Trying to find Jack his perfect forever home. Jack is 8. Jack once belonged to a family member before I took him. Unfortunately, for his safety and well being, keeping him isn’t an option as I have a reactive dog. Jack is very sweet, playful, high energy. Very cuddly, loves belly rubs. Fast learner, obedient, excellent listener. Will do best in a child free house (may do okay with other dogs) and with experienced dog parent/s.

We've had Mercy since birth, she's Bentley's daughter, & she is exceptionally dear to me. The last time I gave her to a family as an emotional support pet, they tortured her. She came back to me weak, extremely skinny, & a very dull coat... they locked her in a cage & starved her. She is the sweetest dog ever & just wants to be up under you at all times & whenever she can. If you're busy, she will lay by your feet or if you're lay'n down... she'll hold your foot... lol. She is the perfect fit for someone who would love & need her cuddles just as much as Mercy craves & needs theirs. I promised her after last time that I'd never give her away again so it is extremely important to me that she goes to a good home.

Bjorn is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to see if you're a match! Bjorn came to us via our rescue partner in rural Alabama. He was listed as a "cocker spaniel mix", and when we first saw him, we did not see that at all. If you look at his photos with his long hair, it's tough to see any cocker spaniel. However, once he had a nice bath and groom, we were believers! Bjorn has been fortunate to spend the last week in a foster home decompressing, so we have learned a lot about him. His fosters say, "Bjorn is a high-energy dog that loves to play fetch with his FAVORITE person! Yes, he will bring the ball back and he will choose who to give the ball to. He loves belly rubs and will only sit on commend when treats are involved. He loves to parkour off couches and after a few rounds he will be out of breath, flip over and entice his audience to to give him belly rubs. After he expends his energy, he loves to take naps next to his people and be near them. Bjorn has a lot of love to give and extremely sweet. Warning! One look into his gentle hazel eyes, it will be hard to not look away as his cuteness will melt into one's heart and soul instantly!" Bjorn seems to know how to use pee pads in the house, but he is still working with his foster on going potty outside. He apparently also has quite an affinity for anything he can eat, whether it's his own food, people's food, or his own soft bed! Bjorn is looking for an adopter who is happy to take this sweet, loving boy from rough around the edges to Chicago gentleman. If you, like us, are unable to resist those eyes, we hope you'll inquire about him today! Bjorn’s adoption fee is $375. This animal is spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Hi, I’m Griswald (AKA Grizzy)!While I had a ruff start in life, I won’t let that get me down! I’m a professional wiggler and expert cuddler. Known for my dashing good looks and upbeat personality, I know I can be your new bestie!While I’m sad to say goodbye to my parents, I know this is what’s best for both me and them. During my time in Chicago, I’ve learned that I take my personal items a little too seriously and don’t always share my food or toys well with other dogs (resource guarding). I also struggle with seeing other dogs on leash (reactivity) and am not a big fan of being home alone (separation anxiety). These things combined make it hard for me to thrive in a busy city.Through working with a pro trainer I loved working for food and have developed a strong grasp of the basics, along with reactivity trainingEven though I came from an abusive home in my past, I’m still the happiest boy ever. Ranger is just a magnificent dog. I really can't say that enough. He is SO loving. You kind of have to force him to stop wanting love. Which can be annoying sometimes, but honestly, if him being too loving is the most annoying thing about him, sign anyone up. He LOVES playing fetch. Especially at Chicago's dog beaches. He is super friendly with other dogs, but also just doesn't really play with other dogs that much in general. He really just wants to play fetch. He is completely house trained. Can be alone for anywhere up to 8-9 hours. I usually don't go over 6 hours. He is 3 1/2 years old. About 53 lbs. He doesn't bark while at home, unless someone bangs on the front door or something. He will do some low level growling when someone is near the door. I honestly have always liked that because it provides security. He is very loving with kids, and I think he would be REALLY suitable for a family looking to get a dog. He LOVES playing with kids. He will protect them too.
