Mountain Cur

Male, young
Des Moines, IA
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Meet Henry! He's a curious dog who loves to explore and get belly rubs. He's as sweet as can be with humans, but tends to get pushy with other dogs if they let him. He does play nicely with several dogs at the rescue with no issues, so he needs to meet any potential playmates. He needs boundaries and training like any other dog, he's intelligent and eager to please his humans. He's house trained and adores his human. Henry is about 18 months old and weighs 55 pounds. He'd love to be part of an active home that's looking for a companion for hikes or adventures!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 27, 2023, 10:58 am

Plott Hound Boxer

Female, adult
Clive, IA
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Good with dogs,
Let it go, let it gooooooo ...Can't hold it back anymore ... Yes, my name is Elsa, just like that Elsa! I came into this world in February, right in the middle of a chilly San Antonio winter when the temps were plummeting, and life was tough for many. But fate smiled upon me, and a kind-hearted man and his family came to my rescue, sparing me from the freezing cold. I'll be honest; I'm a sensitive soul. Loud voices and sudden noises tend to rattle me, but let me tell you, once I've warmed up to you, I'm a different dog entirely. I'll shower you with kisses and share my whole heart. You see, I'm not just pretty on the outside; I'm smart and gentle, too. What I need most is a patient family willing to give me the time and space to settle into my new home. Trust me; I have so much love to give. In my foster home, they've discovered a side of me that shines when I play with their Big Great Pyrenees. We're like a couple of kids, playing hide and seek, and chasing each other around. I'm also a sunbather at heart, so outdoor lounging in the sun is a favorite pastime of mine. Now, here's the thing: I'm not a fan of long car rides, and I can get a little nervous. But if you speak to me gently and reassure me, I'll find my courage. Leash walks can be a bit tricky too, but with your patience and encouragement, I'm willing to give it a try. In the evenings, I like to cozy up in bed with my humans, though I don't demand it. I just love to be near the ones who care for me. I'm on the lookout for a forever home, a place where I'll be cherished and appreciated just as much as I have been in my foster family. If you're seeking a loyal companion who's ready to bloom with your love, look no further - I'm right here. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Good with dogs,
Home, home on the range-r! Ok, that is not how the song goes, but I still think the song is about me! I am Ranger and I am in need of a home! Get it? I am a cool, Plott Hound mix, and a large (about 70#) boy looking for my forever family! Plott hounds are smart and active dogs, even though I am now an adult dog, I still take after my breed and love to have athletic challenges and play time. I know I will be someone's ride or die!!! If you have longed for a big, stunning dog then I am your guy! I will make some active individual, couple or full blown family one GREAT addition! But don't wait long... I will be adopted very very quickly! ***Ranger is very large, strong and energetic. MUST have a house and fenced yard and active family as well as strong leadership. No apartments or townhouses.*** Ranger has the loving heart of a warrior and would love to be your running partner or biking or camping or hiking or traveling or just wandering around- he is IDEAL for your active lifestyle!
