Story
Oakley, affectionately known as 'Dottie girl ' by her foster family, has such a sweet, lovable, big personality and is very eager to please!  This Pit/Mountain Curr mix is a total Phoenix that has risen from the fires of neglect, abandonment and even successfully raised her litter of puppies in the woods for the first 10 weeks of life. They were all successfully adopted in the Fall and living wonderful lives of love and commitment from their families.  Oakley is the perfect girl that lives with anyone and everyone that comes her way.  She embraces all people and dogs and she just lives her life with resilience and tolerance.  This girl might not be a Golden Retriever in looks but she surpasses any of the commonly accepted breeds that everyone gravitates to and wants to adopt.  Take her Pit mix package look away and please consider only her SOUL?  Trust us, you will not want to look elsewhere for the most perfect and beautiful temperamented dog.  Oakley sits on command and walks nicely on a leash.  When she meets new people, she is so very social and she embraces all other dogs, adults and children alike.  This girl loves to play dress up in cozy sweaters and loves a good chew toy. HOW FUN!???? RIGHT?  If you have children she is right there to engage and play with them and their fantasies.  This Momma dog is just a young 2yr old, 40lb sweetheart who longs to be an inside dog that can cuddle up next to you on the couch and help you melt the life challenges away.   Oakley had outsmarted many rescuers for months running around the county with her litter of puppies being. When she gave in we realized what a remarkable Mom she was and the beauty of her puppies.  All of her puppies have been adopted, but now Oakley is raising her heart and hand to say…. Pick Me Too!  She deserves a remarkable future and life because she will provide the amazing dog companion to someone that can ever be imagined.  Forget the wrapper on the package and consider the heart please…You won’t regret living a life with Oakley. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lucille is a wonderful medium-sized pup with the best of both worlds: she’s past the toughest puppy stages and ready to settle into her forever routine, but she still has that playful spark that keeps life fun. Eager to please and quick to learn, Lucille thrives with gentle guidance and loves being part of the action. (Fair warning — socks are still fair game!) She’s an active girl who would love a home that enjoys getting outside. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a long walk, or romping around with bigger dogs, Lucille is always up for it. Naturally submissive and easygoing, she avoids conflict and bounces right back into play with a goofy roll and a wagging tail. When the fun is over, Lucille is all about the cozy moments. Her little snores at nap time are guaranteed to melt your heart, and she’s happiest curled up after a day well spent. With her soulful doe eyes and affectionate nature, she’s looking to you for leadership, love, and reassurance as she continues to grow into an amazing companion. Lucille will do best in a home with older children. If you’re searching for an easygoing, playful girl who will happily shower you with kisses after a day at the park, Lucille just might be your perfect match.    Crate-trained House-trained Good with big dogs/boys Good with cats  Sleeps in crate Eats in crate&#226&#128&#139 &#226&#128&#139 Medical Notes: Spayed  Vaccinated Dewormed Microchipped Maintained on monthly preventions  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2026, 12:07 pm

Story
Oscar is a sweet and gentle boy, who is a bit shy at first but once he gets to know his people he sure does know how to have fun! Oscar and his brother Rocky have been with us for a while because they are shy with new people so they don't 'show well' when people first meet them. Oscar and Rocky get to visit the home of one of the Ark volunteers occasionally and they have a blast playing their hearts out so we know 100% for sure he’s a great boy who will let his playful & happy self out with a family!! Oscar really does love people so we know he'll make a great companion for someone willing to give him a little time to adjust and settle in to a new home. *The Adoption fee for Oscar is reduced/covered by adoption sponsorship donations Oscar says: When I arrived at the Ark, we played the 'guess what breed I am' game, and the most guesses were that I'm a Cur mix, but I know that's just a guess - I know what I am, I'm a Purebred Mix-Breed!! And if you don't know what a Cur is - you sure have been missing out, good thing you found me because we're awesome dogs!! Check this out (from Google): Are cur dogs good family pets? Cur: Dog Breed Characteristics & Care Their energy, intelligence, and tenacity make them loyal workers and companions, while their desire to bond with humans makes them great family dogs. **Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs. September 7, 2024, 10:05 am
