Story
Moose came into our lives at just 8 weeks old from a breeder in upstate New York. Our grey and white Newfoundland with striking green eyes will be 2 years old in July, and in that time he has grown into the most lovable, goofy, gentle giant. True to his name, Moose is big in every way — big paws, big personality, and an even bigger heart. He has that playful, happy energy that gives off “Clifford the Big Red Dog” vibes, but he can just as easily turn into the world’s coziest couch companion, happy to relax near the people he loves most. He has been adored by our entire family, especially our three children, and has brought so much laughter and warmth into our home. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, and we are hoping to find him a wonderful home where he will be just as loved.

These pups are in New Square, New York too!

Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old and weighs 121 lbs. He was very thin when he first came to us but is now at his perfect weight. He is neutered, up to date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence, and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He also has an obsession with deer! For that reason, a privacy fence would be ideal if you have deer around your home. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. He is learning commands like sit and stay and he really tries to please! This is what his foster mom says about him " Charlie is amazing. He is housebroken, loves to be hugged, hasn’t chewed anything up, likes to play but is content just to chill. He walks beautifully on a leash and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. Charlie enjoys sitting and looking out the window, hanging around in the kitchen especially when I’m cooking and going for car rides". Although this breed is known for having a stubborn streak, Charlie seems to understand a few commands wait, it’s ok, no, come, let’s go and he will even sit for a treat. But his favorite is Good Boy Charlie❤️" This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! Story
Sweetheart is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, but somehow ends up with your whole heart anyway. At 5 months old, this tall and graceful Great Pyrenees girl is still growing into her destiny to be a possible 80 pounds girl.  She is currently  28 pounds and expected to become a stunning adult. Her name means “beautiful girl,” and it suits her not just because of her looks, but because of the calm, loving way she moves through the world. Her life didn’t begin with comfort or consistency. She was originally bought to be a guardian dog for a farm in rural Tennessee. Placed outside with no real interaction from the owner, she was with another older Great Pyr who was already working the farm.  Out of boredom, Sweetheart, started chasing the cows on the property.  This was infuriating and unacceptable to the farmer/owner and so he threatened to shoot her. The local shelter in that county asked Critter Cavalry Rescue to take her in to foster care before her life was ended so tragically.  When CCR rescue stepped in, she arrived shy but has quickly blossomed in to a calm and gentle soul that loves children and likes meeting new adults. That alone says everything about the kind of soul she has. Now in a foster home experienced with Great Pyrenees,  she is quietly blossoming. She had never lived indoors before, yet she’s settling in with remarkable ease. She isn’t destructive, doesn’t seek chaos, and seems content simply being near her people. House training is still new to her, but she’s learning steadily, trying her best in a world that is still very new. Sweetheart is wonderfully social in a calm, respectful way. She lives peacefully with other dogs and a cat, enjoying the comfort of shared space and gentle companionship. She adores belly rubs and has discovered the joy of stretching out beside her humans on the couch, soaking in affection as if she’s always known it was meant for her. She loves the outdoors, but she also listens when it’s time to come inside, happily choosing closeness over freedom. Toys are still a novelty, and watching her figure them out—offering soft play bows and tentative curiosity—is a reminder of how much joy she still has ahead of her. Like many Great Pyrenees, she has a thoughtful, independent streak, but it’s paired with kindness and an unshakable calm. Sweetheart is gentle with children, respectful with other animals, and carries herself with a quiet dignity that feels grounding just to be around. She has no bitterness from her past, only an open heart and a peaceful presence. She will be the kind of dog who brings comfort on hard days and calm on busy ones, the kind who makes a house feel like a home. She is good on a leash and doesn't pull which is remarkable. Sweetheart is ready for a family who values gentleness, patience, and quiet love. She needs a fenced yard and is not a good condo or apartment candidate.  Just not the lifestyle that a Great Pyrenees can thrive in. She isn’t flashy—she’s something better. She’s the kind of dog you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.   Please let us know where you live.  We adopt out of state to the northeastern states as well here in Nashville, Tn where the rescue is based.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 24, 2026, 11:27 pm

Story
Sylvia is the kind of dog who makes people stop and smile before they even realize why. With her enormous, cloud-like head of white fluff and soulful expression, this Great Pyrenees girl radiates beauty and quiet confidence. Born around November 5th, 2025, Sylvia already carries herself like royalty and truly believes she deserves to be adored. And honestly, once you meet her, it’s hard to disagree.   Sylvia is deeply people-oriented and thrives on connection. She wants to be wherever her humans are, involved in whatever they’re doing, watching closely and making sure she’s not missing a thing. She has no hesitation about expressing her feelings and will gently but clearly let you know when she expects attention, affection, or reassurance. Grooming time is one of her greatest joys, and she soaks up brushing, petting, and pampering as if it were her rightful due.   Playtime brings out her youthful sparkle. Balls and squeaky toys are her absolute favorites, and she delights in engaging both people and other dogs with her friendly, confident nature. Sylvia approaches new humans and canine friends with ease, showing no shyness and a naturally social heart. She has spent time with children, allowing herself to be hugged, handled, and even carried around with remarkable patience and grace, clearly enjoying the attention. While she hasn’t met cats yet, her calm and tolerant temperament suggests she would adjust just fine.   Sylvia will grow into a large and impressive dog, expected to reach at least 80 pounds. As a true Great Pyrenees, she will need space to roam and fulfill her instinct to observe and patrol her surroundings. A securely fenced yard is essential unless she has access to wide-open acreage where she can stretch her legs and feel at ease. With the right environment and a family that appreciates her devoted, affectionate nature, Sylvia will be an extraordinary companion who adds joy, beauty, and a little sparkle to every day.     If you are interested in adopting this beautiful great pyrenees puppy who is ready to come to your home on January 30th please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at Ccrnewengland@gmail.com A   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 24, 2026, 11:27 pm
