Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Jewg4uEzFDo Jerry and his brother Benny are the cutest little things. They do not have to be adopted together. They are about 6 months old and spunky, friendly, happy, adventurous, curious, loving, and great with all dogs and with cats. They are active and are not lap dogs. They do love cuddles and being petted, but they are terriers and love the outdoors and exploring the woods and the pond. Unlike other small breed dogs, these types of dogs are not couch potatoes so they will need play time and activities. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Story
Meet Alpha, a super sweet adult neutered male Cairn terrier/small terrier mix! This adorable scruffy boy is currently overweight at about 28 lbs, we are working on getting him to a healthier weight (22-25 lbs would be a better range for him).  When he was originally taken into rescue in east TN, the vet estimated his age at 2-4 years. We now think he may be older than this, although we are unsure of his actual age. He has some stiffness in his rear legs and he hops around a little funny (possibly age related arthritis or an old injury - likely exacerbated by his weight). This doesn't stop him one bit though, he gets around just fine and has no problem with stairs. He loves walks and spending time outside, but he is a lower energy guy and does not require a ton of exercise. Alpha is a friendly boy who loves people! He is happy as can be when he is by your side, he loves to nap on the couch or by your feet and is a wonderful companion. Ear scratches are his favorite! He also loves to play with toys! He generally does well with other dogs, however he can be dog selective. He tends to do best with other lower energy, mellow dogs who give him space. He has been cat tested and does fine with dog savvy cats, he ignores them.  We think Alpha would do best in a calm home with older children 12+ who know to respect a dogs space, or no children.  He is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. A 100% good doggo! Apply to meet this special boy today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2453104##
