Jilly is a 1½-year-old, 22-lb terrier mix (likely Parson Russell Terrier and Wire-Haired Fox Terrier) who came to our rescue when her previous owner could no longer care for her.  She is very gentle, sweet, and eager to please—but she approaches the world with a quiet, cautious nature. Jilly is a very shy and sensitive girl who needs time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. New environments and people can be overwhelming for her, and building trust does not happen overnight. She will need an adopter who truly understands that her confidence will grow slowly, at her own pace, with calm reassurance and positive experiences. Once she feels secure, her soft, affectionate personality begins to shine. Because she gains confidence from other dogs, Jilly requires a home with another well-balanced canine companion who can help guide her, model confidence, and show her that the world isn’t so scary. A secure, fenced yard is also required so she can explore and decompress in a safe space. Jilly gets along beautifully with other dogs, especially those with a gentle, low-key play style. With patience, gentle guidance, and time, she will continue to make steady progress and blossom into a more confident dog. She’s also got a charming little quirk—Jilly is a collector! MEET GLENN!!! Glenn is a fun-loving, resilient dog who came to us from the county shelter’s euthanasia list after being brought in as a stray. When he arrived, he was fearful and under-socialized, but he has made meaningful progress with patience and care. Glenn would do best as an only dog. While he can tolerate some dogs, he tends to be protective and truly thrives when he can have his people to himself. Leash training is still a work in progress, as Glenn has lingering fear due to being previously caught in a snare while living as a stray. Once he has time to warm up, Glenn is friendly with people and children. He prefers a calm, predictable home where he can feel safe, secure, and closely bonded with his humans. Nine months have gone by where this sweet girl has gone overlooked. Salsa shown that she walks well on a leash, is very affectionate and loves to play with toys! She’s also a pro at sitting nicely for treats. Every day, Salsa is growing more confident and showing us what a wonderful girl she truly is. Salsa can be shy and weary of new people at first, so don’t take it personal! Once she opens up she’s the most affectionate girl. She’d love a home that can continue to work on her training and provide structure, give her time to build trust along with lots of love. Salsa is smaller in-person compared to photos.
