she will be without issues. She loves couch time, cushy blankets, treats, and her person. She does tend to claim her person in the home, so a family that is going to establish boundaries with her immediately or a single person would be best. She tends to stay very close... like on top of your feet. You have to be mindful of her. She would not be good for a person with a fall history. Lottie is crate trained but doesn’t require a crate as long as steps are blocked off. She would do best in a home with another dog. Lottie deserves the world and we’re going to see to it she gets it! If you think this perfect little girl would make a great addition to your family. Please fill out the application below. Fostered in Miamisburg, Ohio. Gets along with other dogs? Updated 8-3-2024 $400 adoption fee is for both pups! Meet the dynamic duo of Henry and Helen! These sweet pups are puppy mill survivors. They were found alone in an abandoned house, and we’d like them to stay together. Henry is approx. 7-8 years old, 12 lbs. schnauzer/terrier mix (maybe some Beagle?). He LOVES his person and constantly will follow you around the house. His favorite activities include snuggling, napping, and hanging outside. He is house trained, does OK on a leash, and rarely makes a noise. You may hear him whine a little bit if he doesn’t know where you are. While out of the house, he is either left out or in the office with the door closed. He is trusted and doesn’t use a crate. He can do stairs and jump off/on the bed and couch. Story
Hi! My name is Cole and I am a 10 year old, 19 lb. miniature schnauzer. I came to SRC through an owner surrender. I was kept in a wired crate for the past 5 years of my life and I was infested with fleas and had a terrible ear infection upon arrival. Thankfully, I was able to see a doctor right away and my immediate issues were cleared up within a week! My foster mom says that I have the sweetest, most playful demeanor. I LOVE my toys and my favorite time of the day is in the evenings when my foster family throws the toy for me. I love to retrieve and bring it back as many times as I’m able. Who says 10 year olds don’t have energy and love to play?! I can also balance my playfulness with casual snuggling, which I like to do as well. I’m a typical miniature schnauzer in that I love being with my people at all times. I have a lower back issue which makes me look derpy when I run around but my back doesn’t seem to bother me for the time being. It should be noted that I need to go to a home that either does not have children or has older children who understand that I should not be picked up unless necessary. And when I am picked up, it is done in a way that will be delicate with my back. Currently, I do not try to get on the couch with my foster family and I’m okay with laying in a nice, warm bed at their feet. Since I spent so much time in a crate, my back legs aren’t as strong as they should be. I am unable to do large sets of stairs, but have gotten better about doing the 3-4 steps to get on and off my back deck to go potty. I would prefer to go to a home that doesn’t have a lot steps. I enjoy going on walks but I don’t have a ton of energy and therefore, don’t need long walks. I do well on a leash. I am very good about pottying as soon as I am taken outside. I am House broken. What I love most is playing with toys. I don’t require a fenced yard so long as there is enough space inside to play with my toys so I can get exercise that way. Because of my weak back legs, carpet or rugs have been helpful in my play space to keep me from sliding on the hardwood floors. I’m a great eater and breakfast and dinner are my second favorite parts of the day outside of play time. I eat small kibble. Recently, I had my teeth cleaned and had a few of my back teeth pulled so right now I get to eat soft food which REALLY makes me excited. My foster mom told me not to get used to the soft (canned) food though because we’ll transition back to kibble soon. Because I spent so much time in a crate, I don’t love the crate right away but I do understand that I still need to be in the crate when my foster family is away from home. I go in the crate easily, especially with a treat! At night my foster mom told me I don’t have to be in the crate, so she blocked off a small space next to the bed where I have my own bed. I like this set-up and sleep well through the night. I’m up-to-date on my vaccines. I was recently neutered, and now I am ready to find my forever family that I can snuggle and play with! Please consider adopting me. I’m being fostered in Cincinnati. Gets along with other dogs? Yes Gets along with cats? Yes Gets along with other pets? Yes Suitable for kids?
