Story
Nessa (b. 1/2020) is a Maltipoo with a very sad past... While driving on a cold afternoon in December, a good samaritan caught a glimpse of this 11 lb pup laying in a ditch. They immediately stopped and scooped up this little gal who was alive but paralyzed from a broken back. After having no luck finding her family, an MP volunteer was contacted and Nessa was quickly brought to rescue. Numerous clinics and specialists were consulted and it has been determined that Nessa is not a candidate for surgery. Nessa is a master scooter and a total diva.  Nessa needs a home that understands her needs and will allow her to live out her diva life.  There are a number of potential complications that Nessa may experience, which means her future is uncertain. Therefore, this sweetheart is looking for a foster to adopt or furever foster who can stomach the hard truths that come with a pet in Nessa's condition. Nessa will need a situation that allows for her best human friend to be home more often than not, and will need to be kenneled when left alone to make sure she stays safe. She requires a diaper and regular maintenance throughout the day to keep her clean and feeling comfy! Muddy Paws will continue to monitor Nessa's health and will provide on-going financial support for her future. Nessa loves to be carried around the house by her foster and she's got a good eye for making sure everything is in its place! Nessa is a sweet pup who loves to give kisses and is the best little couch cuddler you could ask for. For now, Nessa is nestled up comfortable, safe, warm, and living her best life! If you are curious about Nessa and her requirements, reach out to Muddy Paws for more information. Due to her medical needs, Nessa needs an adopter / foster that lives within a 50 mile radius.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page  ##1289605##

Story
T8R (pronounced Tater) is a hypoallergenic 6 year-old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier) mix rescued from a local shelter euthanasia list. Due to past abuse T8 (Tate) is terrified of new people, but once T8 gets to know you, he's a sweetie pie who gives kisses and lets you pick him up. Due to his high anxiety, this boy is looking for a quiet and calm forever home with a loving and patient owner.  One that will work thru his issues and not give up on him, as the process of learning to trust might be a long one.  Ideally T8R's new owner would be a female, since T8 was abused by a man. Please NO children or large dogs. Loud voices, loud laughing, screaming, and all other loud noises can trigger T8 to get snappy out of fear, even towards those he loves. Large dogs cause him to go ballistic with nonstop barking and lunging, and it is very difficult to redirect this behavior. T8R gets along with small dogs his size that are friendly, but he can become protective of his food, treats, and toys out of fear they will be taken away, so he would prefer to be an only dog with a possibility of small dog play dates. T8R is not destructive when left home alone and is mostly housetrained, but occasionally might have an accident.  Although T8 is still a bit fearful of the leash, he has made some progress with his foster mom. Regular grooming will likely need to take place under sedation. Chasing balls is something he really enjoys! Bringing them back...not so much. If you want a snuggly dog that sits in your lap, T8R is NOT your guy, as he prefers to sleep on the floor next to you.  To help T8 through his fears, the adopter will need to agree to meet with a trainer prior to adoption. This will probably take several visits, so the adopter needs to be willing to go slow and work at T8's pace. Adoptions for T8R are limited to within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, so he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for T8R is $300.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter to take the pet to be altered at NHS free of charge. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or adopter will be in breach of contract. Adopter is required to provide proof of alter to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately after procedure complete. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Stormy is a young Porkie (Pomeranian/Yorkie mix) and she is looking for a new place to call home (born 2022). She is potty trained and crate trained. Stormy is friendly with other dogs and kids of all ages. She is spunky and enjoys being active! She needs a fenced yard that is secure because she can sneak out of small spaces. (She might need to stay on a leash outside.) The perfect home for Stormy would be in a loving home with people that have plenty of time to spend with her. The suggested adoption donation for Stormy is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTIONAPPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you intouch with the animal's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take placein the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not shipor deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.
