Story
Koda is a love bug whose favorite place is in your lap napping. Very gentle in all his interactions with people and loves to be petted. No signs of destructiveness or resource guarding. He enjoys his walks and is good on the leash. He is responsive to training and learning what he can and can’t do in the house. He has a soft mouth, gentle when he takes treats and plays tug or ball. He sleeps through the night and naps often in the day. Koda would do best as a single dog with at least one person who works from home or is retired. He is cautious, but seems to settle down and gets curious after about 15-20 minutes when he is in new situations. He is progressing nicely in gaining confidence, but will need someone who is patient and willing to work with him to learn the world isn’t a scary place. We are rehoming because this sweet boy and our original dog are not meshing and he deserves to be the king of the castle and in return you will be showered with licks and love.

Story
Spike is in search for his forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: Spike, AKA His Royal Spiciness, is our special little man! He's got pzazz and spunk even though he's a senior boy. He desperately wants your affection but will sometimes reward that affection with a nip on the hand because he's decided, in his Chihuahua energy, that he doesn't want to be touched anymore. Don't worry though - he has 3.5 teeth so you don't really feel it. He loves to cuddle, but again - don't let him sleep next to you because if you DARE to MOVE he will be shooketh at the thought that a human would even think to disturb him and will snap. How else will he earn his title of 'His Royal Spiciness'? All this to say... he has a loyal fanbase of fosters who love his personality and ease of leaving him alone so the spiciness grows on you. If you're looking for a dog that will add spice to your life, Spike is your man. Spike recently underwent surgery to remove a mass on his head, and while it was entirely removed with narrow margins, it is possible due to the nature of the tumor it may have spread elsewhere in his body. However clinically, Spike is thriving. He is energetic and spry, eats well, and still very much enjoys his life. Check out Spike's video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYsD1bKn42Y ATTRIBUTES: Spike does well in foster with other dogs that respect his personal boundaries and gives him space. Spike should not go to a home with cats or kids. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
Leo is 7 years old. He was 1 of 2 in a litter. We initially adopted his brother from an acquaintance. Around 2 months old, the family that had Leo had a family emergency and asked us to watch him. 3 months later they returned and suggested we keep him since he bonded to us and our other dogs - including his litter brother. As they both aged, play-fighting got more and more aggressive. They are both neutered but no help. My wife spends a lot of time traveling for work and often takes the brother. When without the other, these dogs are great with other dogs. And always good with people. They both had formal training but that does not seem to help when they get worked up. At this point, I think Leo would be better off with the anxiety he feels around his brother. I am not in a rush to rehome him. Especially if it means finding Leo the best new family.

Story
Meet Stewart, aka Stewie! This scruffy little guy was spotted running as a stray before being picked up by animal control. Luckily, Stewie had an advocate at the shelter who reached out to rescue for help, and he’s been charming us ever since. Stewie is a social, funny, and affectionate boy, estimated to be 1–2 years old, about 17 lbs, and likely a wire-coat Jack Russell Terrier mix. His scruffy coat and signature “poodle-hawk” tuft make him completely irresistible. Stewie is currently fostered with a mom, dad, and two dogs. He’s become best buddies with one playful pup, and you’ll often find them snuggled together, while also respecting the other dog’s need for space. He does well as part of a pack and even spent Thanksgiving at his foster family’s beach house with eight adults and one of six dogs, where he fit right in and had a blast. He’d love a home with a young, playful canine companion and shares toys nicely. Stewie is a wonderful mix of goofy, clever, affectionate, and fun. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and becomes a total velcro dog, happily following his people from room to room once he’s comfortable. He has a medium energy level, is crate-trained, and nearly fully potty-trained. He just needs consistent breaks and supervision as he continues to perfect his routine. His foster mom practices structured crate nap times, and Stewie settles right in. At night, he sleeps in bed with the family and their dogs; during the day, he’s often found curled up napping in his foster mom’s home office. He’s great on leash, stays close, doesn’t pull much, and walks even more confidently with a dog buddy. This sweet, silly boy loves to play and enjoys his daily walks, but after some zoomies or exercise, he’s happy to relax on the couch or entertain himself with a toy. His foster mom describes him as an easy, awesome dog, snuggly without being pushy, never destructive, and trustworthy with free roam in the home with regular potty breaks. Stewart is ready for a family who will enjoy his spark and help him continue blossoming into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Jack Russell Terrier mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  17 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  1-2 years old COAT TYPE: Scruffy, wiry coat needs regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION:  Herndon, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
