DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Fezzik (Fez) is 3yo, weighs 130lbs, is neither neutered, nor up to date on his vaccines, nor microchipped.  "Fez is a big boy with a big voice, but a sweet, gentle soul.  He would be best in a home with adults or older kids.  He loves kids and cats and wants to play with them but doesn't always realize how big he is.  Fez loves bath time, playing tug-of-war, and being around people.  He loves to have access to his crate and toys.  He can be protective of his food if other animals are around.  He knows the commands sit, down, off, crate and touch.  He also knows spot and come but is more often than not stubborn and will not listen.  Fez dislikes having his backside touched and is terrified of the vacuum, but he's very good during car rides." Fez's guardian states the reason she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Our yard is small and he does not have space that a dog his size needs to roam and exercise. We live in a small 3 level townhouse that he is scared to go up and down one of the larger flights of stairs. We have been unable to leash walk him did to his size. We have tried private and group training. I don’t feel like we are giving him the best life and want him to be in a home where he can be happy, comfortable, and have the space he needs to play, sleep, and live." Fez's guardian states the following regarding children:  Fez lives with children, ages 10 and 16, so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "He gets excited and will jump around and sometimes barks for attention.  Both of these can be intimidating for kids, especially younger ones." Fez's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Fez doesn't live with dogs, his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He's excited and pulls to get to them and barks at them." Fez's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Fez lives with cats, so his guardian recommends his living with cats, but has not been around cats outside the home. Fez's guardian describes him as: Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Fez's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Fez preferably needs a large, fenced in yard.  He would love space to roam, run, and play.  He loves water, so a pool, pond, or something on property or close would  be nice.  He would do fine in a home with cats, but most cats would not appreciate his playfulness and size.  I think he would do well with other dogs." Great Pyrenees Labrador Retriever

Male, Senior
Rockville, MD
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Spayed or Neutered,
Nice to meet you, I'm Ace! I may be a little older, but I still love to have fun. I'm a gentle giant, so please don't let my size intimidate you. I love having my belly rubbed, but may need a bit of time to warm up to you first. I'm the kind of dog who could just lie in the sunshine all day, and show off my signature smile! I know a whole bunch of commands, such as sit, stay, down, high five, and paw. Due to my size the staff at MCHS believe that I would do best in a home with adults only! No Children!. Since I'm a bigger boy, no apartments please since I need more space to accommodate me. Also, I like being the king of the castle, so no other animals please. Just me and my fur-ever humans having fun would be a dream come true! If I sound like the perfect pack mate, fill out an app today!

Jack Frost

Great Pyrenees Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, Young
Potomac, MD
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Introducing Jack Frost! This gorgeous 9 month old great pyr mix boy should be about 45 pounds when full grown. He had a very rough start in life and came to us extremely underweight, but with TLC and good nutrition he's becoming his healthy gorgeous self. His foster mom reports he is a goofy, sweet pup who loves to play and please. He is extremely loyal - a true velcro boy who wants to be near you. Jack is thriving in his foster home, learning all of the life skills he missed learning due to his rough start. He is a little bit fearful of new things, which can be scary to him - but he is a really quick learner and he adapts fast. He is respecting house rules and learning to read his foster dog siblings' signals - and he went from clueless about housetraining to almost there within a few days. Jack Frost walks well on a lead and he loves people, kids included - he has been hanging out as a greeter at his foster mom's retail store and supervising the Christmas decorating along with his foster dog siblings. Jack would love a family who is committed to his ongoing training and to giving him a routine - and who will give him the structure and time and love he needs to thrive. Jack Frost is special - if you can give this little man his best life, apply now! The adoption fee for this dog is $350 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter.
