Story
Chester Woodrow - 95% Yorkshire Terrier • Trained • Devoted companion seeking the right match Chester Woodrow is a 9-year-old, neutered male, Yorkie mix (Wisdom Panel DNA: ~95% Yorkshire Terrier). He is house trained, crate trained, has excellent recall, and sits on command. He understands structure and enjoys working with his people. At about 14.5 pounds, Chester is small, but athletic and agile. He is affectionate, people-oriented, and bonds deeply once he feels secure. He is non-shedding, easy to maintain, and does very well for grooming and veterinary care. Chester is exceptionally smart, perceptive, and responsive to routines. He relaxes when his environment is predictable and calm. Background and Training: Chester came to rescue with separation-anxiety–related coping behaviors. Since returning to foster care, he has worked consistently with a professional trainer and made excellent progress. He has been successfully weaned off anxiety medication, and structured routines, especially crate training, has significantly improved his confidence and regulation. He now primarily shows calm, trained behavior. Like many sensitive dogs, he can become reactive if he feels insecure or overwhelmed, particularly if he perceives a need to protect his person or space. With proper introductions, predictable structure, and continued guidance, he is manageable and highly predictable. Social compatibility: Chester has lived successfully with other small dogs in foster care and is currently doing well with two small Yorkies. He has also thrived as the only dog. He does best with calm, predictable companions and may struggle with highly energetic or chaotic dogs that rush people. Ongoing support: Chester has an established training plan and relationship with a professional trainer who knows him well. Adopters should be willing to continue this support during transition and as needed to maintain his progress. Ideal home: Chester will do best in a calm, structured adult home with predictable routines. He may be happiest as the only dog or with one small, well-matched dog. He is not suited to chaotic environments or homes seeking a low-maintenance dog. Care Details: Crate trained and house trained Excellent recall Dog-selective (prefers calm companions) Non-shedding coat Excellent for grooming and veterinary handling Neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines Wisdom Panel DNA profile available Chester Woodrow is a bright, loyal dog who has shown how well he can do with the right support. In a stable home, he is affectionate, responsive, and deeply bonded to his person. He is looking for adopters who value structure and the rewarding bond that comes from helping a sensitive dog feel safe and confident.
