Story
Meet Rosco! He is a sweet boy but can be a bossy one, though regardless he always has a lot to say! He needs a home that is active and can provide lots of stimulation. Rosco can be protective, or even territorial in a setting that has kids, so he would do best in child-free home. He is very excitable, and every person he greets can't help but smile at his precious scruffy face and wiggly tail. Rosco loves to go for walks with his favorite humans, but enjoys playing in the yards with his doggie friends just as much. We love Rosco and we are sure you will love him too! Apply to come and meet Rosco today!

Story
Thank you for your interest in this sweet boy. Furgus has been adopted, Furguson is about 4 years old and 16 lbs. He is a nice little dog who loves hanging out with you. He gets along with other dogs but doesn't want to play with them. He would love to be an only dog if you do not work a full workday and would need a canine companion for him if you do. Furgus is a people dog and gets along with men and women but he lights up when he sees a man. No young children should be in the home where he lives because he has no patience with them. He is a sweet and good-natured fellow who can also be very vocal when he wants and has much to say. A perfect day for him is a stroll through the backyard, walking, riding in the car, or just sitting in his bed next to you or on the chair where you sit. He is not interested in toys at all. Furgus sleeps all night in his bed and is house-trained. He is a loving dog who needs to be in a quiet home where he can let his hair down. We do not know how he would be with cats in the home. Furgus is being fostered in San Francisco. His adoption fee is $275.00. Please contact us for more info or an application to adopt at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received.

Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application. * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 27th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Meet Shasta: A Loyal Little Companion with a Big Heart   Shasta is a 3 year old Yorkie-type Terrier mix with a striking coat and an even more striking personality. Her beautiful fur— white with black-tipped strands that fluff up like feathers in the breeze— turns heads wherever she goes. But what truly makes Shasta special is her devotion to her people. She’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she’s near you, whether that means cuddling on the couch, following you from room to room, or simply lounging by your side after a fun day.   Shasta is a dog who forms strong bonds and gives her whole heart to her family. With guidance, patience, and consistency, she has all the makings of an incredibly rewarding companion.   Daily Routine & Lifestyle   Shasta thrives on a predictable routine and enjoys a balance of activity and relaxation. She typically wakes up around 6:30 a.m. and politely lets you know she needs to go outside by whining at the bedroom door and doing her adorable little “tippy-tappys.” After her morning potty break, she enjoys some quiet lounging time before breakfast, which is served between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m.— and she greets every meal with joyful enthusiasm, bouncing up and down in excitement.   After breakfast, Shasta enjoys a cozy nap followed by playtime with her toys in the living room. Late mornings often include a walk to the park for exercise, which she looks forward to with great excitement whenever the leash comes out. During the day, she happily relaxes at home, and if the back door is open, she’ll take herself outside to potty, soak up the sunshine, or nibble on a bit of grass.   Dinner is usually around 5:30–6:00 p.m., once again celebrated with tail wags and happy hops. Evenings are spent relaxing on the couch, playing with toys, and enjoying time with her people before bedtime.   Personality: From Cautious to Devoted   When Shasta first arrived in her foster home, she was understandably wary and unsure in her new environment. She growled a bit at first and kept her distance while she figured things out. With patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats, she quickly began to trust her foster family. Within 24 hours, her personality began to shine—she started engaging, exploring the backyard, and showing her affectionate side.   Today, Shasta is a loyal, people-oriented dog who loves companionship. She tends to follow her person from room to room and eagerly keeps up with the household. She enjoys sitting close on the couch and often chooses to cuddle up next to you or lean against your leg. She has a playful side too, especially when it comes to tug-of-war or a good game of fetch.   One of her cutest quirks is how she cools off after getting cozy— she’ll hop down from the sofa and do a full “sploot” on the cool floor, sometimes rolling onto her back with her belly in the air in what can only be described as a reverse sploot.   Play Style & Energy Level   Shasta is a nice blend of playful and relaxed. She enjoys her walks and gets very excited when it’s time to head out, happily bouncing in anticipation. She also loves interactive play, especially tug-of-war and chasing toys, but she’s equally content lounging around the house or soaking up the sun outdoors.   She recently completed a two-mile walk along the beach and had a fantastic time, showing that she can be a great companion for someone who enjoys regular outings and adventures.   Dog Social Skills   Shasta currently lives with a similarly sized Chihuahua mix and has learned to coexist well after an adjustment period. She can be selective with other dogs, particularly larger ones, and may bark or pull on leash when she sees them. With proper introductions, structure, and continued training, she has shown that she can improve and build positive relationships.   Training & Areas for Growth   Shasta is a smart and very trainable dog who has already made meaningful progress in her foster home. Like many dogs, she comes with a few behaviors that will require continued guidance:   Leash manners: She tends to pull and can become reactive when she sees other dogs, especially larger ones.   