If you want the best boy who will be attached to your hip, who will give you the most love then stop looking you have found him. Ivar was born as a single puppy litter, he’s spoiled and he knows it. He is the most curious dog I have ever met. He loves to go on long walks and explore everything. Ivar does not do well with other male dogs I think when he is neutered that may change. He, like most schnauzers is a big talker. He will be the best gaurd dog letting you know if the wind is blowing or if the mailman is at your door. This boy needs someone who will absolutely treat him like a king. His best friend was a cat until sadly the cat passed, he did very well with the cat but sometimes could be overly excited. So I do think he could be around a cat with someone who understands his personality and excitement levels. He’s a lover, a goofus, a friend and would complete anyone. Odin is a fantastic, loving and charismatic boy who LOVES to talk. He will bark and howl with you while you sing, at the wind and at just about anything. If you know schnauzers you know what I mean. He’s got a lot of personality. He really needs someone who wants one dog that will love him like an only child.

My name is JAX  and I am  approximately 18 months old according to my vet.  I weigh approximately 17 to 18 pounds.  I am a  Mini Schnauzer  / Terrier mix with Natural Ears and a Natural Tail.  My color is  Black with wisps of White.  I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am heart-worm negative, been neutered, am housebroken, crate trained, and been evaluated for more than a month by my foster family who are located in Winston Salem, North Carolina.  Jax's  Story  JAX with this unique identification number: (SRC# 2199) came into SRC care  when his foster mom found him in a pitiful situation.  This situation broke our hearts and we know that you will be horrified by his early treatment! Fortunately she found this baby and he is being  prepared for adoption by his  foster family who have gone thru our approval process.   We at SRC just want  Jax  to have the loving home he deserves.  Here is information about the beginning of Jax's life before he came to SRC: As a tiny puppy Jax obviously had been given love and training yet something in the beginning of his life, his beloved human decided they no longer wanted him.  He was taken to a wooded area and dumped with nothing to assure he would live.  Jax is very intelligent and determined to live.  He probably believed that the human that had trained him and given him love would be back so he suffered through dangerously frigid cold with no food.  This amazing little boy found a deceased deer and cuddled up to it for warmth to survive, and most likely substance. Jax watched and waited, losing weight and developing skin issues due to the freezing weather and parasites he could not fight off as his health weakened day by day.  As hope was almost gone, an SRC volunteer saw him and recognized his plight.  Jax barked at her in hopes that she would help him because hope was almost gone.  He ran to her and she scooped up the pitiful little bundle who was thrilled for help!  Jax rode well, proved to be already housebroken and the most loving little dog anyone could ask for!  He was treated for the skin issues by the vet, and given the necessary vaccines.  When Jax was strong enough he was neutered.  He is such an intelligent and cuddly little boy that if she did not already have her limit of canine family, he would have become another family member.  Still she has given him excellent   care and prepared him for a loving family that will never abandon him.  Jax will make a fantastic family dog.  Being abandoned as a baby the way he was has not made Jax bitter in any way.  He is the perfect little boy!    When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm  tested (negative), de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date,  spayed/neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have  been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release of this dog is at the discretion of the SRC Core Team.    THIS DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN  WINSTON SALEM, NC  AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK THE DOG UP THERE WHEN HE/SHE IS ADOPTED. Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $ 450 PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior to the adoptive parents   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.  All our SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. These will not be done until contagion is not an issue. The revised documentation may be submitted via email and/or fax (1-910-401-1317). You may request an Adoption Application to email address:  adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org Upon receipt of your application, your medical records, and photos of your home (interior and exterior), the entire file will be processed and reviewed by the Core Team which may take up to seven days, depending on your location and the number of applications being processed at that time. Satisfactory files will also be reviewed by foster parent.  Someone from the Core Team along with the Foster Parent will be in touch with you to ask any questions that might be outstanding and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point an adoption may be discussed and arranged. Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame. SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals.  This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children. Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding the necessary donation and the adoption contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal.  This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs. This means the loving family can no longer provide the love and attention that these Mini brothers deserve. Because they love Bentley and Bowen so much, they have decided it  is best  to find them another loving adoptive home so SRC has agreed to assist by posting an Owner Placement.  Both Minis are approximately 6 years old and weigh approximately 19-20 pounds.  Bentley is a dark salt and pepper while Bowen is a light-colored salt and pepper.  These neutered males are very bonded with one another, and it is  important  that they be adopted together. Both dogs did go to a doggie day care some time ago and they got along well with other dogs according to the family.  They like staying at home together and are happy together so there will be no consideration of separating them.  There are personal items that will come with these canines, so please check with SRC prior to purchasing items for them. They should be adopted into a home that has no other dogs so that they will receive ample attention since they are used to being given a lot of love and attention. They have been kept on heartworm preventative and the last time they were tested they were both negative. According to the family, Bentley has had a dental cleaning and Bowen, when examined, did not require one.  The family says that the dogs have been healthy with no issues to date. They are being fed Hill's diet to keep them healthy and a small amount of this food will be made available to the adoptive parents when they adopt these Minis. SRC is posting them for the family so that they may be placed with another loving family who is knowledgeable about the Schnauzer breed.  All vetting for the first 6 months for the dogs when they are adopted will receive a tax letter from SRC (copies of receipts provided for the total will be necessary). The family states that both Bowen and Bentley are very friendly and love older children.  They do not care for cats and should be placed in a home that does not have cats or other dogs.  They have not been around other dogs so it is hard to say how they would relate to a dog that is already in the household.  Like a typical Schnauzer, both dogs will chase rabbits and squirrels. Bentley and Bowen have very little leash training, so a fenced yard will be necessary.  They are said to be housebroken yet they prefer being inside as much as possible rather than outside.  They are crate trained and enjoy sleeping in their crate together.  Both Minis love to cuddle and really enjoy petting. They really enjoy playing with their toys and will play fetch with them – returning them when they are thrown.
