Story
Otto is a very sweet little Morkie. Unfortunately with our growing family…baby #2 on the way we need to find a new home. Due to both of us working full time and our kids it does not leave a lot of time left for Otto. He is well trained and great with kids and other dogs. He deserves more love and attention than we can give him right now. Not trying to make a profit just want a good home for him. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Story
This little ball of fluff is looking for a loving family that would like to have a loyal companion in the home.  Layla is a senior Maltese (possibly born in 2017, maybe a little older).  She is crate and leash trained and knows some commands.  She LOVES to go for walks!  She likes to have another dog companion in the house, but she would also do well as the only dog.  Layla plays well with a 2 year old Aussie/Border Collie - it just took a little time for Layla to warm up. Layla is friendly with other dogs, strangers and children.  Because of her size, she would probably be better with older kids (age 6+). The perfect home would have a fenced yard so she can explore.   Layla is usually calm and enjoys being a lap dog and giving kisses.   She will be found close by her humans whenever possible, following them wherever they go! The suggested adoption donation for Layla is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital or Omaha Animal Medical Group in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.   ##2588508##

Story
Welcome to rescue, Bon Bon! This tiny Maltese (born July 2025) was in intensive care for 7 days and he made it through!!!  Bon Bon is definitely a fighter and has a lot of life to live.  He's getting LOTS of TLC and snuggles at his foster home.  He would love to have another pet in the home.  The resident dog at his foster home is a small poodle and he enjoys her company.  Bon Bon loves to play and has started to show he has a big personality for being such a little guy.  At bedtime, he has slept with his foster mom and also in a small gated area with the other dog.  He just needs a pal (human or otherwise) to feel safe. Bon Bon is a parvo survivor and has adjusted well to life at his foster home.  Once he is released from vet care, he will be ready for his next chapter!  We'll share updates and more information about Bon Bon as we learn more about him! Please Note:  Bon Bon came to rescue Parvo+ and won’t be able to go to his furever home until released from the vet as he will be “shedding” parvo until then.  We encourage you to apply to adopt so we can start the process now! The suggested adoption donation for Bon Bon is $750, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
T8R, affectionately known as Tater, is a charming Morkie (Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier born Sept 2018) with a heartwarming tale of rescue from the brink of shelter euthanasia. Despite enduring past mistreatment, T8R, fondly called Tate, exudes sweetness once he builds a bond with you, showering you with kisses and embracing moments of being picked up. To ensure his well-being, this endearing boy seeks a tranquil and nurturing forever home where his anxieties can be understood and embraced with unwavering patience and love. While the journey of building trust with T8R may require time, his new companion will play a pivotal role in supporting him every step of the way. Ideal for T8R is a female owner, given his history of abuse from men. Environments devoid of children and large dogs are paramount, as loud noises trigger fear responses, and interactions with bigger canines can be challenging. T8R thrives in the company of friendly small dogs, but may exhibit protectiveness over items due to past insecurities. He may prefer being the sole dog in the household, with occasional small dog playdates for socialization. While he shows maturity in staying alone at home and is mostly housetrained, occasional accidents may occur. T8R is still acclimating to leash walking, but has shown progress under the guidance of his foster mom. Regular grooming may necessitate sedation, a process he handles well. Engaging in ball chasing brings T8R immense joy, even if returning the ball isn't his forte. While he may not be the typical lap dog, T8R's preference for sleeping next to you on the floor highlights his loyal nature.  To aid T8R in overcoming his fears, prospective adopters must commit to meeting a trainer before finalizing the adoption, ensuring a gradual and supportive transition tailored to T8R's pace. Adoptions for T8R are limited to a 50-mile radius of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area to facilitate ongoing access to the valuable training provided by our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for T8R is $300.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter to take the pet to be altered at NHS free of charge. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or adopter will be in breach of contract. Adopter is required to provide proof of alter to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately after procedure complete. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.
