A stunningly handsome Flat-Coated Retriever mix who is on the hunt for his forever home. This energetic, intelligent boy is eager to please and loves nothing more than being wherever his favorite person happens to be. Whether you're heading out for a car ride (one of his favorite things!) or simply spending time together at home, Franklin wants to be part of the fun. Franklin does well with other dogs and adults, but he may be a bit too jumpy for children. He is crate and house trained, and even knows some basic commands. He is easy to train with treats and positive reinforcement and he hasn't shown any interest in chewing shoes, furniture, or other inappropriate items, although he is best crated when left alone. Like many dogs, Franklin has a few areas where he needs understanding and continued guidance. He can pull on leash, but a Gentle Leader can help make walks more enjoyable for everyone. He also struggles with some separation anxiety, is sensitive to loud noises and thunderstorms, and may need some continued work with his potty training. Franklin can be protective of his favorite toys, chews, and treat balls, so an adopter who understands resource guarding and is willing to work with him using positive, reward-based techniques will be important. Franklin is looking for an active, patient, and loving family who will appreciate his wonderful qualities while helping him navigate the things he finds challenging.