Resource guarding: She may guard high-value items, food, or spaces, and can be protective of her person or environment. She has already demonstrated the ability to trade items and respond to redirection.   Visitor greetings: She may bark when new people enter the home, but settles with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement.   The encouraging news is that Shasta responds well to training and has already shown improvement with consistency and exercise. She is not a difficult dog— she is a dog who needs clear guidance and a committed, dog-savvy adopter willing to continue the great training work her foster is doing.   House Training   Shasta is reliably house-trained when given access to the outdoors. If the back door is open, she will take herself outside to potty independently. She also communicates her needs clearly, especially in the morning, by whining at the door to let you know it’s time to go out.   She does not chew on inappropriate items and shows good household manners overall.     She is not a “plug-and-play” dog, but she is absolutely a dog worth investing in. For the right person, Shasta will be an incredibly devoted companion.    Due to her challenges, Shasta is only an option for older children who understand boundaries and can give her space when needed.   Why You’ll Love Her   Shasta is sweet, funny, expressive, and deeply attached to her people. Whether she’s bouncing with excitement at mealtime, chasing a butterfly in the backyard like something out of a movie, or performing her signature sploot to cool off, she brings personality and charm to everyday life.   Most of all, she is a dog who wants to belong— to be loved, guided, and included. And in return, she will offer loyalty, affection, and companionship in abundance. June 24, 2026, 7:42 pm

Adoption fee: $650 Meet Triscuit, the belly rub connoisseur!   At 4 years old and just under 10 pounds, Triscuit is a scruffy little Terri-poo with soft cloud-like hair, expressive opinions, and a heart that desperately wants to trust and belong. He came to rescue with his buddy Ritz after being picked up as a stray, and while it’s clear life hasn’t always been easy for him, watching him discover the comforts of home has been incredibly rewarding.   When Triscuit first arrived, the world inside a house seemed completely foreign to him. Leashes? Confusing. Walks? Absolutely not. On his very first evening walk attempt, he froze completely and had to be gently carried to the grass. By the next morning, treats helped convince him to take a few tiny steps. By day three? He was excitedly wagging at the sight of the leash and proudly trotting through the neighborhood like he’d been doing it his whole life.   Now, walks are one of his favorite things.   Daily Life with Triscuit   Triscuit wakes up sometime between 6:30–8:00 AM. Most mornings he quietly waits for his humans to get up, though occasionally he’ll let out a tiny bark to politely remind everyone that breakfast and bathroom breaks are important business.   He eats twice a day and enjoys two walks daily. Depending on the timing, he may choose breakfast first or adventure first — he’s flexible like that.   During the day, Triscuit likes to keep tabs on his people without necessarily being glued to them. He’ll lounge a few sofa cushions away, curl up in a nearby dog bed, sprawl across the cool kitchen tiles, or supervise backyard activities from the yard. He follows his foster around the house in a sweet, quiet way, settling nearby once he decides you’re staying put for a while.   At night, he happily sleeps in his crate in the bedroom and genuinely seems to enjoy having his own cozy little den. Sometimes he’ll even tuck himself in there during the day when he wants to relax.   Professional Belly Rub Solicitor   If Triscuit had a full-time job, it would be convincing humans to rub his belly.   This boy LOVES affection — on his terms. He has perfected the dramatic belly flop maneuver and will happily roll over for scratches whenever an opportunity presents itself. While he’s not exactly a velcro lap dog, he absolutely wants to be near his people and involved in whatever’s going on.   One of the funniest things about him? He sleeps completely upside down with all four legs sticking straight into the air like a tiny fluffy fainting goat. Deep sleep in this house apparently requires maximum dramatic flair.   Smart, Sensitive, and Still Learning   Triscuit is a sensitive little guy who appreciates respectful handling and predictable interactions. While he adores people, there were a couple of moments where he gave warnings when someone reached to pet him without checking in first while he was resting nearby. Because of this, he’d do best in a home with older children or adults who understand canine boundaries and will allow him space when he’s relaxing.   The beautiful thing about Triscuit is that despite whatever hardships he experienced before rescue, he still chooses connection. He seeks out affection constantly, follows his people around, and genuinely wants to bond.   Social Butterfly with Opinions   Triscuit loves seeing people and dogs on walks and would happily greet every living creature in the neighborhood if allowed. He gets excited when spotting dogs from afar and sometimes barks because he’s eager to say hello. That said, he has also shown he can settle beautifully in public spaces. He accompanied his foster to both an office and a café and, after an initial adjustment period, relaxed quietly on a dog bed or watched the world go by while his human enjoyed coffee with friends.   Future Home Dreams   Triscuit would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands he’s still learning how to “dog” in a family environment.   Most of all, he needs adopters who appreciate the incredibly rewarding process of helping a shy, uncertain dog continue blossoming into his best self.   Underneath the cautious moments and occasional barking is a goofy little sweetheart with impossibly soft fluffy hair, an endless desire for belly rubs, and a talent for sleeping upside down like it’s an Olympic sport.   Whoever adopts Triscuit won’t just be getting a dog — they’ll get to be part of his next chapter, and that’s something pretty special. June 24, 2026, 7:42 pm

