Story
****PLEASE NOTE; Maisy and Millie are a BONDED PAIR. They are bonded to each other and must be adopted together.**** Meet Maisy & Millie! Maisy and Millie are a bonded pair of sweet, 4-year-old girls believed to be Maltipoos (Maltese/Poodle mixes). While we don’t DNA test our rescue dogs, this is an educated guess based on their appearance and size. Maisy is 8 lbs and Millie is 9 lbs. These two girls were found living on the streets of Houston before ending up in a large, overcrowded, and very scary shelter. When they arrived, both were covered in painful mats, had overgrown nails, and were understandably unsure and frightened by the shelter environment. Once rescued, their painful mats were carefully shaved away so they could finally feel comfortable and start to relax, and they’ve been feeling so much better ever since. Maisy is the more outgoing of the two. Millie is much more timid, though thankfully not nippy or bitey in the slightest. Just scared, but we know that she will learn soon that she is safe finally. Millie finds her comfort and courage by staying close to her sister, Maisy. Because of this deep bond, Maisy and Millie must be adopted together. Both girls are friendly, gentle souls who simply need time and patience to feel safe. They are so so sweet, just so unsure with everything going on right now. We are currently working on getting them out of the shelter and into a foster home where they can finally decompress and begin to relax. Once they feel safe, we’re confident their sweet personalities will continue to shine. Why adopting two can actually be easier than one: Bonded pairs like Maisy and Millie help regulate each other’s emotions. They provide comfort, confidence, and familiarity during transitions, which can actually make the adjustment into a new home smoother. They’re never truly alone, learn routines together, and often experience less anxiety because they have their built-in best friend by their side. Maisy and Millie will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for hair care and longevity) to keep their coats cottony-soft, matte-free and shining with good health. We would love to see Maisy and Millie in a home with a individual, couple, or active retirees who have the time and heart for a loyal and loving companion. We'd hate to see them left alone all day while their family works full-time outside of the home. A family that works from a home-based office is a great choice for these sweet dogs. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Maisy and MIllie in a home where they'll get consistent mental stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement / force free training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for these young dogs, whose self-esteems will fly high while they master their skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for all dogs that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. Maisy and Millie are both up to date on their vetting and vaccines, and are both spayed and healthy. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for Maisy and Millie. If interested in this gorgeous pair, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet dog that is in need our help. Georgia was one of these dogs that was in dire need due to lack of space in a shelter and therefore facing euthanasia. This gorgeous girl deserves so much better. She deserves a wonderful home that is filled with tons of love and nurturing. Georgia's excellent temperament is a gift that she'll bring to a dog-crazy family that is searching for that loyal best friend who will always be by their side. Georgia is a 6 - 7 year old, 11 lb, Shih Tzu / Yorkshire Terrier mix. Farfel's can't swear to these breeds as no DNA test was done. Her mix was the opinion of shelter veterinarians and we'll go with their opinion. Georgia was saved from euthanasia due to her excellent temperament, love of life and very sweet demeanor with both humans and other dogs. She is untested with cats. We received the following report from Georgia's foster: * * ** * "Georgia is a gentle girl with a heart as soft as her fluffy coat. This sweet little lady is the definition of friendly. She adores people and soaks up affection like sunshine. Whether you’re offering belly rubs, soft pets, or simply sitting nearby, Georgia is happiest when she’s close to the ones she loves. Georgia enjoys a calm, cozy environment and would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate best friend. She’s the perfect mix of relaxed and playful, always ready for attention but just as content to curl up beside you on the couch for an afternoon nap or a late night movie. If a loving and very devoted pup is the answer to brighten your winter days, Georgia might be the perfect match. She’s ready to shower her forever family with warmth, sweetness, and plenty of tail wags. This little cutie is so much fun to be around. She's goofy and loving and so very sweet! She was so happy go lucky this morning and when we went outside, she walked well and was so excited to be outdoors. She is great on leash and I do believe she is house trained. She only had one accident on her very first night here. Otherwise she knows to go outside and lets us know when she needs to go out. She definitely had a home before. I just love this little girl!" * * * * We'd like to place Georgia in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Georgia has been fully vetted and is up to date on her vaccinations. This support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to reinforce our commitment to a euthanasia-free future in the canine population. Georgia has a mild, grade-3 heart murmur (on a scale out of 6). Our vet isn’t concerned, and dogs live long, happy, totally normal lives with murmurs just like this. It doesn’t slow her down one bit — she enjoys her walks, snuggles, and daily routine just like any other pup. We’re happy to answer questions, but truly, this is not expected to impact her quality of life or her ability to be the loving companion she already is. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Georgia please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com.
