Looks like: Papillon mix Female, 10 months old (estimated), 6 pounds Bindi is a young, medically challenging puppy who was picked up as a stray in Salinas. This poor girl was found hobbling around experiencing some obvious neurological issues. Poor thing! We can't even imagine her out in the big world by herself. Bindi is searching for a family with people who can be home with her most of the day, as she does topple over and has a challenging time getting back up. She will also need baths more regularly than your average pup, as she sometimes topples into her potty piles. She seems to love being around other, gentle dogs and she even gets the zoomies! She would do best in a home with minimal obstructions as she can get stuck in odd places when she's exploring. While we think her vision is impaired, she is still able to navigate her surroundings once she learns them. Bindi has come a long way in the past few months with her loving foster. We are excited to share that Bindi was assessed by a neurologist and received an MRI. Bindi will likely be a special needs dog her whole life, stemming from malnourishment early in her development. They don't, however, think this is causing her any pain! We are hopeful her balance and general wellbeing will continue to improve with a balanced diet and comfortable lifestyle. She may also benefit from physical therpay for balance. If you are interested, please watch the video at the end of her profile here for a closer look at her symptoms. Please note that she is always kept in a safe and monitored environment here, and she is able to get herself back up and keep her head safe when falling. While Bindi has already been through so much in her short life, she still has much to learn. Puppy socialization is critical to lifelong behavior and skills for any dog, so we want to ensure Bindi's next home is up for meeting her medical needs as well as her socialization and exposure needs as a growing puppy. Bindi joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was found as a stray. While Bindi isn't our usual senior dog, she was out of options due to her medical need. With no other rescues able to take her in, we decided Bindi was destined to become a POMDR pup!

Hello. My stepdad passed away recently, and I've been taking care of Kenji since then. I was able to balance my college coursework while training/taking care of her. Now that I have to work full-time, I won't be able to provide the attention and effort she needs. Kenji is around 5 years old; her birthday is in December 2021. I was able to get her potty- and crate-trained, also taught her a few commands (sit, paw, release word: 'go', and bed). Her current schedule is eating twice a day, and I walk her 3x daily. She loves eating, lounging, affection/cuddles, and playing (fetch or tug of war). Her reactivity towards cats and barking can be alleviated with patience, effort, and lots of treats! She's an amazing indoor and outdoor pet due to her excitability and laziness. Kenji may take a while to acclimate to a new environment because I noticed how easily anxious she gets with unfamiliar people, but after a couple of minutes, she tends to go up to them and ask for cuddles.

Story
Max  is a super sweet, tender-hearted pup who is looking for a patient, loving home. While he may be timid at first—often preferring to watch the world go by from a cozy, safe spot—he has a heart of gold and is incredibly gentle when he warms up. Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  No, we keep him in a pen with potty pads when we can take him outside. But he is smart and very eager to please his human. He will get it in no time with consistency. Describe how they are on a leash?  He is not used to walking on a leash, but is much better with a harness. Max does not like being pulled by his neck with just a collar. Currently, I have fastened the Martingale collar to the harness in order to be able to practice walking on a leash for his safety. Describe how they are with other dogs?  Max is friendly and great with other dogs.  Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Max is great with the resident dog. I have found them snuggling together on the couch. He has passed the cat test and would be fine with cats. Commands they know?  Max comes when you call him, but he hasn't had much training and would definitely benefit from basic training. What are their favorite things?  Cuddles, hanging out outside, playing with plushy toys, and mealtimes. What do they need to work on?  Building confidence, basic training, and leash training. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Max sleeps when he is left alone. He may cry for a few minutes at first, but he stops within 5 minutes. The longest time I have left Max at home is 5 hours, and he did just fine. Where do they sleep?  Max sleeps on his bed in his xpen. What is their ideal home?  With patience and consistency, sweet Max would do great with any family.
