Story
I am a little over a year old and I have called the humane society home since July of 2025. I am skittish and a little tempermental when I don't know you. I love playing with all the other pups but I am not so great with young children. I love being ouside when the weather is nice, or even when it's not. I love the sun and the snow, just not the rain. While I may be shy at first, I'm the most playful pup. I'm always ready to have some fun and will even play with a snack or a walnut! If you like a spontaneous and fun pup, I'm the one for you! My DNA test says I am a mixture of 12 different breeds including Australian Cattle Dog, Beagle and Lab!! ##2472051##

Story
Meet Dottie, a beautiful 4-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix looking for a fresh start with the right family. This smart, loyal girl was recently returned to our care after no longer being the best fit for her previous home. Dottie is a devoted companion who bonds closely with her people and thrives when she has structure, activity, and clear expectations. Dottie is house trained, walks well on a leash, knows basic obedience commands, and has even previously participated in agility and skills work, which she truly enjoyed. She is an intelligent, active dog who would love a home that will continue to engage both her mind and body. She loves being with her people and is happiest when included in daily life. Dottie can get along with some other dogs, but she will require a meet and greet with any potential canine companions. She also does best being fed separately from other animals. We do want to be transparent that Dottie was involved in an incident with a child at her previous home. The family lived on a busy corner and utilized an invisible fence system. A child unknowingly entered the yard, and Dottie reacted protectively toward her home and family. While we do not take the situation lightly, Dottie has not shown concerning aggression during her time in our care. We believe this incident highlights the importance of respecting boundaries and always asking permission before approaching unfamiliar dogs or entering private property. Because of this history, Dottie will only be placed in a home with children over the age of 10, or an adult-only home. She will also need a securely contained yard and owners who understand breed tendencies and are committed to responsible management. Dottie is a loving, capable dog with so much to offer the right home. With experienced owners who can provide guidance, consistency, and companionship, we know she has the potential to thrive once again.

Story
Rudy is a 3-year-old pointer/cattle dog mix with a heart as big as his ears. This handsome boy was found as a stray in Huntingburg in very rough shape, but after spending a lot of time with us getting the care and love he needed, he is finally ready to make his debut and start looking for a family of his own. Rudy is finally at a healthy weight, so he is finally ready to bust out of his kennel and into his new home! Rudy is your typical herding dog, so he would benefit most from someone who has experience with the breed. He will need someone who can provide him with enough enrichment to keep his mind and body to help him live a fulfilling life!
