He is independent enough to be comfortable on his own, but also enjoys having canine companions. Cedar has an excellent training foundation. He completed a premium 5-week professional board-and-train program and is fully crate trained. He knows Sit, Down, Up, Leave It, Wait, Paw, and Roll, and has reliable recall at shorter distances. Watching him run and play is one of his greatest joys. In most public settings, Cedar is friendly and does very well around both people and other dogs. Like many dogs, he has a few specific triggers that require thoughtful management. On occasion, he may react to things such as loose or baggy clothing, bicycles passing by, or items like bags or blankets being carried. Because of this, he will do best with an owner who is attentive, understands canine body language, and is comfortable proactively managing his environment. MEET MILO — A SURVIVOR READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME It’s hard to imagine everything Milo has been through and even harder to understand how, after all of it, he is still such a gentle and loving soul. Milo is estimated to be around 6 years old and weighs about 45 lbs. He was rescued from the streets of Tijuana in heartbreaking condition. He was severely emaciated, nothing but skin and bones, and suffering from terrible mange. His body told the story of a dog who had been struggling for far too long. But Milo never gave up. ❤️ After several weeks of treatment, Milo has now been medically cleared to leave the kennel and continue his recovery in a home. He still needs to gain weight and regrow his beautiful coat, but we already know there is a handsome boy waiting to emerge. More importantly, his personality has already begun to shine. Despite everything he has endured, Milo is incredibly sweet, gentle, and good with other dogs. Even while living in a small kennel, he does everything he can to keep his space clean, waiting until he is taken outside to go potty. We believe this sweet boy understands what it means to keep his living space clean and may transition wonderfully into home life. Milo does have entropion, a condition affecting his eyelids, and we are hoping to get him into surgery as soon as next week so he can finally be comfortable. What Milo needs now is something medicine alone cannot give him: a home. A soft bed. A person to love. A place where he can finally understand that he is safe and that he will never have to fight to survive again. We would love to find someone willing to look beyond what Milo looks like today and see the dog he is becoming. Meet Cedar, a sweet, energetic, independent, and curious 4yo Mountain Cur mix. He loves the outdoors but settles beautifully indoors. A yard and/or frequent walks or dog parks are ideal for his activity level.He is fully crate-trained & a grad of a premium 5-week board-&-train. Cedar is generally fantastic in public and does great around people and other dogs! However, he is currently working on impulse behaviors. Happy to speak more to this.Cedar needs an attentive, vigilant owner who understands dog behavior to proactively manage him around guests and in public. He thrives on a steady routine, structure, clear boundaries, and love.He’s a brilliant student and LOVES to work! Ambar of courses was named because of her beautiful ambar color coat. She is nice med-large size adult dog who adores humans, children included. She is more of a house dog who enjoys walks and a easier lifestyle. She is playful and currently fostered in a home with a little patio where she gets to see people and dogs go by and is entertained by running around back and forth checking them out. She enjoys walks around the neighborhood and is currently fostered with her foster friend named 'Pip' who was rescued about the same time as she was. These 2 are great friends and a great pair if someone is looking for 2 house dogs they can take for walks. They are not bonded so of course each can be adopted independently. Their foster mom has 2 other smaller breed senior dogs and a senior large breed pit bull whom Ambar respects and cohabitates however, she is more of a people dog and not really interested in making dog friends. We don't believe she will be a great dog park dog, so if you are not into dog beach, dog park, doggy day care but are mostly interested in a nice size adult dog who would be a great companion to have at home and go on normal walks with the occasional fun outing like hikes, etc then Ambar would be a great match. She is not dog aggressive but she is not interested in making friends, if a dog is being walked by her she will ignore it unless the dog goes to greet her nose to nose she may tell the dog 'no thank you'. She is fine with the dogs she knows at home. Best matched for someone who doesn't have dogs at home already or are interested in adopting Pip to be her friend (the adoption fee of the second dog friend would be happily waived)  Ambar is beautiful and a real underdog who ADORES humans and would be an excellent companion brining lots and laughter and a great house/family dog.  We have not cat tested Ambar and happy to do so if potential adopters request a cat test.  She does well in car rides and is house and crate trained. She enjoys spending time in the yard and while she is not sun bathing she enjoy playing with her friend pip. Indio was around the shelter for two years, neglected by his former owners, we decided to give him a space in the shelter when he started playing among the cars on the road. In the midst of danger we were able to get him to safety, and he currently has his full vaccination schedule, microchipped and neutered, ready for his new home. He is a very faithful, intelligent, calm and very sociable dog. He was raised with other dogs and cats, so he makes him a good companion for any family, he likes to go for a walk on a leash, cuddles, receive prizes and learns very quickly. Marvin is a sweet and noble dog, 1.5 years old and 30 pounds. He was hanging around the shelter for a couple of weeks, he was given food, water and some love, but we decided to take him in when he arrived really injured and covered in blood, we think he was attacked by dogs. Fortunately in his medical checkup he didn't come out with many problems, and he is now healthy and ready for his new home! He knows how to coexist with other dogs, although he has his temper, he is usually very tolerant with effusive puppies. He likes to sleep in his giant bed, is crate-trained, house-trained and is sociable and friendly with new people. He knows how to ride in a car, and smiles when you scold him, he is adorable! We don't know exactly what breed he is, google lens finds a resemblance to an English Pointer and Andalusian ratter. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA.
