Story
Meet Teddy! Life has asked this little Papillon to start over more than once, but somehow he always seems to greet each new chapter with the same quiet confidence. He simply assumes everything is going to work out—and somehow, you can't help but believe him.
Teddy was adopted from a shelter only three months before he was rescued by Miri's. He'd been so excited to start a new life, only to be returned after he committed the grave offense of... being a male dog in a new place, learning new things. He lifted his leg in his new home, and that was enough to earn himself a trip out the door.
Teddy's not the kind of guy who dwells on things. He marched into his foster home, introduced himself to the resident dogs, and settled right in. The quickest way to win him over? Grab his harness. The moment Teddy realizes it's time for a walk, he lights up and proudly struts down the sidewalk like he knows he's the most handsome boy in the neighborhood (spoiler alert: he is).
Teddy is an easygoing gentleman who enjoys leisurely walks, peaceful naps, and quietly keeping his people company. He first arrived looking adorably frazzled, with enough ear hair to braid, but after a visit to the groomer, he transformed into a clean-cut, hardworking fellow who looks ready to clock in for his shift. He has a hilariously permanently relaxed expression that makes him look like he just wandered out of a dispensary with a few sleeves of Oreos and zero responsibilities.
While Teddy isn't looking to be a full-time lap dog, he has his own sweet way of showing affection. When he's ready for a cuddle, he'll quietly wander over, lean against you, or gently rest his head on your leg before continuing on with his day. He enjoys being wherever his people are, rides well in the car, sleeps through the night, and does just fine when left home alone. He gets along well with other dogs, cats, and respectful people, but more than anything, Teddy is looking for a family that will finally give him what he's been searching for all along: a place where he gets to stay.
Teddy would thrive in a calm home where he's given the time and space to settle in at his own pace. He has some hearing loss and is sensitive about having his face touched, likely because of past discomfort, so a gentle approach goes a long way. He's housebroken and walks beautifully on leash. While we were told he had some marking behavior in the past, his foster family found that it resolved very quickly once he settled into a routine and was easily managed with a belly band during that time.
Teddy doesn't ask for much: a comfortable place to nap, a nice walk, a few quiet snuggles, and the chance to spend the rest of his life knowing he doesn't have to start over ever again. We think he's more than earned that, don't you? Apply today to meet him!
Teddy is approximately 15 years 16 lbs.
