Story
Poe is a 4-year-old, neutered Pittie mix — a 60 lb bundle of joy who’s equal parts playful, loyal, and affectionate. He’s an outgoing, fun-loving guy with the perfect mix of goofiness and smarts — the kind of dog who’ll make you laugh one minute and melt your heart the next. Poe is being fostered in Austin, Texas, and transport out of state can be arranged for approved adopters. Please note, our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll reach out to coordinate a phone interview, followed by a video call with his foster home. A virtual home visit, plus personal and vet reference checks, are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. Poe has an enthusiastic play style and loves to run, romp, and wrestle. He’s friendly and social with other dogs, happily interacting with pups between 35–75 lbs. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be friends with everyone he meets — tail wagging, body wiggling, and eager to say hello. When another dog’s had enough playtime, he usually takes the hint and moves on politely. He absolutely adores kids and has lived with children ages 3–17. Poe’s gentle, affectionate nature shines through around them — he loves being part of a family. When it comes to walks, Poe does best if he’s had a chance to burn off some energy first. If he heads out right away, he tends to pull from excitement, but with a little leash work and structure, he’ll be a dream walking companion. Poe is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping quietly through the night from about 9:30/10 p.m. to 6 a.m. He’s always fed in his crate, not because he guards, but because it helps keep mealtime calm and routine. He’s never had any guarding issues with people and happily accepts treats or food from trusted hands. Poe’s personality is a perfect blend of curious, smart, silly, and affectionate. He loves tug toys, belly rubs, and hanging out with his humans. One of his most endearing quirks? He takes his backyard duties very seriously — every time he goes outside, he performs a full “perimeter patrol” before relaxing. He’s quiet when meeting strangers, preferring to take a moment to warm up before showing his true snuggly self. Poe is great in the car, fine with stairs, and overall an easy, happy guy to have around. He doesn’t require another dog in the home but would enjoy one with a compatible energy level if introduced slowly. Poe would thrive in a moderate-to-high activity home that can keep him busy — he loves walks, play sessions, and having a job to do. He’s terrified of thunder, fireworks, and loud buzzing noises like bug zappers, so his adopter should be ready to comfort him during those moments. His bark might sound tough, but underneath it all, he’s the biggest baby who just wants to feel safe. He could benefit from continued leash training and learning a few more commands to help him be his best self, but he’s eager to learn and loves pleasing his people. If you’re looking for a playful, loyal, and big-hearted companion who’ll patrol your yard by day and snuggle by night, Poe is your guy. ? ___ Breed and Age Notice: The listed breed and age are our best estimates. Story
Venom, 9 weeks (estimated DOB Jan 2026), male, Retriever/Pitbull mix, currently 15 pounds, but expected to be a large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS And can transport once an adopter is matched. There is also a picture of mom included for reference in terms of breed and size. This family was rescued from the woods in a rural and well known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda, mom, had her litter of puppies during a cold freeze that came through Texas at that time. A networker discovered her and her 2 day old puppies. We were able to move mom and 6 puppies to safety in a foster home. Venom is starting to navigate the world around him. He has his siblings and mom to play with. Despite his name, he is a little bit of a scaredy cat. He has been around kids, but no interactions with cats. He is not fully housebroken or crate trained. Puppyhood is a crucial developmental period. It’s when they learn house manners, crate comfort, appropriate chewing habits, and how to navigate the world with confidence. Leash work doesn’t happen overnight — it takes daily practice, positive reinforcement, and lots of encouragement to help a puppy learn not to pull, zig-zag, or get distracted by every leaf that blows by. The time invested early makes all the difference later. One of the biggest areas of focus at this age is socialization. Safe, positive exposure to new people, sounds, environments, and other dogs helps shape a stable, confident adult dog. We love seeing our puppies grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication cues, and boundaries in ways humans simply can’t replicate. For that reason, we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide this puppy. That said, we understand that not every home has another dog. If you do not currently have a dog, we will want to know your specific plan for socialization once your puppy is old enough and fully vaccinated. This might include structured puppy classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, supervised daycare, or other intentional, safe opportunities for positive canine interaction. A proactive approach is essential. Because this is such an important stage of development, we also do not adopt puppies of this age into homes where someone is away for more than four hours at a time during the day. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, structured training sessions, enrichment, and human interaction to build healthy habits and prevent anxiety or behavioral challenges. This early investment sets them up for lifelong success. Raising a puppy takes time, flexibility, and dedication — but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and grows into a confident, well-balanced dog. If you’re ready for the work, the payoff is immeasurable. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
