Story
Meet Lucky, a gentle little soul with a heart full of love just waiting for the right person to discover it. At 2½ years old, Lucky has been through some big changes. She came to rescue after her family lost their home, and while she is safe now, she is still learning that the world can be a kind place. Lucky is naturally shy and cautious with new people, so she needs a patient adopter who understands that trust is something she gives slowly. The good news? Once you earn it, you will have a loyal best friend for life.
Lucky is happiest in a calm, predictable home where she can take things at her own pace. She enjoys lounging on the couch or bed, watching TV with her favorite people, and rolling over for endless belly rubs once she feels comfortable. In fact, if you stop petting her too soon, she may just remind you that belly rub time is not over yet. She is house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on a leash. Her crate is her safe place, and when she feels overwhelmed, she will happily retreat there to relax and recharge. Because she can be protective of her kennel and uncomfortable when strangers reach for her, she will do best with people who respect her boundaries and let her come to them on her own terms. Lucky gets along with cats and has even been around poultry. She can live with older, respectful children who understand that she does not enjoy being grabbed or held. When it comes to other dogs, she is nervous and will need very slow, thoughtful introductions. She is much more interested in relaxing than roughhousing.
Her favorite time of day is mealtime, and her favorite people are the ones who make her feel safe. Lucky is not looking for a perfect home. She is looking for a patient heart, a cozy couch, and someone willing to give her the time she needs to blossom. If you believe the best relationships are worth waiting for, Lucky may be the perfect companion for you.