Over the past several weeks, while lovingly raising her five puppies, she has blossomed into an incredibly affectionate, intelligent, and emotionally intuitive companion. She has gone from a cautious newcomer to a confident family dog who thrives on connection and being included in everyday life.   Personality   One of the first things people notice about Clue is how expressive she is. She communicates with her eyes, body language, and gentle gestures in a way that feels almost human.   She pays close attention to conversations, routines, and the people around her. Clue loves learning words and quickly picks up on household patterns. She knows the children's names, understands numerous commands and phrases, and seems genuinely excited when she recognizes familiar words like 'car,' 'outside,' 'treat,' 'food,' and 'pets.'   She is affectionate without being demanding. A gentle paw on your leg is her way of asking for a cuddle. She loves hugs, snuggles, kisses, and spending time with her people. She has formed strong bonds not only with her foster family but also with family friends who visit regularly.   Daily Life   Clue wakes with the family each morning and happily joins in whatever the day brings. She enjoys car rides, school drop offs, errands, and simply being near her people.   If someone is working from home, she may quietly follow along or settle on the couch nearby. During the day, she loves stretching out in a sunny spot for a nap. Recently, after spending so much time focused on raising her puppies, her playful side has begun to emerge. One of her favorite games is stealing the 8 year old's socks and playing hide and seek with them.   At night, she willingly settles into her sleeping area when told 'bedtime' and patiently waits until morning, even though she is fully capable of climbing out.   Training and Intelligence   Clue is remarkably trainable. She learned household expectations quickly through positive reinforcement and has mastered skills such as sit, stay, waiting at doors, shake, place, and recall.   What makes her special is not just her intelligence but her willingness to learn. When presented with a behavior that needs improvement, she genuinely seems eager to understand what is expected and succeeds quickly with consistency and guidance.   She has learned the children's names, recognizes many household routines, and actively listens for words she knows. Living with Clue often feels less like owning a dog and more like sharing your home with a thoughtful companion who wants to understand and participate in family life.   Energy Level and Exercise   Her energy level is best described as calm and balanced. She settles beautifully inside the home and behaves like a mature adult dog.   While she enjoys relaxing with her family, she would love regular walks and opportunities to explore the world. Having spent the past several weeks focused on raising puppies, she is ready to enjoy more adventures, outings, and car rides.   She walks nicely on leash with minimal direction, rides quietly in the car, and gains confidence in new places when accompanied by her people. She does not display hyperactive behavior, zoomies, or destructive tendencies. When left alone, she is content to relax on the couch or watch for her family from the window.   Kids, Cats, and Other Animals   Clue is especially wonderful with children and has lived happily with kids ages 8 to 13. She enjoys following them around, relaxing at their feet during homework, cuddling during movie nights, and running around the yard with them. She has recently discovered the joy of fetch and is enthusiastically learning the game.   She currently lives with two resident cats and has learned household boundaries around them. She is respectful of their space and responds well to structure and guidance. Like many dogs, she finds squirrels and birds very interesting and would happily chase them if given the opportunity.   House Manners   Clue is house trained, uses a dog door, and reliably signals when she needs to go outside by pacing near the door.   She does not chew, dig, or engage in destructive behavior. She prefers going outside to potty and has not shown interest in using potty pads.   She is an appropriate alert barker and will let her family know when someone unfamiliar enters the property. Early on, she barked at regular visitors such as the gardener and pool technician, but once she understood they were part of the routine, she stopped. Clue learns quickly who belongs and adjusts her behavior accordingly.   Ideal Home   Clue would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily activities, enjoy regular walks, and accompany her family on outings whenever possible.   At just 22 pounds, Clue is the perfect size for almost any lifestyle. She's small enough to travel comfortably, fit easily into the car, and curl up beside you on the couch, yet sturdy enough to join her family on walks, adventures, and everyday activities.   Whether that home includes children, adults, or other pets, her greatest desire is simply to belong. She wants to be part of the family and share in life's everyday moments.   Why We Love Clue   My favorite thing about Clue is how respectfully she communicates her wants and needs. Rather than demanding attention, she asks for it. A gentle paw means she would like to snuggle. In the morning, she may patiently sit by the door and ask to join you for a car ride.   She is deeply in tune with the people around her and has a remarkable ability to match the energy of the moment. Whether you need a walking companion, a cuddle buddy, or a quiet friend nearby, Clue is happy to fill the role.   She is also incredibly teachable. When there is an undesirable behavior, Clue does not get stuck in it. She is open to learning, eager to understand expectations, and genuinely wants to get it right. Watching her grow in confidence and learn new skills has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering her.   If you're looking for a dog who is loving, intelligent, eager to learn, emotionally connected, and endlessly loyal, Clue may be the missing piece you've been searching for. She has spent the last several weeks devoted to raising her puppies. Now it's her turn to find a family of her own.     June 24, 2026, 7:42 pm
