Story
Cavander is a sweet and handsome Mountain Cur whose estimated DOB is 8/1/2019 and on 5/16/2025 he weighed in at 84 pounds. He's a little shy with strangers but it takes him almost no time to warm up. He acts a little goofy at his kennel, but if you get meet him out in the dog park, you'll find that he's the perfect blend of playful and chill. This smart boy know a few commands like focus, touch, sit, and down! Cavander is a big boy, but he's all heart, so come meet him today and give him the loving home for which he has waited far too long! Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

Story
Sarah was the most severely emotionally damaged dog we pulled out of the felony animal cruelty case in Jacksonville, AR on April 12, 2025. She was absolutely in fight or flight mode. She does have a human bite history from when an animal control officer surprised her by coming up behind her and grabbing her hips to try and lift her into the vehicle. She was focused on me who had her leash and was not expecting them to touch her. After a mandatory bite quarantine we had a professional behavioral assessment done. They expressed her reactions are all fear based. She is not aggressive but she does have certain triggers that make her absolutely terrified. Once a solid bond of trust is established, like I have made with her, she can be worked with. She is highly food motivated (which makes sense after being starved to near death in a tiny bedroom with 20 other dogs) and that can be used to form the bond. She is very soft and accepts pets once she trusts you. She is potty pad trained! We’re working on walking on a leash. Something about having a collar put over her head terrifies her and we’re still working on that. I’ve been able to bathe her and pick her up and crate her and get her to the vet. She has had all her shots and been spayed and microchipped. Any interested adopter will need to be willing to go slow and put in the work and agree to not put her into a situation that she’s likely to fail. I’ve worked too hard on her to go backwards from someone else not being careful. She’s a special dog to me and has boatloads of potential.
