Hi everyone! My name is Rusty. I am a very friendly and energetic 6 1/2 year old Plott Hound mix who was sadly surrendered to the shelter when the only family I have ever known could no longer afford to keep me. I unfortunately have skin allergies and hyperthyroidism, so I do require medication to help me keep that in check. However, I am responding very well to the medication I am on and doing well! I am struggling with the shelter environment, however. I am quite a talker, as most hounds are. Being here doesn't make it easy not to talk though - there's so much noise! I have lived with other dogs in the past, and I don't seem to really care about the other dogs here, so I would probably be able to share a home with another dog in the future! I also lived with young kids and did well with them! I am a lovable guy that just needs someone to give me a chance and take me home so I can be my sweet self. Could that be you? Hello! My name is Mayzee and I am a beautiful girl that was surrendered to the shelter because my family's living situation changed and they couldn't take me with them. I am very sad that I am here because I do not like my kennel. That being said, don't let my growling and fear in the kennel scare you away - I am way better outside of it! You just have to take it slow with me until I learn to trust you! Because of this, I would probably do best with children that can respect my space. Maybe teens and older? I have lived with cats in the past, but I did have a tendency to growl at them at times. I also may be able to share my home with another dog, but I tend to not like other female dogs, so maybe a male dog companion in my future would work? I really am a sweet and loyal dog - it just takes some time to get it out of me. Do you have the time and patience to show me the love that I deserve? Come ask to meet me here at the shelter!
