Story
Meet sweet Smooches! She is looking for a forever foster willing to give her the one-on-one love and attention she deserves. Though she's blind and deaf, this wonderful gal does not let it slow her down. She is not 100% at using the pee pads, but she does pretty well if the pad is kept in the same spot. Smooches enjoys roaming the yard in nice weather and can make it to the door and will ask to go outside. She knows where the water and food dishes are and can help herself. Smooches is very friendly, good with dogs, cats, and children. She is an easy going gal who eats, sleeps and does a couple passes around the house each day. We are looking for someone who can take care of her medical needs on a daily basis. This includes eye drops several times a day (she does not mind them at all), a special diet (which the rescue will provide, you just need to be able to occasionally pick up the food from the rescue), and occasional vet visits to Tridelphia, also covered by the rescue. Hatton Animal Rescue Foundation's Sanctuary Forever Foster Program: The goal of the Forever Foster program is to provide loving and safe homes for older, special needs or palliative care animals. A Forever Foster pet is usually a senior pet or a pet with medical needs that generally would not be adopted otherwise – these are the unfortunate ones who are overlooked at animal shelters and are often the first to be euthanized. While you provide a safe home environment (food, toys, attention and, of course, LOVE) for one of our sweet animals, Hatton Animal Rescue is committed to covering ALL medical costs for the deserving animal that you welcome in. Why commit to becoming a Forever Foster? Of course, the first reason is that these special animals deserve to live out their lives in comfort and with love. Second, Forever Foster parents will be the first to tell you that the love these pets return is unconditional, and that it is extremely fulfilling to provide special care. The love you provide goes a long way as your forever foster is able to live out his/her best life. If you ready to make the commitment to become a Forever Foster, please complete our foster application and we will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Please note that opportunities for temporary fostering are available on a case by case basis, but generally, we are looking for forever homes). https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/HATT/Dog

Story
Lewis is a little bigger than his friends Lois and Clark. He is cautious of big dogs. He plays very well with small dogs. He loves to play and walks well on a leash. Loves toys and getting lots of rubs. He was very scared when he first came to the ranch. He has blossomed and become very confident and affectionate. He will be great with a family. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He is located in the Texas Hill Country. He would love to travel anywhere in the US or Canada. ##2088929##

Story
Meet Dan Dan’s the kind of dog who makes you believe in second chances. Three years young and about 14 pounds, this soulful Pekingese came from the South, found wandering with his loyal travel partner, Forrest. No one knows the full story of how these two buddies ended up on their own, but if you look into Dan’s wise little eyes, you can tell he’s learned a lot along the way - about friendship, resilience, and the art of keeping hope alive. Energy and Personality Dan’s got the gentle heart of a philosopher and the spirit of a wanderer who’s finally found safe ground. He’s affectionate, grounded, and likes to take life at his own steady pace. He enjoys company, loves people, and gets along easily with dogs. Though his hind legs have limited mobility, he’s remarkably adaptable - getting along like he’s got places to be and dreams to chase. The vet says with continued medical support and physiotherapy, he could regain more movement, but Dan doesn’t seem bothered. He’s too busy enjoying the simple joys: a soft bed, a friendly pat, and the company of those he trusts. Training and Behavior Dan is wonderfully crate trained and has an easygoing nature that makes him a pleasure to care for. He’s calm, cooperative, and perfectly content to hang out quietly or share the couch for a movie marathon. His goopy eye is being treated, and while there may be some vision loss, his outlook stays clear - love, comfort, and loyalty are what truly matter. Social Life Dan and Forrest are a real-life duo straight out of a heartwarming road movie. They’ve traveled side by side through hardship and have come out stronger and softer for it. While it would be a storybook ending to see them adopted together, they’re both ready to bring love and gratitude into any home lucky enough to have them either separately or together. Special Traits Dan’s scruffy charm and thoughtful gaze make him feel older than his years. He’s a little old soul in a small, resilient body. He’s learned that life’s best moments are simple: the sound of someone calling his name, a treat for being good, the company of a friend. He’s proof that even the roughest roads can lead to someplace beautiful. Best Home Fit Dan will thrive in a calm, loving home that values quiet companionship and gentle affection. He doesn’t need much, just someone to remind him that the journey’s over and the best is yet to come. Whether he’s sharing a home with Forrest or striking out on his own, this little philosopher is ready to trade the open road for a soft lap and a forever heart. Veterinary Care Dan has visited the veterinarian for assessment and treatment of his rear leg issues and eyes and is up to date on vaccinations for his age. He will be neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm preventative, flea and tick preventative, and routine parasite treatments. His eye is under medical care and improving, and he may benefit from ongoing physiotherapy to strengthen his hind legs.

We have received Newton’s DNA and health report.  CLICK HERE for   NewtonDogFactReport.   Good with Dogs , Is Not Good with Kids , Good with Adults , Somewhat vocal , Does Good in the Car , Requires a yard , Leash-trained , Crate-trained , Likes to play with toys , Likes to be in your lap , Playful , Affectionate , Eager To Please , Intelligent REQUIRES A GOOD SIZE FENCED IN YARD ADEQUATE TO CONFINE HIM.   We estimate Newton almost four years old.  He is 25 pounds, neutered, up-to-date in vaccinations.  We do not know much about his past before he was picked up as a stray dog by Baltimore County shelter.  He was extremely and painfully matted, not neutered, and had an amical hernia.  It was necessary to shave his matting off under sedation so this was done when he was neutered and had his amical hernia repaired.  In the shelter he was very scared and still had not forgotten the pain he suffered from his matted coat.  His coat requires regular grooming to prevent getting matted again.  He was extremely fearful of grooming but with a gentle hand he is fine now.  We have been working with him in his foster home and he is getting better.  He will require a family that understands his past trauma and has experience with dogs to help him fully recover.  Newton would like to have a home with a yard where he can spend some time running around.    Newton would not do well in apartment/Condo life.  He needs to have a house with a yard. He seems to be energetic and active and a bit mouthy so he would not do well with young children. Newton is an active, happy, playful dog that gets along well with his new foster brothers.  He is an amazingly affectionate dog. He seems to want to and will climb into your lap to be close to you.  He like to be in touch with his people either on the lap, next to and touching on the couch, and very close in bed at night with his warm body. We had an animal communicator do a reading on Newton.  What we think from this encounter that Newton is missing his family.  We think something happened to his owner and a caregiver may have let Newton go astray.  His condition would indicate that he was long overdue for required grooming.    WHEN AN APPLICATION TO ADOPT IS APPROVED WE BRING NEWTON TO THE HOME VISIT AND MEET AND GREET, AND IF ANOTHER ANIMAL A SNIFF TEST.  WE DO NOT PLACE DOGS ON THIS VISIT. WE RETURN IF THERE WILL BE AN ADOPTION WHEN EVERYONE IS PREPARED TO ADOPT.  WE ONLY TRAVEL UP TO A ONE HOUR DRIVE FROM ROCKVILLE MD TO PLACE ANIMALS.
