Gary is a Pekingese puppy born 3/18/26 who was rescued from the commercial pet trade and is now discovering how wonderful life can be! This tiny fluff ball is gentle, affectionate, playful in short bursts, and absolutely LOVES being cuddled and kissed. He gets along well with other dogs, enjoys soft toys, treat balls, car rides, and happily alternates between playing and napping. His hilarious little "elf feet," adorable gremlin noises, and giant expressive eyes make him impossible not to fall in love with. Gary is still working on potty training and isn't a fan of crates, so he'll need a family willing to continue his puppy training with patience and consistency. Larry is a ridiculously adorable Pekingese puppy born 3/18/26 who was rescued from the pet trade and is now searching for his forever family! This sweet little five-pound lovebug is gentle, easygoing, affectionate, and happiest when he's playing with his dog friends, carrying around soft toys or pinecones, taking naps wherever he happens to land, and cuddling up around your neck for kisses (ear-lobe nibbles included!). Larry loves people, gets along beautifully with other dogs, enjoys car rides and baths, and has the funniest tiny "teefers," fluffy elf toes, and dinner dance you've ever seen. BJ is currently heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. He will need to return to NMDR for his scheduled care, and adopters must be committed to strictly following the treatment plan as outlined by NMDR veterinarians to ensure his full recovery. Meet BJ, a 5-year-old, 18-pound Bichon Frise who is a bit timid and nervous around new people and new situations. BJ is still learning that the world is a safe place, and he needs a calm, patient adopter who is willing to go at his pace as he builds trust and confidence. With consistency, reassurance, and gentle handling, he has the potential to continue making progress and feel more secure over time. BJ would benefit from a committed adopter who understands the importance of slow, steady trust-building. Having another calm, confident canine companion in the home may help him feel more comfortable and assist in his adjustment process. BJ also needs a fenced in yard as he continues to work on his leash walking skills. A meet-and-greet at the shelter is required to ensure it is a good fit and to set BJ up for the best possible transition into a patient, understanding home. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