Sean Connery is a 6-month-old, 35 lb, neutered male Pitbull mix (DOB 5/23/25), expected to be a larger adult once fully grown. He has adorable speckled paws and a speckled chest that make him even more striking and unique. He is in the foster home where he was born in Houston, Texas, and can transport to the Petfinder-listed city once an adopter has completed our screening process, virtual home visit, and reference checks. Charming, confident, and full of heart — just like his namesake! Sean Connery is a sweet, social puppy who loves to play with his siblings (but not in an over-the-top way). He’s affectionate, loves giving kisses, and enjoys being near his people. While he can be nervous at first, he warms up quickly with gentle introductions and reassurance. Sean hasn’t been around children yet, but we expect he will do well with kids who are respectful of a dog’s boundaries. We have no history with cats. Sean has been introduced to a crate and is working on his potty training routine. He’s a smart, eager-to-please boy already showing great obedience for his age, but like all puppies, he’ll need continued guidance as he grows — leash walking, manners, and a consistent daily routine will help him thrive. Because he’s still so young, we’re looking for a home where someone is home more often than they are away — puppies truly flourish with time, structure, and companionship. He’s great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. If you’re ready for puppy breath, snuggles, and the joy (and occasional chaos!) of raising a wonderful dog, Sean Connery just might be your perfect match. __ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. Shadow, 5 years old, neutered male, Labrador Retriever mix, 80 pounds. He is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas and can transport once an adopter is approved. When we saw someone post about this guy needing help, we did not waste a second. He was dumped in a known dumping ground for animals outside of Houston. We never understand how this happens to these sweet souls. Meet Shadow — The Sweetest Gentleman 🖤 Shadow is the definition of a gentle soul. This affectionate, easygoing boy wins hearts everywhere he goes with his calm nature, soft eyes, and polite manners. He loves attention and will happily offer you his paw for a handshake before leaning in for kisses, but he’s just as content relaxing nearby or lounging on his own when it’s time to unwind. Shadow is fully house-trained and had zero accidents in his foster home. He enjoys spending time outside in nice weather, sometimes even making himself a cozy little “den” in the yard where he can relax and watch the world go by. He’s quiet, rarely barks, and is wonderfully well-mannered in the home. Dog Social & Gentle by Nature Shadow absolutely loves other dogs and greets them calmly and politely. He enjoys playing and is incredibly tolerant—even letting his canine friends climb all over him. He’s not possessive over food or toys and has shown excellent manners in group settings. He would thrive in a home with another friendly dog or with someone who’s around often, since he prefers companionship and can feel a little stressed if left alone too long. Personality & Training Shadow has a low-to-moderate energy level. He enjoys short walks and is improving on leash, though he’s still learning and can occasionally be a bit stubborn if he decides he’d rather not move. When that happens, he’ll let you pick him up without fuss—he’s just a big softie (literally and figuratively). He’s calm with strangers, did wonderfully at the vet, and seems comfortable around both men and women. Things to Know Not a fan of crates and may get stressed if confined alone Slightly unsure about cars and needs help getting in Likes soft toys and chew bones Curious but respectful around cats Best suited for a low-to-moderate activity home Shadow is a happy, gentle boy who simply wants a loving family to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, calm companion who will shower you with affection and peaceful company, Shadow is ready to be your perfect match. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. He has typical puppy energy. He has not interacted with cats, but has been around children. Puppyhood is a crucial developmental period. Story
Maggie and Mocha are both blood related from the same litter, we took them in about 4 years ago this month and they were extremely malnourished and sick when we took them in. We never expected to have to move, but unfortunately now we do and these two ladies can’t come with us. They genuinely are both the sweetest dogs, they unfortunately don’t get along with other small dogs or cats, but we are unsure of big dogs. We would like them to go to someone with experience with their breed, they’re both pit bulls so they have a stereotype. They absolutely must stay together as well, given they’ve been together since birth. We’re considering having them both spayed before rehoming, to make things much easier on whoever takes them. They’re both big love bugs, and very playful. We aren’t asking an adoption fee given their needs, but for the right people of course
