Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Meet Bruno, the adventurous 1-year-old, 29-pound Mountain Cur with a zest for life! Bruno's energy level is a solid 7 – he's a playful pup on a mission to explore every nook and cranny. A handsome boy, whose good looks are punctuated with a docked tail. Bruno is smart and loves playing fetch! Not much of a barker, he prefers wagging his tail to say hello to strangers, dogs, and even cats! This sweet, friendly boy assumes that everyone wants to be his friend. He hasn't been around kids, but we think he would be fine with them. Bruno's foster family loves his love for toys, especially the art of chewing and dismantling the stuffed ones. This social butterfly enjoys the company of other dogs, car rides, and is on the road to becoming a seasoned hiker. Bruno's foster assures us he's quickly learning housetraining and has started crate training & leash training. He may not know commands yet, but he's a quick learner ready for some basic obedience training. In the right home, Bruno promises to be your loyal hiking buddy and cuddle enthusiast. He's been introduced to belly rubs and is a fan! Ideal for someone experienced with hunting dogs or breeds that love a mental and physical challenge – ready to unlock Bruno's full potential. If you're ready for a lifetime of belly rubs and adventures, Bruno is your guy!    Interested in adopting? Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Sponsored Adoption Donation $100 if picked up in TN, $175 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Meet Rocky, the goofball extraordinaire! This gorgeous brindle, 11-month-old Mountain Cur/German Shepherd Dog mix is a bundle of energetic joy just waiting to brighten your days. Weighing in at 60 pounds, Rocky's got the size to match his big heart. While he's a pro at sitting (because treats are involved, of course), he's still learning other commands in the training department. He's very enthusiastic when it comes to toys and has learned to fetch! Rocky's favorite hobby? Spreading happiness! He adores people and can't resist a good belly rub. Plus, that sweet face is scientifically proven to melt hearts! Rocky is working on his housebreaking skills (even in boarding) and is sure to master it quickly in a new home. Rocky's the life of the party when it comes to meeting new people and he loves other dogs and would be happy to share space with other dogs in his new home. Imagine this: Rocky's goofy antics during playtime followed by some well-deserved couch cuddles. Rocky is longing for the happiness that only a home can bring. Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $100 if picked up in TN, $175 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Meet Tofu, the sweetest tail-wagging bundle of joy! This petite, 2-year-old, 32lb Mountain Cur mix is on the hunt for her forever home, and she comes with a smile that can brighten anyone's day. Tofu's personality is as endearing as her wigglebutt. She has a medium energy level, typically very active outside and mostly relaxed and calm inside. She likes to flop over for belly rubs all the time! She's a tad shy with new people at first, but her heart melts quickly, and she'll be your shadow in no time. Tofu is a pro at "sit" and "come" and is housetrained with no accidents plus she is trustworthy in the house. This charming girl has a playful side too! She adores squeaky toys and would love a playful doggy sibling to frolic with in a fenced-in yard. Although she's not a big fan of car rides now, we predict her confidence will grow with each adventure. Tofu's ideal home? One that's somewhat active, where she can burn off energy and have a confident dog pal. She's even kid-friendly. With a heart full of love and a happy smile, Tofu is ready to make your life a whole lot brighter. Make plans to meet this darling, and you'll see why she's the perfect addition to your family. Say goodbye to boring days – Tofu is here to make every moment a joyous one!   Interested in adopting? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   UPDATE 4/1/23: Tye seems like a sad sack at first glance, but give him one second, and he will show you heaps of affection. He loves to be touched and to touch you. He is submissive and has not shown himself as pushy with us so far. It is a different story with cats though. When introduced to our cats, he thought it was great sport to bark at them. And he was ready and set to chase if given the chance. Can we really blame a hound for not trying? Tye has proven to us that he is really a people pooch. He makes it clear that he prefers for other dogs to stay away from him. He seriously doesn’t enjoy their company but is an absolute love-muffin with people. Tye came in as a bag of bones (underweight at @40 pounds), so we've been working to get him up to prime weight and health. He was seen by the veterinarian at the end of November for neutering, testing, and to have all necessary vaccinations etc. His age was determined to be about 3 ½. Now that he is through with his vetting and has put on some pounds, he is ready to find his happy place in the world. Tye is waiting for someone to tie him up with love and bring him home. This boy has the look of a smooth-coated hunting Lurcher with Whippet influences. Can't you see him waiting at your door wagging his short (bobbed) tail, his feet dancing in delight at your approach? Please fill out our online application if you would like to meet our Tye .Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    December 10, 2023, 5:55 am

Story
Greetings! My name is Percival Forthwind (you can call me Percy) and I am a 1 year old Mountain Cur/Plott Hound mix that is looking for a home to call mine. I'm a friendly, lovable boy, who'll fit into your family like a glove. I came to SVASC when my former humans took a new job that required extended hours away from home. After arrival at the shelter, staff quickly realized just how cool of a dog that I am; I love everyone and really, haven't met a stranger yet. I love to play with other dogs and also enjoy "talking" when I would like attention and pets. I do pretty good for car rides, appear to be house trained, and am likely crate trained, as well. I love to go for walks, but am really happy to just hang out with you! My adoption fee is $125, which covers all of my vetting. If you would like more information on me, please give SVASC a call at (540) 943-5142, email SVASC at ewiles@co.augusta.va.us. I am currently in foster care, so please call ahead and ask about Percy!

These pups are in Staunton, Virginia too!
