Story
Yo-Yo has had a rough few weeks since coming to us but is finally starting to relax. This 3 year old was surrendered because he was being left along 14+ hours a day and no one had any time for him. He had a cherry eye and matted dreadlocks hanging from him, and was terrified and clearly not used to much handling. He’s never been on a leash (or when he was something bad definitely happened) and absolutely HATES them- as soon as he even sees a leash coming near him he instantly panics and try to bite to get it off of him. Without the leash he lets us pick him up easily and dances around for attention. He had a cherry eye repair and wasn’t happy about the cone on his neck or the vet staff or us trying to do eye drops while he was recovering, but now all has been forgiven since he is recovered. But he’s not the type of dog that really wants any one in his face too much or picking at him and will probably need sleepytime meds for grooming in the future. He seems to be some kind of Maltese/peke/Shih Tzu mix, under 15lbs and not a completely nonshedding coat so at least he doesn’t have to be groomed quite as often. He likes other dogs and follows them in and out of the fenced yard easily; while we don’t require it for all dogs, little Yo-Yo definitely needs offense due to his intense dislike of leashes at this point. He’s looking for an adult home that understands weird little dogs who don’t want to be messed with and will let him come for attention on his terms. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Yo-Yo in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Milo is a friendly 12 year old surrendered due to his owner's failing health. Sadly, Milo's own health has been neglected for quite a while as well, and he's been suffering from painful itchy skin infections all over his body, ear infections, and untreated chronic dry eye. He's seen our vet for a full work up and is on a regimen of medications, medicated baths, and longterm eye drops and will need someone to stay on top of his treatments longterm so he's not suffering. He looks to be a shih tzu/peke mix as far as we can tell, overweight at 24lbs. He's not happy about being picked up but otherwise a social nice guy, good with other gentle dogs and already feeling better and happier since starting treatment. Please submit an application to meet this sweet senior Primary Color: Tan Age: 12yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
●Rescue Story Jjajang was rescued from the euthanasia list at Jeongeup City Shelter. Thanks to timely intervention, he was given a second chance at life and moved into a foster home, where he has been able to decompress and show his true, gentle personality. ●Temperament & Behavior Jjajang is a calm and sensitive dog who prefers a peaceful environment. He does not enjoy overly energetic or pushy dogs, regardless of their size. He may be able to coexist with another dog who has low energy or shows little interest in him, but he may be happiest as the only dog in the home. When he feels bothered, he communicates clearly by giving a soft growl as a “please stop” signal. His compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. With people, Jjajang is initially cautious. Sudden approaches or reaching out to touch him can be scary for him. However, if someone sits calmly nearby, he will often approach on his own and quietly ask for affection with gentle eye contact. ●Walking & Daily Life At first, Jjajang appeared timid on walks, but with consistent leash training, he now walks nicely beside his handler and matches their pace well. If startled, he may briefly crouch, but sitting down and softly calling his name helps him recover quickly. He loves sniffing during walks and is not food-driven outdoors. He navigates stairs well and is not significantly bothered by traffic noise. His shedding level is moderate, around 5 out of 10. He has no food allergies and is not a picky eater. ●Habits & Training Jjajang uses indoor pee pads reliably (100%) and also goes potty outdoors about 50% of the time. He accepts baths and brushing calmly without resistance. He does not have separation anxiety and is comfortable spending time alone. He is not a barker and remains quiet in the home. He rides well in the car and does not appear to experience motion sickness. ●Likes & Personality Jjajang is not particularly interested in toys and prefers quiet time resting on his own rather than high-energy play. He is easily startled by sudden approaches but becomes very affectionate once trust is built. He is currently living in a foster home.

Story
Meet Cooper Cooper is an 8-9 year-old Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix with southern gentleman vibes and just the right amount of personality. He came to us after his owner sadly had a stroke and could no longer care for him, and now he’s on the hunt for a new place to call home. This guy? Total flirt. Cooper loves hanging out with volunteers and staff and knows exactly how to turn on the charm when it counts. His hobbies include lounging in ridiculously soft beds, burrowing like it’s his full-time job, and enjoying bones that are… honestly bigger than his head. Cooper has lived with another small female dog and has met a few dogs here. His preference is pretty simple—calm, relaxed friends who match his low-key lifestyle. Now for his “quirk”: grooming. Cooper enjoys looking handsome, but participating in the process? Hard pass, especially when it comes to his face. He’ll need a patient adopter who’s willing to work through his stubborn streak, along with a skilled (and understanding) groomer or possibly a sedated groom at a vet. Think of it as part of his charm… and maybe a little bit of negotiation. The good news he’s housebroken and crate trained. Like any new dog, he may need a little adjustment time, but he’s got a great foundation. Cooper is equal parts sweet, stubborn, and snuggly. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with a big personality, he just might be your guy If you are interested in Cooper please fill out an application at www.dogtownrescue.org. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Cooper is neutered, vaccinated, tested heartworm negative and is scheduled for a dental at our vet so he is fully vetted (all included in his adoption fee)! ⚠️ Please note: An approved application and appointment are required to meet any of our dogs. 📍 Dog Town Rescue | 1553 Bethlehem Pike, Hatfield, PA 19440🐾 PA Kennel License #12275
