Story
Bamboo is a 1 and a half year old, 10 pound Yorkie / Chihuahua mix with a sweet, sensitive soul. We rescued him from a small rural shelter in Texas, where he and another dog were found as strays, and terrified.. While Bamboo was initially shy upon arrival to Colorado, he seemed relieved to leave the shelter behind and quickly perked up in his foster home—especially with the comfort of another small dog to play with and learn from. Please read all of Bamboo's foster's notes, because there are some important things to note about him! From Bamboo's foster: * * * * "Bamboo is the sweetest guy, I just love him so much. He is really a good little dog, just with some sensitivities. He thrives in my home, so he just needs the right home to blossom!! He really, really loves other dogs. His tail wags every time he meets or sees a new doggy friend! He would LOVE a home with another dog and feels much more comfortable when he has a doggy friend. He loves to play and will thrive in a home with another playful dog. He fits right in with my 3 dogs. Bamboo does not like being put in his crate, but stays loose when left home alone and does totally fine. As long as he has another dog buddy, he relaxes and doesn't get into anything. So a home with another dog is a must for him. He also sleeps in bed with me and loves to snuggle deep under the covers, if you'll let him! He loves to bury himself in blankets and clothes, especially if they are fresh out of the dryer. He likes his snuffle mat and foraging and we feed him his meals in a snuffle mat. Bamboo is totally potty trained. Bamboo does good meeting new female people (maybe he's a tad shy at first but always friendly and warms up fast!) but he is pretty clear on his boundaries that he does NOT like men. I think some man did him really, really bad in his past. So Bamboo needs a female only home. Either a single female or a female-only couple. He gets very scared and anxious around men, and will bark at them, and sometimes gets so nervous that he piddles a little. Because of his fear of men, Bamboo needs a home (ideally with someone retired or work from home) that is okay not taking him to public outings - he won't do well in settings like breweries, or coming to work with you, because there are men to encounter out in those situations and that makes him anxious. But, he truly does so well at my home. He is happy, playful, and a normal, silly dog! " * * * * Bamboo is a sweet dog, in need of a calm, loving home. Bamboo is looking for a patient adopter who understands that he will take a little time to feel safe with new people. Bamboo needs a female-only, adult-only home. He is fearful of men, and would thrive in a home without one. His perfect match will be someone who works from home, has a calm and quiet household, and can offer him consistency, patience, and space to decompress. Bamboo is happiest in his own familiar environment with people he knows and trusts. Another small dog in the home is a must. Bamboo thrives with the companionship of another friendly dog. He gains confidence from their presence, enjoys playing with them, and relaxes more easily when he has a canine buddy nearby. Once Bamboo feels safe, his funny, loving personality starts to shine and he is a sweet, silly little boy! He’ll need continued training—something we require for all Farfel’s adoptions—with an adopter who is committed to helping him build confidence through structure, patience, and gentle positive reinforcement. Bamboo is a lovable little guy full of potential. He just needs the right person to help him feel safe and understood. If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in giving a misunderstood underdog the chance to blossom, Bamboo might be your perfect match. Bamboo is up to date on his vetting, vaccines, and neutered. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and sweet as can be dog who is learning about love and acceptance in his life. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Bamboo, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
